Spring breakers invading Miami Beach have become so uncontrollable that authorities imposed a curfew on Saturday and declared a state of emergency as SWAT teams were seen moving in to clear people out. A SWAT vehicle was filmed moving down Ocean Drive - a popular party street - and using an LRAD, also known as a sound cannon, to get people to disperse, video posted to Twitter shows. Republicans are aiming to stir up a legal battle over Biden's pandemic relief bill, targeting a provision in the American Rescue Plan they say is an unconstitutional infringement on states' ability to devise their own tax policies. A provision in the bill that forbids states from using billions in aid to offset any tax cuts they might implement has sparked a backlash from Republican lawmakers and state attorneys general. Their criticisms could lay the groundwork for a court battle over states' rights and government overreach akin to the Supreme Court case over the fate of ObamaCare. This time, the GOP...

Quentin Kidd, the dean of Arts and Sciences at Christopher Newport University, said the embrace of Mr. Trump and his debunked claims of massive voter fraud is the result of a candidate like Chase pushing the field to the right, and of an "echo chamber" occupied by GOP candidates and the base. "Election integrity is the number one issue to the base. And in a race like this one, that's all you're really talking to," added Virginia Republican strategist David Alvarez. Kidd predicted Cox or Snyder would win the nomination, but said whoever it is will have a problem appealing...

VIRGINIA GOVERNOR RALPH “BLACKFACE” NORTHAM IS CALLING FOR BACKUP AHEAD OF AN ELECTION CYCLE DEMOCRATS FEAR COULD SWEEP THEM OUT OF POWER IN THE STATE, RESTORING VOTING RIGHTS FOR OVER 69,000 CONVICTED FELONS LESS THAN 8 MONTHS AHEAD OF ELECTION DAY. While incumbent Northam isn’t eligible for re-election himself due to consecutive term limiting, his old boss Terry McAuliffe is, and he’s running to become the first Virginia Governor in nearly half a century to be elected to two non-consecutive terms. As Governor, McAuliffe had no issue using even the most violent of convicted felons for Democrat political purposes, once...

An extraordinary catalogue of sexual misconduct allegations against Metropolitan police officers, including claims that one had sex with a rape victim and another assaulted a domestic abuse survivor, are revealed in documents obtained by the Observer. The disclosures will intensify pressure on the Met after its officers manhandled women at last Saturday’s vigil for Sarah Everard where hundreds demanded the right to be safe on London’s streets. Organisers of the vigil on Clapham Common subsequently accused the force of losing the faith of women and being unable to tackle its “institutional misogyny”. Campaigners said the latest revelations amplified concern among...

CBS News projects that Republican Julia Letlow will win the special election for Louisiana's 5th district, taking over the would-be seat of her late husband, Luke Letlow, who died of COVID-19 complications days before he could be sworn in. She will be the first Republican woman to represent Louisiana in Congress, and will boost the number of Republican women currently serving in the house to a record 31. "This is an incredible moment and it is truly hard to put into words," Letlow said in a statement Saturday night. "What was born out of the terrible tragedy of losing my...

Wokester fanatics have turned up in many epochs of history, and all went the same way. Wokeness is an offshoot of Christianity. So historian Tom Holland argues in Dominion: The Making of the Western Mind (2019). If he had followed his argument to its logical conclusion he would have arrived at the same conclusion I did -- that woke progressivism will crash and burn. This is because the adherents of woke progressivism find it impossible to live up to their utopian expectations. Sooner or later the cognitive dissonance of living in a state of self-contradiction will become translated into a...

The people with a vested interest in Coronavirus panic, and panic in general, are: 1.”experts”, 2.businesses with the right niche, 3.leftist politicians, 4.media. Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) is still frustrated by how COVID-19 relief bill negotiations went down, The Wall Street Journal reports. Specifically, Collins is not pleased about what she considers to have been a brusque dismissal when she and a group of other Republican senators sat down with President Biden in early February to try to reach consensus on a package. The senator, who has built a moderate reputation over the years, told the Journal that she's confused as to why the Biden administration, which ultimately saw its $1.9 trillion stimulus pass through Congress without Republican support in either chamber, "would...

Our NJ.com foodies have been raving about the mustard pie from Papa’s Tomato Pies in Robbinsville for years. Naturally, I had to see what all the fuss was about for our latest series, N.J. Takeout Stakeout, which highlights great to-go dishes across the state. Mustard on pizza? I know, it sounds crazy but, trust me, it’s crazy delicious! The pros at Papa’s know what they’re doing. The spicy brown mustard is drizzled onto the dough first. Then comes the cheese and, finally, the lightly sweet tomato sauce is spooned onto the top of the pie before going into the oven....

Is your adorable puppy as bad for the planet as a gas-guzzling SUV? While the precise carbon pawprint of our pets is the source of scientific debate, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: lovable, they may be, cats and dogs have an impact on the planet. In their 2009 book “Time to Eat the Dog?”, Brenda and Robert Vale sparked anger among pet owners for saying that the meat eaten by an average canine companion had twice the carbon footprint as driving an SUV 10,000 kilometres. A decade on, the verdict is still out on the planetary impact linked to...

An iconic Twin Cities restaurant is back in business less than a year after it was destroyed in last summer's riots. For the last 31 years Brit's Pub has been a downtown Minneapolis institution. "There’s been weddings, birthdays, christenings, funerals, everybody’s got a Brit’s story," said General Manager Shane Higgins. Yet Brit’s story nearly came to an unfortunate end back in August, after video of a man committing suicide, while being pursued by Minneapolis Police, went viral. The video led many to believe it was police who killed the man and that misunderstanding led to businesses downtown being torched and ransacked....

An upstate New York town is holding a squirrel hunting competition for teens this weekend — sparking death threats and an animal rights petition signed by 20,000 people who ripped the yearly event as “barbaric.” The seventh annual “Squirrel Scramble” in Germantown on Saturday is open to “men, women and youth hunters,” with the main focus on teenagers aged 12 to 15, according to HudsonValley 360. A poster for the Germantown Sportsmen’s Association event — featuring the Looney Tunes hunter Elmer Fudd pointing a gun at a squirrel — stresses that “all legal firearms” are allowed, with a top prize...

You won’t see Ryan Turell knocking down 3-pointers and locking up the opponent’s best player on defense, the way he always does for the nation’s hottest men’s college basketball team, when the NCAA Tournament starts Friday. That’s because Turell plays for Division III Yeshiva University, where the postseason is canceled for the second straight season because of COVID-19, but he is on a quest to become the first Orthodox Jewish player in the modern NBA, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times. Turell has a pride in his faith, much different than when he didn’t want to wear...

“I’m an outlaw,” Dimas “Pompi” Rodriguez told the Guardian of working as one of Florida’s feral hog poachers, a line of work which authorities and homeowners turn a blind eye to due to the animals’ massively destructive existence. hough the topic became a laughing stock in 2019 after a viral tweet about assault weapons, the hogs have actually become America’s biggest wildlife challenge. After pigs escaped from a Spanish explorer near Tampa in 1539, the animals grew into a 9 million strong population present in 39 states. The pests cause what the US Department of Agriculture estimates to be more...
