A historic journey ended in tragedy this week when a Viking replica ship capsized off the coast of Norway, killing an American archaeologist who was part of its international crew. The six-person team had been piloting the open wooden ship, named Naddodd, on a roughly 1,000-mile trip from the Faroe Islands to Trondheim, Norway. "This expedition, honoring the Viking navigator Naddodd, aims to preserve Viking culture and navigational skills for future generations," Sail2North expeditions, which organized the voyage, said in an Instagram post in May. The team — made up of four Swiss, one Faroese and one American — departed...

Donald Trump accused Kamala Harris of lying about working at McDonald's - a claim that has sparked endless speculation. *** 'She also said, "I worked at McDonald's.'' Turned out she didn't work at McDonalds," the former president mentioned to the audience. 'Did anyone see that?' he continued. 'After an exhaustive study that took about 20 minutes, they found out she never worked there. In April, Harris appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show, where she was asked if she worked at the fast food restaurant. 'I did. Yes, I did work at McDonald's,' the vice president said. 'When I was at...

(NewsNation) — The Department of Homeland Security is shutting down a program that used surveillance blimps at the border amid objections from lawmakers and border agents. The agency announced it was decreasing the number of blimps from 12 to four last year and promised the program would be a thing of the past by the end of fiscal year 2023. Nearly a year later, the tactical Aerostat surveillance program is finally shutting down as funding has dried up. More than two dozen people are out of a job thanks to the program’s end, according to DHS sources. The program used...

When conservative activists set aflame boxes of Bud Light and urged a boycott in response to an endorsement from a trans influencer last spring, they sent sales of the beer plummeting in a rare success in the long history of consumer movements. Even more improbably, the backlash continues to hammer Bud Light and strain independent local wholesalers more than a year later, according to third-party sales data shared with ABC News as well as interviews with six Anheuser-Busch wholesalers. Most of the wholesalers, small- and medium-sized businesses that draw a significant portion of their revenue from Bud Light, said they...

A new round of polls from Morning Consult and Bloomberg News suggests that Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris is beating or tied with former President Donald Trump in every major swing state. Warren Buffett, the seventh richest person on the planet, turns 94 years old today. Hailed as one of the most successful investors of all time, Buffett made his first stock purchase at just 11 years old in Omaha, Nebraska, and now boasts a net worth of over $148 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Buffett's acclaim is well-deserved as the chair of Berkshire Hathaway, which just two days ago became the first non-tech U.S. company to join the $1 trillion club. One might expect that someone leading such a massive conglomerate since 1970 would adhere to a healthy diet...

Vice President Kamala Harris taunted former President Donald Trump in an early morning jab over his campaign’s demand for microphones to be muted at the next debate, and tried to bait him into reversing course. Trump’s campaign has been fighting to keep the rules that were originally agreed to for the September 10 debate on ABC, while the Harris campaign has pushed for microphones to remain hot at all times. When the issue first surfaced, Harris campaign senior advisor for communications Brian Fallon told Mediaite in a statement: “We have told ABC and other networks seeking to host a possible...

Friday, during an appearance on FNC’s “Jesse Watters Primetime,” former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), now a member of the Trump transition team, reacted to CNN’s joint interview with Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris and Democratic vice-presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN). Gabbard told fill-in host Pete Hegseth that Harris “came across” as weak and afraid. “Let’s bring in a member of the Trump transition team, Tulsi Gabbard,” Hegseth said. “Just first, you know you’ve been a part of preparing President Trump for an upcoming debate. You’ve debated Kamala Harris. The bar was very low. This was very easy,...

I told them, "Don't just take my word for it, because of course I'll speak positively about us and the government. But you're already here—you've got your cameras, paid for your plane tickets, booked your hotel rooms, and set up your internet. You've got everything: the people, the photographers, and the video cameras. Go to the streets. Ask people and don't go where--" "Yes, go there, but don't limit yourselves to the most public or prominent places where the government might have some influence. No. Go anywhere. It is so safe that you can walk into any dark alley without...

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Parents and students are pushing back against transgender students being allowed to change in girls’ locker rooms in the Washoe County School District. “He also gets a front-row seat to view naked females,” said a woman, who’s granddaughter attends Spanish Springs High School. “Girls feel uncomfortable in locker rooms under any circumstances, but especially when they have to share the space with someone who is biologically different from them at birth,” added a student at Spanish Springs High School, who is directly impacted by a boy, who identifies as a girl, changing in her locker room....

Three days ago, Jack Smith filed a superseding indictment against Donald Trump. That's highly significant for a reason. It demolishes the veneer of impartiality and destroys something else. Three years ago, I wrote an article about how US Attorney David Weiss tipped the election in favor of Joe Biden by burying the Hunter Biden tax and laptop scandals. Weiss was praised for his restraint in not indicting the younger Biden. Last summer, federal officials in Delaware investigating Hunter Biden faced a dilemma. The probe had reached a point where prosecutors could have sought search warrants and issued a flurry of...

On August 22, on the spur of the moment, I posted this on X and on Facebook: A friendly reminder: Jesus was a rabbi, not a reverend. He was a Jew, not a Christian. His name was Yeshua and His mother’s name was Miriam. He was called Christ because it was the Greek way of saying Messiah. He is the Savior of the world because He is Israel’s Messiah.

Our Op-Ed in The NY Post: Unlike things that happen in Vegas, European social media censorship doesn’t stay in Europe. The detention of Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, by French police is a cautionary tale for how European bureaucratic internet control mechanisms can affect platforms used by millions of Americans. Kemberlee and I write about it in an Op-Ed in The NY Post, Arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in France should scare Americans worried about free speech: The famous Las Vegas tourism slogan asserts that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. But when it comes to European...

Daria Korkh made a good show of a stiff upper lip as she prepared to abandon her home.“We don’t want to, but we’ve got to,” she said bluntly. “The shops and supermarkets are closing. Medical facilities are still open, but it’s only a matter of time before the gas and electricity go.“The shelling has become more frequent and now there are enemy drones in town. Today the first drone flew in. Everyone knew after they [the Russians] took Avdiivka that this could be expected. It’s not sudden.Ms Korkh, a practical 39-year-old who has no children but a host of rescue...

The Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court has issued a 4-1 ruling that blocks the enforcement of a crucial law requiring election officials to reject mail-in ballots with missing or incorrect handwritten dates on their outer return envelopes. The case, brought forward by a coalition of organizations including the Black Political Empowerment Project, the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania, and Common Cause Pennsylvania, challenged the legality of rejecting mail-in ballots solely based on the absence or inaccuracy of the handwritten date on the return envelope.

Daily Readings from the USCCB“The one who had received five talents came forward bringing the additional five. He said, ‘Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have made five more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities.’” Matthew 25:20–21Oftentimes, when we are presented with a story of success versus tragedy, our attention goes to the tragedy first. The parable we are given today, the Parable of the Talents, presents us with three persons. Two of the people display stories of great...

Boeing's troubled Starliner spacecraft is set to return to Earth just over a week from now with managers setting a date of no earlier than September 6 for undocking from the International Space Station (ISS) and September 7 to land at White Sands in New Mexico. For the Starliner's crew, however, the stay in space will be far from over as the duo will join the Crew-9 mission and return to Earth around February 2025, once the Crew-9 capsule arrives at the ISS. After Starliner departs and until Crew-9 arrives, the only emergency escape system available to the Starliner crew,...
