“Why did the Camp Administration give out-and-out criminals (such as thieves, killers, big-time bribe-takers, and rapists) all kinds of privileges in comparison to the politicals in the camp?...They were given opportunities to work for the Camp Administration, to get easy jobs, and to receive reduced sentences. Why, when these people were actually the more dangerous elements for society? In the presence of the security platoon on the outside, these criminals ran the camp on the inside, by terrorizing, and subordinating the other prisoners to themselves.”
