Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) reacted to the latest caravan of migrants heading to the U.S-Mexico border during the ongoing border crisis. After highlighting on FNC’s “Fox & Friends” that President Joe Biden has yet to visit the border to see the problem firsthand, McCarthy said the inaction is “making every city in America a border city.” The Republican from California urged Biden to meet with him and his colleagues to solve the crisis.

The fall of new coronavirus infections gave a boost to consumer confidence in October but inflation fears are still rising, the Conference Board said Tuesday. “While short-term inflation concerns rose to a 13-year high, the impact on confidence was muted. The proportion of consumers planning to purchase homes, automobiles, and major appliances all increased in October—a sign that consumer spending will continue to support economic growth through the final months of 2021,” said Lynn Franco, the senior director of economic indicators at the Conference Board.

Sixty Border Patrol agents were found to have committed misconduct by posting “explicit and violent messages” mocking migrants and threatening lawmakers on Facebook — but only two were actually fired, investigators said Monday. A sweeping investigation by the House Oversight and Reform Committee found that the majority of agents had their punishments significantly reduced after it emerged that they’d posted photos and comments in a closed Facebook group back in 2019.
