On February 9, 2022, Andrew W. Coy asked, "What's the Deal with Mike Pence?" One thing is that former vice president Pence was always a weak leader. While he was governor, Indiana passed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 2015, which essentially clarified a federal law that Democrats overwhelmingly sponsored and President Clinton signed into law. Then-senator Barack Obama supported a similar state law in Illinois. Indiana's version simply stated that, in civil cases, courts could consider religious burdens that the conflict caused. The law never said religion would trump any other right. The left took this to mean that...

The Milton Keynes outfit will henceforth be known as Oracle Red Bull Racing, with the US-based company following on from Infiniti - who had the title deal from 2013 to 2015 - and Aston Martin, whose name was incorporated from 2018-2020. Honda was added to the end of the team name only for the 2021 season. Oracle first joined Red Bull last March in what was announced at the time as a multi-year deal, and which has now been upgraded. Since 2013 Oracle has also been the sole title sponsor of America's Cup contender Team USA, owned by company founder...

Diversity, equity and inclusion in the military are necessities for the United States, Bishop Garrison, the senior advisor to the secretary of defense for human capital and diversity, equity and inclusion said. Garrison spoke to the Center for a New American Security today about the progress being made by the department and what still needs to happen. Some 41 percent of the military identify as members of minority groups, and that number will grow larger, Garrison said. The military must be able to attract, train and retain them for the services to retain competitive edges, he said. ...

Promising news for people with long COVID may have arrived in a new case report, as two people report that their symptoms were almost completely relieved by taking common over-the-counter antihistamines. Authors of the new paper express that while the evidence thus far is anecdotal and based on a very small sample size, it’s a worthy avenue of investigation considering that – for most people – antihistamines are safe to take on a daily basis. “Patients tell us they wish more than anything that they could work and do the most basic activities they used to before they got sick...

New York Times journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones blasted the Rev. Al Sharpton on Wednesday for taking a get-tough stance on New York shoplifting — dismissing the crime wave as no big deal and suggesting that the longtime liberal activist was now backing the “carceral state.” Hannah-Jones, who spearheaded the controversial “1619 Project,” made the comments after Sharpton called on Mayor Eric Adams to stop surging thefts in the wake of The Post’s exclusive story of a Trader Joe’s shoplifter who made off with 10 steaks.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A federal appeals court has declined, for now, to allow the Biden administration to require COVID-19 vaccinations for federal employees. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans ruled 2-1 Wednesday to maintain a block on the mandate that a Texas-based federal judge had issued on Jan. 21. The administration had asked the New Orleans court for an injunction allowing the federal worker mandate to move forward pending appeal. President Joe Biden announced in September that more than 3.5 million federal workers were required to undergo vaccination, with no option to get regularly tested...

The mom starts by dumping a...

Deputies responding to reports of a woman’s body found along a hiking trail in Middle Georgia ended up with an even odder case on their hands. The “body” turned out to be a life-sized doll, complete with clothes and accessories. Deputies were called to reports of a body found along a trail in the Hitchiti National Forest north of Macon. Deputies couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief and poke a little bit of fun at the discovery on Facebook. “Never missing the opportunity, the crime scene was appropriately processed and the evidence was collected and brought to the...

The largest public power company in the U.S. is launching a program to develop and fund new small modular nuclear reactors as part of its strategy to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The board for the Tennessee Valley Authority on Thursday authorized the program to assess moving forward with new nuclear technology, with up to $200 million to be spent for the first phase. The TVA wants the technology to be available to help power the grid in the 2030s if it proves cost-effective and necessary, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission approves. The board met at Western Kentucky University in...

Unable to tame inflation that has worsened sharply under his watch, President Joe Biden stressed Thursday that his administration’s policies would cut prescription drug prices and make life more affordable for families. He traveled to Culpeper, Virginia, on the heels of a dire inflation report on Thursday morning. Consumer prices jumped 7.5% over the year ending in January, as the sources of inflation have broadened on a monthly basis with increases in the costs of rent, electricity, clothes and household furnishings. Inflation poses a triple threat for Biden. Prices at a 40-year peak have dimmed his public support and endangered...

A school district in Enfield, Connecticut was left with pie on its face after asking eighth-graders to share their sexual desires in the form of pizza toppings. 'Now that you know this metaphor for sex, let's explore your preferences!' explained the instruction pamphlet distributed to students in a recent health class at John F. Kennedy Middle School. 'Draw and color your favorite type of pizza,' it added. 'What's your favorite style of pizza? Your favorite toppings? What are your pizza no-nos? Now mirror these preferences in relation to sex!' As if that wasn't explicit enough, the instructions offered some suggestions....

Memorial of Saint Scholastica, Virgin Mark 7:24-30 Friends, our Gospel for today, the story of Jesus’ conversation with the Syro-Phoenician woman, is one of those famously problematic passages in the New Testament. This poor woman, a Canaanite, a foreigner, comes forward and tells Jesus of her daughter who is troubled by a demon. She prostrates herself at his feet, but Jesus says, “It is not right to take the food of the children and throw it to the dogs.” Of course, the woman responds with one of the best one-liners in the Scriptures, almost all of which otherwise belong to...

*** The banking giant said Bitcoin is nearing a “hyper-adoption phase” similar to the internet in the mid-to-late 1990 *** It is not too late to invest in bitcoin, said multinational financial services giant Wells Fargo in a Monday report, drawing parallels between the adoption rates of the internet in the 1990s and that of cryptocurrencies today. Wells Fargo’s global investment strategy team explained in the report that Bitcoin’s over 200% annualized gains since its first transaction in 2010 often lead some investors to think that it may be too late to join the party. However, the big bank disagrees....

"Defund police" is arguably the most destructive, idiotic political slogan in living memory. No serious person – certainly no elected leader worthy of any respect – should have ever supported it in practice or principle. But many Democrats did, and there must be accountability for such insanity. Thousands of lives – including a record number of cops – have been lost to increased criminal violence because the Left told lies about law enforcement when it suited their politics. The causation of the national crime wave is straightforward. After the killing of George Floyd in May 2020, the Black Lives Matter...
