Legislators may be off for spring recess, but debates about their bills are still happening outside committee rooms. One spicy intra-party exchange between Democratic Assemblymembers focuses on a measure about retail theft — underscoring the difficult balance for lawmakers responding to public concerns about crime, while not over-policing historically targeted communities.Los Angeles Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo, vice chairperson of the Legislative Progressive Caucus, introduced Assembly Bill 1990, which would allow police officers to make warrantless arrests for misdemeanor shoplifting offenses (as in, items that total $950 or less) if officers have probable cause. Officers do not need to be present when...

I have never been afraid of controversial topics, and I am going to address one today. An incredibly shocking video that has gone viral on social media has been brought to my attention, and I think that someone needs to write about what happened. I went to Google News and did a search for any news stories about this particular incident, and I found zero. Hopefully that will change, because when very strange supernatural events take place they should get attention. On Sunday, Pastor J.D. Farag was preaching a message about the end times and the Great American Eclipse of...

President Joe Biden is being pressed to use the reconstruction of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore as an opportunity to remedy alleged racial discrimination against blacks in the construction industry. Biden said this week that he had told his administration officials to “move heaven and earth” to reopen the port of Baltimore and rebuild the bridge. The reconstruction efforts, however, may be complicated by demands that the project further leftwing ideas about racial justice, the treatment of immigrants, climate change, and wealth redistribution. An op-ed in The Hill underscores that some of these demands may be irreconcilable. For...

Baltimore leader Brandon Scott appeared on Joy Reid’s MSNBC show to assert that white conservatives “should be afraid” of the consequences of calling him the ‘DEI Mayor’ and that his “purpose in life” was to make them uncomfortable. Yes, really. Professional race-bator Reid angrily asserted that when right-wingers make fun of DEI, they actually mean just “black people,” claiming, “It’s the reason they complained about Critical Race Theory, it’s not fashionable to be openly racist anymore in America.” She then welcomed Scott, who dresses and acts like a Black Lives Matter activist, to address the horrifically “racist” fact that right-wingers...

Daily Readings from the USCCB“This day shall be a memorial feast for you, which all your generations shall celebrate with pilgrimage to the LORD, as a perpetual institution.” Exodus 12:11The holy Triduum begins. Today we fulfill this Old Testament passage, revealing that the Passover would become “a perpetual institution.” This passage concludes our First Reading instruction from the LORD given to Moses and Aaron on how to prepare for the Israelites’ liberation from Egypt. Plague after plague had been inflicted upon the Egyptians, and none of them resulted in the Israelites being set free. Therefore, the LORD instructed the Israelites...

Russia's Kuibyshev mid-sized oil refinery near the city of Samara on the Volga river has halted all production following damage from a Ukrainian drone attack last week, two industry sources told Reuters on Thursday. The disruption adds to the difficulties of the Russian oil refining sector as the need for emergency repairs following numerous drone attacks claimed by Ukraine has left them struggling to deliver supplies. According to Reuters calculations, around 14% of Russia's refining capacity has been shut down by drone attacks, including Kuibyshev, and the country has this month increased gasoline imports from neighbouring Belarus to address possible...

VIDEOAmid all the praises by Democrats for Joe Lieberman who just passed away, we should remember that liberals actually HATED him. Why? Among several reasons is that many liberals blamed Lieberman for causing Al Gore to lose the 2000 election as you can see in these scenes from the film "Recount" about the 2000 Florida recount which ultimately ALL subsequent recounts still showed Gore losing. Oh, and notice how Democrats back then insisted on verifying the validity of mail-in ballot? They also insisted on the use of paper over electronic ballots in the wake of that election. My how times...

Republican strategist Karl Rove said the Democrats “should worry” about Robert F. Kennedy’s Jr. independent bid for the White House. Democrats ramped up their criticism of Kennedy after he announced Nicole Shanahan as his running mate Tuesday. Fox News’s Bret Baier asked Rove on “America Reports” whether Democrats should be concerned about Kennedy’s campaign potentially hurting President Biden’s reelection efforts. “Well, they should worry. In 2016, third party candidates got 5.8 percent of the vote. That’s one out of every 17 voters cast a ballot for third-party candidates. And in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, the Green Party candidate got more...

Nine states show up again and again as the most repressive states in the union of the United States of America. With the occasional exception, these states refuse to honor the Constitution; they have extremely restrictive policies on who may bear arms, they ban common rifles, they ban the ownership of suppressors, and they tend to have high taxes. They are all controlled by the Democratic Party. The nine most repressive states are California, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.Of those nine states, all but Rhode Island have enacted bans on some semi-automatic firearms, usually...

A Midwestern angler broke a world record last week after reeling in a female carp that weighed nearly 100 pounds. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) announced the massive catch by fisherman George Chance in a Mar. 22 press release. Chance caught a 97-pound bighead carp during a fishing excursion along the Mississippi River. "Chance was bank fishing for catfish with a bottom-bouncing crankbait when he hooked into the fish March 19," the MDC explained in a statement. "Chance was fighting with the fish for around 20 minutes before he finally got it onto the shore." The Festus, Missouri, resident...

A new, 2,000-person migrant caravan is making its way north to the US border — and is expected to reach El Paso, Texas in just the next few days. Videos posted online show a swarm of people walking through the streets of southern Mexico on Monday. In one clip, an apparent leader of the group could be seen encouraging the group to chant “a la frontera” through a bullhorn — meaning “to the border.” The group then proclaimed in Spanish, “We are not criminals, we are international workers.” Church-run border shelters are now preparing for the group’s arrival, as they...
