DES MOINES — An hour before kickoff at a game this month at Hoover High School, the opposing football team, Indianola High, pulled up and unloaded the large video monitor that would let its coaching staff analyze plays, moment by moment, throughout the game. The coaches at Hoover High, where most students qualify for free or reduced-price meals, would have to make do with watching the old-fashioned way. Another loss, a Hoover student told the principal, seemed imminent. Indianola ran 84 yards for a touchdown on their first play, the running back shedding Hoover’s smaller players like a video-game villain....

he Federal Reserve on Tuesday injected longer-term cash into the U.S. banking system in an effort to meet the funding needs of banks and Wall Street following a bout of turbulence in money markets last week. The New York Federal Reserve added $30.0 billion cash into the banking system through 14-day loans to primary dealers. These 14-day term repurchase agreements (repo) were on top of the $75 billion in temporary cash through an overnight repo operation. Primary dealers, or the top 24 Wall Street firms that do business directly with Fed, borrow from the central bank by using their Treasuries...

Like growing numbers of public high school students across the country, many California kids are receiving classroom instruction in how race, class, gender, sexuality and citizenship status are tools of oppression, power and privilege. They're taught about colonialism, state violence, racism, intergenerational trauma, heteropatriarchy and the common thread that links them: “whiteness.” skip Advocates believe they are within striking distance of making ethnic studies a graduation requirement in high schools across the country, making it a prerequisite for preparing students to navigate the world, much as learning about the Western tradition had once been. Skip “We don’t want students to...

Russia may be an adversary, but it is not our number one enemy. Neither is China, which may have over a billion people but we’re its best customer and they’ve invested too much in this nation to risk our destruction. Iranian leaders, on the other hand, have made no secret that they hate America and everything we stand for. The leading mullahs are true believers in a caliphate that will conquer the world. The 21st century has seen a broad mainstream embrace of a collective Muslim identity by young Muslims and the appeal of a caliphate as an idealized future...

A former staffer in the George W. Bush White House has urged his “fellow Latinos” to vote President Trump out of office, saying Republicans "have lost control of the monster they helped create." “I am a Republican,” Abel Guerra wrote in an opinion piece published by The Washington Post on Wednesday. “I worked in the George W. Bush White House. And I say to my fellow Latinos: I’m not asking you to become a Democrat. But I am asking you to vote President Trump out of office.”

While the liberal broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) were busy fawning over the bitter ranting of radical climate teen Greta Thunberg at the United Nations on Monday, they completely ignored her cohorts in Washington, D.C. staging an illegal protest to shut down the city’s major traffic arteries, resulting in an all-day traffic nightmare in the nation’s capital. “The President's critics say he does not take the threat of climate change seriously enough if at all. So, environmental activists decided to draw attention to the issue by shutting down, and I mean completely shutting down traffic here in the nation's...

The United Kingdom, France and Germany released a statement overnight backing the United States' assessment Iran is behind the recent and economically devastating attack on Saudi Arabia. "We, the leaders of France, Germany and the United Kingdom, recall our shared common security interests, in particular upholding the global non-proliferation regime and preserving stability in the Middle East. We condemn in the strongest terms the attacks on oil facilities on Saudi territory on September 14th, 2019 in Abqaiq and Khurais, and reaffirm in this context our full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its population," a joint statement released...

But next, we note that it's not just America's colleges and universities. As I said in the beginning, there is a pass down, a filter down process throughout the rest of the culture and of course that means high schools and even middle schools and elementary schools as well. As a matter of fact these days, many of the same ideas and intellectual agendas show up in pre-school. But now I want to turn to an article by John Murawski entitled, “Woke History Is Making Big Inroads in America's High Schools.” He writes, "Like growing numbers of public high school...

NEW YORK—On Sept. 23 before the opening of this year’s 74th UN General Assembly, Polish President Andrzej Duda met with President Donald Trump. The declaration builds on the premises of the prior agreement on defense cooperation between the United States and Poland, signed in June this year, that establishes a U.S. military presence on Polish territory of approximately 4,500 military personnel. This enduring presence will grow by about 1,000 additional U.S. military personnel in the near-term according to the declaration signed in June. The agreement was signed...

Whether it’s the Green New Deal, in which climate change abatement is only one of several radical proposals, or the general brainwashing of the younger generations about the impending end of the world, the absence of rational analysis and the willful ignorance of facts is counterproductive. Rather than promoting a feasible approach to dealing with climate change, the magnitude of which remains uncertain, the focus is on unfeasible approaches and unachievable goals. Leaders from around the world will be at it in earnest this week during the United Nations Climate Action Summit 2019. Many approaches to climate change are analogous...

[Catholic Caucus] Marx Admits: Vatican’s Opposition Against "Synodal Way" Was A Bluff There is "no stop sign from Rome” against the "Synodal Way”, said Cardinal Marx, the President of the German Bishops on 23 September at the beginning of their Plenary Assembly in Fulda. In early September, Cardinal Marc Ouellet still gave the impression that the Vatican had reservations against this de-facto synod. Now, Marx gave the all-clear, saying that on 20 September he had "constructive talks" with Francis and Ouellet. For Marx "constructive" means, "I made it clear that I see certain things differently." At least Marx agreed to...

Spain's Supreme Court has ruled that the remains of dictator Francisco Franco should be exhumed. It backed the Socialist government's plan to move the remains from a state mausoleum to a less controversial site. An appeal by Franco's family against the exhumation and proposing an alternative site was rejected. The issue has divided opinion in Spain, which remains haunted by the Franco era. He won the 1930s civil war and went on to rule Spain until 1975.
