"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy" (Matt. 5:7). God commends merciful people but condemns the merciless. Scripture shows that those whom God blessed most abundantly were abundantly merciful to others. Abraham, for example, helped rescue his nephew Lot even after Lot had wronged him. Joseph was merciful to his brothers after they sold him into slavery. Twice David spared Saul's life after Saul tried to kill him. But just as sure as God's commendation is upon those who show mercy, His condemnation is upon those who are merciless. Psalm 109:14-16 says, "Let the iniquity of [the merciless...

The Holy Spirit gave David the key to deliverance from his sorrows. David could say, “The reason God delivered me is that I am precious to him. My God delights in me!” “He also brought me out into a broad place; he delivered me because he delighted in me” (Psalm 18:19, NKJV). In Song of Solomon, the Lord says of his bride, “How fair and how pleasant you are, O love, with your delights” (Song of Solomon 7:6)! In turn, the bride boasts, “I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me” (Song of Solomon 7:10). These same thoughts...

The Dutch government has announced it will expand current euthanasia laws to allow medical assistance in dying for young children between the ages of one and 12 years old. According to the press release from the government, this will end the "hopeless and unbearable suffering" of up to 10 children each year who are terminally ill. Dutch Health Minister Ernst Kuipers, a doctor before becoming a politician, said, "This is a particularly complex subject that deals with very harrowing situations. I am pleased that, after intensive consultation with all parties involved, we have come to a solution with which we...

Jurassic Park is one of Steven Spielberg’s great films. Not only was Jurassic Park a milestone achievement in both digital and practical effects, but it also remains a well-crafted story about mankind, and it explores vitally important themes in an engaging way. If you were to ask the average viewer, however, who the villain of the film is, most would probably tell you that it’s the terrifying and dangerous Tyrannosaurus Rex that acts as the primary threat for much of the movie. This answer would be wrong. The central villain of Jurassic Park is not the loose T-Rex, the velociraptors,...

Molly Kearney — the skit show’s first non-binary cast member — dropped into the guest seat via a harness to slam politicians trying to eliminate healthcare for transgender youth. “As you know, I’ve been wanting to come to Update and talk about trans people. But I have them for a much longer time than that wanted to fly down from the ceiling,” the freshman featured player said. “But I’m not gonna lie, this harness is pretty tight and my groin area is beefed. I’ve been hung up by my genitals for far too long and I’m starting to feel like...

The New York Times has been accused of double standards by its own military correspondent, who noted his colleagues 'worked feverishly' to reveal who was behind the Pentagon leaks - yet would have worked equally intensely to protect his identity if he had leaked the documents to them. Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old National Guard airman, was named by the paper on Thursday as being behind the leak of the classified files, which he is accused of sharing on the social media platform Discord. Ninety minutes after Teixeira was identified by the paper, the FBI arrived at Teixeira's home in North...

Mo. attorney general files petition to oust Kim Gardner A George Soros-bankrolled prosecutor in St. Louis already mired in allegations of negligence and misconduct was hit with more bad news on Friday, when one of the few remaining prosecutors who handles the city's most violent felonies abruptly resigned, citing a "toxic work environment." Natalia Ogurkiewicz, 27, joined the office of St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner in 2020 and handled several murder and other felony cases. She initially planned to leave Gardner's office at the end of the month but announced Friday she was departing early, local media reported. In...

In most presidential election cycles, especially for the party out of power, the challenge is in keeping up with the people getting into the race. For observers of the 2024 Republican nomination steeplechase, keeping track of who’s getting out may be more of a challenge. Yesterday, Mike Pompeo surprised everyone at the end of his book tour by demurring:pic.twitter.com/0wVhCl66Vv— Mike Pompeo (@mikepompeo) April 14, 2023Frankly, I never understood how Pompeo would fit into the 2024 cycle if Trump ran anyway. If people want a return of the Trump administration, they’d vote for Trump — and if they didn’t, they wouldn’t...

Sean Patrick Flanery and Jordan Belfi in Nefarious I don’t do movie reviews because I don’t watch very many movies. I have a handful of movies that I dust off for semi-annual viewings (The Man Who Would Be King, Zulu, The Wind and the Lion, Master and Commander, Patton, We Were Soldiers Once, and Black Hawk Down among them), but movie-going is just not my thing. It seems like that when I do go out; my wife has chosen a movie, like, for instance, Father Stu and The Passion of the Christ. When we do find a non-woke and non-morally...

High fitness levels attenuate, but do not eliminate, the increased risk for cardiovascular mortality in men with high blood pressure, according to a research letter. Jari A. Laukkanen, M.D., Ph.D. and colleagues used data from the Kuopio Ischemic Heart Disease study (2,682 men; ages, 42 to 61 years) to prospectively evaluate the relationship among systolic blood pressure, cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), and cardiovascular disease-related mortality. The researchers found that during a median 28.5 years of follow-up, for blood pressure alone, high blood pressure was associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular mortality (hazard ratio [HR], 1.39). For fitness alone, a low...

Former President Donald Trump has raised more than $34 million for his 2024 White House run since the start of the year, buoyed by a big bump in donations since the announcement of criminal charges against him in New York, according to his campaign. His total after the March 30 indictment approached what he took in over the previous three months. Trump’s latest fundraising report due to be filed Saturday with the Federal Election Commission will show he raised more than $18.8 million between his main campaign account and a joint fundraising account over the the first three months of...

Americans are drinking less beer after Bud Light, among others, raised their prices. In AB InBev's (BUD) latest quarterly results, the total volume of beer sold decreased by 0.9%. At the same time, total revenue grew 10.2% to $14.67 billion, with price increases a key driver of that. After price increases and "really complicated" weather in the month of December, CEO Michel Doukeris called the Q4 results in the U.S. a "one-off, complicated quarter" in a call with investors. Last quarter, the average price of a 24-pack of 12 oz. beer went up nearly 8%, per NielsenIQ data that was...

This week in a press conference, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated that the U.S. economy is doing exceptionally well. "As I mentioned, the United States is doing extremely well economically, with inflation coming down in a strong labor market, and Europe is doing better than was feared at our last meeting." Contrast this to what real Americans think. In a recent IBD/TIPP Poll, over one-half (55%) believe the economy is in a recession, and another 56% (57% in March) think the economy is not improving. We welcome any good news. We always take Yellen's pronouncements with a pinch of salt....

Jeremy Hanson, 35, was angrily responding to definition changes for words like “girl,” “woman,” and “female.”Prosecutors had argued that Hanson has a history of “threatening communications, nearly all of which were motivated by … biases based upon race, gender, gender identity, and/or sexual orientation.”Hanson also allegedly sent angry messages to the American Civil Liberties Union, Amnesty International, Land O’ Lakes Inc., Hasbro, a nonbinary rabbi and others.Prosecutors also argued that they wanted to make an example of him and use his...
