The Justice Department expects to release the report to Congress and the public soon, Attorney General Merrick Garland told lawmakers in a letter Wednesday. Garland did not detail the conclusions of the report from special counsel Robert Hur, but said he was committed to disclosing as much of the document as possible once the White House completes a review for potential executive privilege concerns. The process is expected to be completed by the end of the...

Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee, shut down Special Counsel Jack Smith’s attempt to keep names of government witnesses and other discovery under seal in the classified documents case against Trump. Jack Smith last June indicted Trump on 37 federal counts in Miami. Trump was charged with 31 counts of willful retention of national defense information and 6 other process crimes stemming from his conversations with his lawyer. Jack Smith has been fighting to keep the names of government witnesses a secret. He also opposed the unsealing of discovery material because one document confirms the existence of another FBI investigation....

Alarm Raised At National Conference On Saturday, January 6, at the Folk och Forsvars conference, Carl-Oskar Bohlin, the civil defence minister, starkly announced, ‘there could be war in Sweden.’ His comments, coupled with other senior defence officials’ warnings, have sent ripples of concern throughout the country. ‘For a...

What’s the difference between books and any other kind of speech? Books have an emotional quality to them.Delete someone’s post and it can be called enforcing community guidelines, but burn a book and suddenly you’re a Nazi. Speech is still speech, but the idea of going after books in particular summons all sorts of historical references from the Muslim destruction of the Library of Alexandria to book-burning rallies in Berlin. It’s why the Left was able to mobilize so much opposition by accusing school boards and parents of trying to “ban books” by keeping pornographic books out of schools.Still every prior...

President Joe Biden referred to former President Trump as an “existential threat” during a fundraiser in New York City on Wednesday, as anti-Israel protesters blocked Fifth Avenue outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art. “There is one existential threat: it’s Donald Trump,” Biden told business leaders during his first stop of the day at the Upper West Side home of Larry Linden, the former managing partner of Goldman Sachs. “He’ll try to undo everything we’ve done… We can’t let that happen,” Biden said. “There is only one existential threat we face in the world: and that’s the environment.” The president had...

Mail-in ballots, the private takeover of elections with “Zuckerbucks,” Big Tech censorship, and Democrat meddling are the biggest ways “the American system of self-governance is under attack,” Federalist Editor-In-Chief and bestselling author Mollie Hemingway warned in her testimony to the House Administration Committee. “We have allowed the private takeover of government election offices by partisan oligarchs and their armies of activists who use those offices and their authorities to tilt the election toward favored candidates,” she said. During her opening statement on Wednesday, Hemingway diagnosed the deterioration of U.S. elections and Americans’ trust in the voting process as the result...

Continuing our ongoing coverage of Boeing's "flying junkyards," the investigation into the blowout of a door plug on Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 over Portland last month is still ongoing. FAA Administrator Michael Whitaker said yesterday that the investigation will take six weeks to complete in full and the company is roughly halfway through the process. But Boeing is already releasing some of their preliminary findings, including photographs of some of the inspections being done. One of these photos has led investigators to confirm earlier suspicions that four main bolts used to fasten the door plug in place were not even...

Woof, the news just keeps getting grimmer and grimmer for Danish offshore energy behemoth Ørsted...and it's great. Thanks to a heads-up this morning from HotAir regular John Clark, I have had an encouraging time digging into what's looking damn near like a collapse of one of the biggest names in the wind farm business. It bodes some serious ill for the entire sector. You all know from reading my posts that Ørsted has had a miserable twelve months, thanks to a number of circumstances. Most of them stem from contracts agreed to based on overconfidence in continued government largesse, cheap financing, low...

Remember as we wait for the Tucker Carlson interview with Putin 2.0 to drop, Tucker still has that interview he did months ago with Julian Assange inside Belmarsh Prison in his back pocket. For some mysterious reason that isn't yet apparent, Tucker has held back that interview.… Think "Crowdstrike Report on the Russian Hackers Who Supposedly Hacked The DNC Server and Stole The DNC Emails". Roll it around in your brain. Ponder at depth the various angles. About the fake Crowdstrike report. Think, ponder and reflect on these plot points: 1. Russian hackers didn't take the DNC emails 2. Crowdstrike...

Nearly four years after announcing it would temporarily remove the testing requirement for applicants, Dartmouth has announced it is reinstating the SAT.When Dartmouth suspended its standardized testing requirement for undergraduate applicants in June 2020, it was a pragmatic pause taken by most colleges and universities in response to an unprecedented global pandemic. At the time, we imagined the resulting "test-optional" policy as a short-term practice rather than an informed commentary on the role of testing in our holistic evaluation process. Nearly four years later, having studied the role of testing in our admissions process as well as its value as...
