There are currently no future touring plans in place for the Who, and Roger Daltrey is content with that. The singer recently spoke with The Times about the band’s status, explaining that he’d need to discuss whatever happens next with bandmate Pete Townshend. “I don’t write the songs. I never did,” Daltrey said. “We need to sit down and have a meeting, but at the moment I’m happy saying that part of my life is over.”

A Chicago man has been charged with stealing a car on the North Side while wearing an ankle monitor for two additional stolen motor vehicle cases he has picked up since last March. North Riverside cops arrested Curtis on March 2, saying he struck one of their patrol cars with a stolen Jeep Cherokee and also possessed a loaded firearm, according to court records. After appearing before Judge Sheree Henry, he posted a $500 bail deposit and went home...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Bipartisan legislation to create a commission charged with taming the $34 trillion U.S. national debt is set to advance this week in a House of Representatives panel, as lawmakers battle over federal spending. The House Budget Committee on Tuesday said it will hold a work session at 10 a.m. (1500 GMT) on Thursday to debate and potentially vote on the "Fiscal Commission Act of 2023," just weeks after Washington's total public debt breached the $34 trillion mark, putting it at more than 122% of GDP. Backers of the bill hope it could help make the national debt...

The Blaze has done a remarkable investigative report about what happened at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. They thank House Speaker Mike Johnson for giving them permission to now release the video, and what they are reporting is astonishing. They allege Capitol CCTV footage blows up the story told by a member of Nancy Pelosi's security detail -- Special Agent David Lazarus. Lazarus gave testimony corroborating another Capitol police officer's account, claiming that he had an antagonistic encounter with the Oath Keepers. But The Blaze report says what Lazarus claimed couldn't possibly be true.Steve Baker, the investigative reporter on...

Former President Trump mocked former President Carter on Monday during his Iowa caucus victory speech, appearing to take a dig at Carter in the wake of his wife’s death. “My wife attended the funeral two months ago of Rosalynn Carter. And it was beautiful. Jimmy Carter was there,” Trump said. “I thought to myself, Jimmy Carter is happy now, because he will go down as a brilliant president by comparison to Joe Biden.” ~snip~ Democratic advocacy organization American Bridge 21st Century denounced the Trump comments as “cruel” Tuesday. “Donald Trump has operated the same way his entire four decades in...

A philosophical Doyle Skillern was executed in Texas on this date in 1985, one of the more galling victims of Texas’s controversial “Law of Parties” — in which all parties involved in a lesser felony (such as armed robbery) may be held liable for a greater felony (such as murder) committed by any of their number. Skillern and a buddy named Charles Sanne were drug dealers being set up for arrest by a narcotics agent. In the course of a buy, the suspicious Sanne got the officer, Patrick Randel, into his vehicle on the pretext of doing business elsewhere —...

Healthcare, as much as the left hates to admit it, is a market item, like any other good or service. Until the mid-20th century, the provision of healthcare was like any other business; you went to the doctor, you paid him, and that was that. Granted, now modern, high-tech medicine is more expensive, and there is therefore a market for health insurance to spread that cost out. That, too, is a market item. When the government meddles in markets, they almost always screw it up. The Biden administration has never and will never learn this lesson; now, in the latest...

Over the past two years, the Biden administration has repeatedly insisted that job growth is amazing, and that the administration has "created" millions of jobs. In reality, of course, much of the job growth that did exist was the predictable job growth that came with the end of forced business closures and lockdowns. Job growth was also fueled by rising aggregate demand fueled by runaway growth in government spending. After all, during 2020 and 2021, the regime's easy money policies meant that the central bank and private banks created approximately seven trillion dollars during that period. Since early 2021, however,...

Ice causing flooding concerns The frigid temperatures in Illinois are causing flooding concerns. Chunks of ice have built up along the Kankakee River near Wilmington, causing the water to rise in some areas. A flood warning was issued for the area for the remainder of the week. For about eight months in 1979, the Knack was a pop sensation. Its debut album, Get the Knack, sold 5 million copies, while “My Sharona” blared on car radios throughout the summer. The band’s brash sound and Fab Four affectations seemed to incite Knackmania overnight. Then, suddenly, it was all over. The records stopped selling, and the girls stopped screaming. The Knack’s strict no-interview and no-TV policy backfired; critics dismissed the band’s Beatlesque packaging as shallow hype and attacked singer-guitarist Doug Fieger for the sexist arrogance of his lyrics. By November 1980 the Knack had fallen apart. Although the...

The Biden administration is expected to re-designate the Houthis as a specially designated global terrorist (SDGT) entity amid continued attacks by the Yemen-based militia, a source familiar told CNN Tuesday. The administration removed the Houthis’ SDGT designation and de-listed it as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) in February 2021, after it was designated by the Trump administration in its final weeks. At the time, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the decision to remove the group’s designations was driven by concerns that it could imperil the ability to deliver crucial assistance to the people of Yemen. He said it was...

If you say "men give birth," we all know your position on Hamas. Now, why is that? Why, if a person says "men give birth" or says that men who say they are women should be allowed to compete in women's sports, can we be virtually certain that the person sides with Hamas in its war to eradicate Israel? Theoretically, the two claims -- that men as well as women give birth and Israel is the villain in its war against Hamas -- have absolutely no connection. But they do -- for two reasons. Reason No. 1: When people have...

Former two-term South Carolina Governor and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley placed third in the Iowa caucuses on Monday. In August, Federalist columnist Eddie Scarry mocked former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley as “Hillary Clinton 2.0.”Talk about a take that aged well. In the fall, the DeSantis campaign even began using prior footage of Haley admiring the former secretary of state to tie the two together. By Iowa caucus month, Haley’s comparison to the first major party female presidential nominee had become a popular meme on platform X.Why would anyone support Nikki Haley aka Hillary Clinton 2.0? pic.twitter.com/FJoMZ4pkhD— Declaration of Memes (@LibertyCappy) January...

The Democratic Progressive Party won decisively, affirming that most Taiwanese want to maintain Taiwan’s separation from communist China. The Taiwanese elected William Lai Ching-te of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as their next president, despite Beijing’s threat that voting for Lai would lead to war.The campaign to succeed Taiwan’s incumbent President Tsai Ing-wen, who will step down in May due to term limits, was a fierce three-way race, including Vice President Lai of the DPP, Hou Yu-ih of the Kuomintang (KMT), and Ko Wen-je from the Taiwan People’s Party (TPP). Beijing accuses the DPP of “promoting” Taiwan’s independence, a red line...

Even when evidence indicates potential crimes, some government officials have declined to investigate and ensure the integrity of elections. It’s no secret by now that the 2020 election was not the “most secure in American history,” as federal officials previously claimed. The willful violation of election laws in states such as Wisconsin; unlawful changing of election procedures by executive fiat in states such as Michigan and Pennsylvania; Big Tech censorship; and interference by federal intel agencies and Mark Zuckerberg represent a collective effort to boost then-candidate Joe Biden’s electoral prospects that cast doubt on the “fairness” of the process. Combined with...
