Rip those stars off your pathetic nostalgia costumes and resign. Quit. Tell that crusty Pinocchio in the White House and the faculty lounge Geppettos tugging his strings that you will have no more to do with his human centipede of failure in Kabul. It’s not hard – your stars are right there, generals, right on the shoulders of those new uniforms you decided to adopt with the express purpose of evoking World War II and the memory of victory over a modern, peer-competitor military. Maybe, you thought, wearing winner’s gear would ease the pain of getting creamed by a bunch...

In recent in vitro tests, Marinomed included four lentiviruses differently pseudotyped with the spike protein of wild-type SARS-CoV-2 or one of the three variants B.1.1.7, B1.351 and P1, respectively. Carragelose was able to inactivate all four virus forms at concentrations below 5 µg/ml. This is clinically relevant for the use of Carragelose-containing products: The marketed nasal sprays have a Carragelose concentration of 1.2 mg / ml, a more than 200-fold higher dose as shown to be effective in vitro. The non-sulfated polymers HPMC and CMC were ineffective even at the highest concentrations tested. In addition, two of the three SARS-CoV-2...

Where is American leadership in the world today? My sources on the ground in Afghanistan told me a grim story. The British and U.S. commanders got into a screaming match on the runway about the anticipated U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan on Aug. 31. This led to an unprecedented rebuke by the British government and former Prime Minister Tony Blair. The Brits called President Joe Biden's actions "imbecilic," and said that the forces have a "moral obligation to remain" until all citizens and personnel are evacuated. The British are furious to say the least. All of NATO wants the U.S. to...

On this episode of the Resistance Library Podcast, Sam and Dave discuss the subtle differences between “freedom” vs. “liberty.” The terms "freedom" and "liberty" have become clichés in modern political parlance. Because these words are invoked so much by politicians and their ilk, their meanings are almost synonymous and used interchangeably. That's confusing – and can be dangerous – because their definitions are actually quite different. "Freedom" is predominantly an internal construct. Viktor Frankl, the legendary Holocaust survivor who wrote Man's Search For Meaning, said it well: “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of...

In 1975, President Ford was left to manage the difficult ending of the Vietnam War. President Ford went to Congress for a relief package to allow American personnel and our allies to evacuate. However, there was ONE U.S. SENATOR who opposed any such support. The result was the embarrassing and hurried evacuation from the roof of the American Embassy in Saigon. This Senator reveled in the embarrassment and did everything he could to leverage it politically against Ford. Despite the efforts of this one U.S. Senator, President Ford managed to rescue 1,500 South Vietnamese allies prior to the country’s falls....

Whatever the final disposition of coalition forces in Afghanistan, personnel trapped in Taliban-controlled territory must be secured and evacuated. The current situation in Afghanistan grows more dire by the day for the fate of the thousands of American, coalition, and Afghan civilians trapped by the Taliban. The last time the United States was faced with comparable thousands of its civilians trapped behind enemy lines was 1942 when the Japanese invaded and overran the Philippines. Back then, the outcome for U.S. civilians and prisoners of war was brutal beyond belief. Fortunately, the situation in Afghanistan should not require three years and...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) husband Paul has invested between $250,000 and $500,000 in 18 hotels across the country, according to a House disclosure. The hotels branded by Marriott and Hilton are in the following cities: Paul’s investment strategy also included purchasing call options worth between $500,001 and $1 million shortly after the Pentagon revered course and canceled a Microsoft contract, creating an opportunity for Amazon to again bid for the contract that was awarded to their rival.

Leading British newspaper Daily Mail reported that “Joe Biden was filmed crumbling after he called on Fox News journalist Peter Doocy at a press conference, only to be accused of failing to answer Doocy’s question.” The Daily Mail raised concerns about Joe Biden’s mental and medical condition: Biden, 78, looked lost for words after being asked if he bore responsibility for an ISIS-K suicide attack at Kabul Airport on Thursday that killed 13 US service personnel, before bowing his head and clutching a file tightly around his hands.

Twitter users reacted to what some claimed to be the "defining image" of President Biden’s news conference on the Afghanistan crisis Thursday. On Thursday, Biden held another press briefing to discuss the recent bombings at Kabul’s airport in Afghanistan that resulted in the death of 13 U.S. service members and wounding more than a dozen others. After condemning ISIS-K for the attack, Biden took questions from the press, including Fox News reporter Peter Doocy. Doocy asked Biden if he accepts responsibility for the way things have unfolded in Afghanistan in the last two weeks. Biden responded "I bear responsibility for...

Texas Republicans advanced new voting restrictions Thursday night after months of protests by Democrats, who after returning from a 38-day walkout are now all but out of ways to stop a bill that includes a ban on drive-thru voting and would empower poll watchers. The nearly 50-page bill passed the Texas House on a 79-37 mostly party-line vote, moving fast a week after Democrats ended their holdout. Republican Gov. Greg Abbott says he will sign the measure that is on track to reach his desk by early September, if not sooner. In what is now the GOP's third try at...

As a global pandemic raged and governments began locking down and sheltering citizens in place, the United States Congress allocated $46.5 billion in rental assistance. With a moratorium in place to prevent evictions, Congress was mindful landlords would need help paying the mortgages on their rental properties. Renters would need help paying rent. Over the last year, only $1.7 billion of the $46.5 billion has been distributed. Now, with the Supreme Court unwilling to extend an eviction moratorium Congress did not actually authorize and Congress also unwilling to extend it, evictions will begin. It was avoidable because Congress allocated the...

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Friday that inflation has risen enough to warrant a reduction in the central bank’s support for the recovering economy, potentially by the end of the year. In a Friday virtual speech, Powell said that the rate of price increases had achieved the “substantial further progress” necessary for the Fed to begin reducing its $120 billion in monthly bond purchases, and he expects the labor market to strengthen to that point as well soon. “At the FOMC's recent July meeting, I was of the view, as were most participants, that if the economy evolved broadly...

Well, here we are - another day the market is rallying hard after Jerome Powell provides reassurance that the Fed will continue to come in and save the day. What a fool I am for occasionally buying puts on SPY on the days he speaks (well, maybe for buying puts on SPY at any time!). At some point, there has to be some type of correction, right? There are too many uncertainties and mishaps that have occurred and can occur under this administration. I'm guessing a long-term hedge might be best.

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA — A 49-year-old woman is on the mend after developing a disturbing post-injection immune-mediated skin disorder. Researchers at the Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Hospital in Riyadh published their peer-reviewed case study last week. The unnamed woman went to the emergency room one week after receiving the first dose of experimental Pfizer mRNA. They describe the case as follows: The patient started to develop fever, fatigue, and headache followed by skin lesions affecting her trunk and starting to spread to her face and upper limbs with oral ulceration. Patient was seen in the primary health care center and...

Canada’s minister for women and gender equality Maryam Monsef “has referred to the Taliban as ‘our brothers’ during a virtual news conference. Monsef stated: “I want to take this opportunity to speak to our brothers, the Taliban…“ “Our brothers?” Whose “brothers” exactly is Monsef referring to? As an elected representative, who once served as Minister for Democratic Institutions as well, Monsef is responsible for answering questions, yet she will not do so and likely could never answer honestly. So now she has opted to insult the intelligence of Canadians by attempting to explain away her reference to “our brothers” the...

From Acts17Apologetics: "Taliban jihadis are taking women and girls captive and forcing them to become wives or sex slaves. Women who aren't taken as wives or sex slaves are expected to prepare meals for jihadis. Recently, a woman who was too poor to cook for the Taliban was beaten to death. David Wood discusses the issue."

Prior to the 1950s, paralytic polio was a scourge. FDR was crippled from it in while in his 30s, the March of Dimes was started to combat it, and photos of rows and rows of children in iron lungs were common in the media. And from this situation, vaccines were developed to combat the disease. Polio is caused by one of three types of poliovirus that can cause paralysis and death. In the 1950s, two vaccines were independently developed to combat it, one by Jonas Salk and the other Albert Sabin. [SNIP] In the early 1950s, Salk was the first...
