Tech4Animals Lab in Haifa develops AI-powered analysis of video, sensor and audio data to determine animals’ physical pain and emotional states. “Animals do speak. We train AI to listen.” That’s the motto of the Tech4Animals lab led by Associate Prof. Anna Zamansky at the University of Haifa’s Department of Information Systems. “This lab is my dream come true,” she tells ISRAEL21c. “I am a computer scientist and I love animals. I started this lab 10 years ago when there was no such field as technology and AI for animals.” While there are labs using artificial intelligence on animal models to...
  • Vanity - Should The GOP Consider Moving Towards Caucuses And Away From Primaries?

I’m starting to like the idea of a caucus. Perhaps the GOP should look into relying more on caucuses than on primaries. You have the nomination being decided by a smaller, more motivated and informed group of voters than you do in primaries, where people are more easily swayed by soundbites, and misleading campaign ads, and the low information voter reigns supreme. Any thoughts.

Russia and Niger, under military rule since a coup last year, have agreed to develop military cooperation, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday. According to Russian news agencies, Russian Deputy Defense Ministers Yunus-Bek Yevkurov and Alexander Fomin met Niger's junta-appointed Defense Minister Salifu Modi on Tuesday. "The parties noted the importance of developing Russian-Niger relations in the defense sector and agreed to intensify joint actions to stabilize the situation in the region," - the ministry said, adding that it aims to continue dialogue on "increasing the combat readiness" of Niger's military.

Tuesday, on the heels of her second-place finish in Iowa a night earlier, former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC), a candidate for the GOP presidential nomination, reacted to comments from MSNBC host Joy Reid claiming a “brown lady” could not be the nominee of the GOP with Donald Trump still around. “The elephant in the room, she’s still a brown lady that’s got to try to win in a party that is deeply anti-immigrant,” Reid said during MSNBC’s coverage of the Iowa caucus outcome. “It’s still a challenge. I don’t see how she becomes the nominee of that party with Donald...

Residents are speaking out about the impact of the tobogganing ban on 45 hills across Toronto. East Lynn Park was one of the parks that was assessed using the city’s toboggan hill inspection program, which was implemented in 2017. The process deemed the park unsafe due to “several permanent obstacles and safety hazards onsite, including a staircase, wading pool, field house building, light poles and trees.” Nearby residents say tobogganing on this hill has been popular for decades and say that hay bales and fences are usually put up to make it safer, but not this year. Jack, a neighbourhood...

Republican Gov. Brian Kemp (GA) opposes launching a criminal probe into Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, instead preferring an oversight committee investigation that would slow-walk accountability, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) exclusively told Breitbart News. Kemp and Georgia Attorney General Christopher Carr are seeking to use the state’s oversight committee to investigate Willis for her alleged improper relationship with a top prosecutor in their case against former President Donald Trump, according to Greene. The committee operates like a disciplinary commission with the power to remove county prosecutors from public office. As with all committees, they move very slowly and...

'THIS IS A TIME-HONORED TRADITION.' Gov. Ron DeSantis is as low as 4% in some New Hampshire polling, but he continues to contend the two front-runners should debate him before next week’s Primary. “This is a time-honored tradition that you debate in New Hampshire the week before the New Hampshire Primary. So I plan on being there on Thursday,” DeSantis said about the WMUR debate scheduled, but so far with only a commitment from the Florida Governor. “I understand why Nikki Haley doesn’t want to debate and yes, Donald Trump should debate as well. But either way, I’m going to...

Desperate Tesla owners in and around Chicago were seen trying to charge their vehicles with no luck amid frigid temperatures that have gripped the Midwest. Charging stations have essentially turned into car graveyards in recent days as temperatures have dropped to the negative double digits, Fox Chicago reported. "Nothing. No juice. Still on zero percent," Tyler Beard, who had been trying to recharge his Tesla at an Oak Brook, Illinois Tesla supercharging station since Sunday afternoon, told the news outlet. "And this is like three hours being out here after being out here three hours yesterday."
  • ‘Extinction Event’ — Tories on Track for 1997-Style Election Wipeout Amid Migration Failures, Rise of Reform UK

The British Conservative Party is facing an “extinction event” with a comprehensive poll predicting a defeat on the scale of the loss to Tony Blair’s Labour in 1997 on the backs of growing anger over failures to control migration and the rise of the Nigel Farage-founded Reform UK. A YouGov survey of 14,000 people released in The Telegraph newspaper on Sunday found that the Conservatives will win just 169 seats in the House of Commons, a decline of 196 from the last general election in 2019. This would outpace the seismic defeat of the party in 1997 when Sir John...

“Islam is not even a religion. It’s a social political system that uses a deity to advance its agenda of global conquest.” So said Oklahoma’s John Bennett, a former state representative now running for the federal congress, and he was right on the money; see below: [Twitter/X screen shots] Like a dog marks his territory with urination, so do the new-to-Europe third world Muslim invaders with “prayer.” Ostensibly, they came as asylum seekers and refugees, displaced and downtrodden, ready to adapt and contribute to the West. Now that there’s enough of them, they can throw off the shackles of subterfuge...

A senior Ubisoft official suggested that gamers need to get comfortable not owning their games. The executive's perspective on the subject of game ownership, or lack thereof, arrived amid his company's latest digital push that saw Ubisoft make big changes to its subscription service. Philippe Tremblay, Ubisoft's director of subscription, labeled the latest changes as the company's attempt to "evolve." In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz, the executive explained that splitting the subscription offering into two will allow the publisher to better cater to its ever-diversifying customer base, which now includes a substantial number of people who are primarily interested...

Rishi Sunak faces a fight with his right-wing MPs in a Commons showdown over his flagship Rwanda plan starting on Tuesday afternoon. Conservative deputy chairmen Lee Anderson and Brendan Clarke-Smith have joined more than 60 Tory MPs in backing controversial amendments being debated on Tuesday and Wednesday. The bill seeks to revive the Prime Minister's plan to deport some asylum seekers to the east African nation - proposals ruled unlawful by the Supreme Court last year. But a growing number of rebels have argued the bill does not go far enough and they want changes that will prevent legal challenges....

On January 13, 2024, more than a thousand people led by A. J. Hurley of the White Rose Resistance, a Christian activist group, gathered in Miller Park in Fontana, California to rally in favor of parents’ rights. They demanded that the Fontana school district adopt a parent notification policy in which children could not be socially transitioned without parental consent. They also called out Planned Parenthood for its sex education curricula related to sexual identity. After rallying in the park, the crowd marched through the streets of Fontana in a noisy but orderly demonstration.

The results of the Iowa caucuses surprised no one: Donald Trump ran away with it, as his 28-point lead in the polls going into Monday suggested he would. The polls were accurate this time, and most corporate media outlets called Iowa for Trump not long after 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The former president ended up with 51 percent of the total caucus vote, followed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a distant second with 21 percent, and Nikki Haley coming in third at 19 percent. But the big news of the night isn’t Trump’s massive win, it’s DeSantis’ spectacular defeat....

Governor JB Pritzker (D-IL) said Monday on MSNBC’s Iowa caucus coverage that the “weakness” of former President Donald Trump was shown in his 30-plus point win. Pritzker said, “Almost half of the base of the Republican Party showing up for this caucus tonight voted against Donald Trump. Think about that. I mean, this is the most famous Republican. He’s the guy who, you know, basically built the modern Republican Party, the MAGA Republican Party that the Democrats are running against. Half of the people in that party did not vote for Donald Trump.” He continued, “I think that is telling....
