US researchers say satellite images suggest North Korea may be preparing to deploy a ballistic missile-capable submarine. Researchers at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies and satellite operator Planet Labs have told NHK that they have analyzed images of a shipyard in the eastern port city of Sinpo. On September 3 at least 13 pillar-like objects could be seen along a quay, with some vehicles moving around. Images taken on September 12 show the construction of a large structure straddling the quay and the water. The most recent images from Thursday, show the structure covering almost the entire quay. A New Jersey man is accused of being a secret Hezbollah operative in the United States for more than a decade, surveilling potential attack sites in New York City, Boston and Washington, prosecutors said Thursday. Alexei Saab, 42, from Morristown, was charged under a nine-count indictment in connection with a range of alleged terror activities. They included providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization (FTO) and receiving military-style training from that group, the Justice Department said. “Even though Saab was a naturalized American citizen, his true allegiance was to Hezbollah, the terrorist organization responsible for decades of terrorist...

President Donald Trump’s former minions just don’t get it. Most Americans don’t want to ever see or hear from them again. We wish they would just go somewhere and hide. But for some reason, likely because they need the money and crave the limelight as much as the egomaniac they used to work for, these societal outcasts keep trying to force themselves on us. Take former White House press secretary Sean Spicer, for example. He didn’t have the decency to turn down an invitation by administrators at Northeastern Illinois University to participate in a recent panel discussion on campus about...

In a big moment for India-US relations, President Donald Trump has decided to join Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s diaspora outreach event called ‘Howdy, Modi!’ in Houston, Texas. Trump also plans to address the 50,000-strong gathering along with Modi. This is a big win for Indian diplomacy. Coming at a time when Pakistan has tried to internationalise the Kashmir issue, Trump’s presence in Houston signals that Washington is in New Delhi’s corner. It also puts to rest the confusion over Trump’s previous statements on mediating in the Kashmir dispute. The Modi-Trump meet on the sidelines of the recent G7 summit in...

Apple Inc’s new iPhones will use recycled rare earth elements in a key component, the company said on Wednesday. Apple said it will use recycled rare earths in its “Taptic Engine,” a part that lets iPhones mimic a physical button click despite being a flat pane of glass. The part is about one-quarter of the rare earth elements inside the iPhone models. Rare earths, a group of 17 specialized minerals, have become a flash point in trade tensions between the United States and China. The elements are used in weapons, consumer electronics and other goods. China dominates the processing of...

President Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani tore into CNN's Chris Cuomo during an interview Thursday night, calling the CNN host a "sellout" during a contentious exchange over Giuliani's efforts to get Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden. Giuliani accused Cuomo of being "totally biased" during a heated back-and-forth after the Trump lawyer denied that he had asked Ukraine to look into Biden before seconds later acknowledging that "of course" he had asked for such a review. "You're trying to distort what I'm saying because you're totally biased," Giuliani argued over pushback from the CNN host. "You are, Chris. It's...

Apologize for such a short vanity, but I want to express a thought that is distressing me a lot: In the era of Obama, I worried about new and restrictive gun control laws, and none came. Yet... In the era of Trump, I was sure new and restrictive gun control laws would not come, but now I have to worry about them. It boggles the mind.

Researchers from Arizona State University and Texas A&M University questioned 462 financial journalists around the country. They followed up with 18 additional interviews. The journalists worked for the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Washington Post, Associated Press and a number of other newspapers. What they found surprised them. Even the supposedly hard-nosed financial reporters were overwhelmingly liberal . Of the 462 people surveyed, 17.63% called themselves "very liberal," while 40.84% described themselves as "somewhat liberal." When you add it up, 58.47% admit to being left of center. Along with that, another 37.12% claim to be "moderate." What about...

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has forced Christian churches across Henan province to replace the Ten Commandments with quotes from President Xi Jinping in its latest effort to “sinicize” religious practice in the officially atheist country. One pastor from a state-run Protestant church said that the CCP’s latest move is part of a systematic plan to erode Christian doctrine in the country, adding that the ultimate goal of the party is to “become God.” “The government’s first step is to prohibit religious couplets” said the pastor, who spoke under the condition of anonymity. “Then it dismantles crosses and starts to...

On Sunday, September 15, Marie-Ange Brumelot had just crested a hill in Central Park on her third and final lap of an 18-mile race hosted by the New York Road Runners. Of course I wanted to catch him.” Brumelot, who is running the Chicago Marathon on October 13, planned a hard...

Comedian Chelsea Handler told CNN anchor Chris Cuomo on Wednesday that Trump is, “the pinnacle of white privilege.” “Let’s keep other people down so we keep winning, so I can keep filling my own pockets,’” Handler said referring to Trump. “At some point, if you really want equality, you have to be OK with other people succeeding … He and the Republican Party at this point are about no one succeeding except for them.” She went on to say, “The pinnacle of white privilege is him. It was set to go into effect Aug. 28 and criminalizes abortions after eight weeks of pregnancy. It also triggered bans at 14, 18 and 20 weeks if the initial eight-week ban was found unconstitutional.

South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg decided to finally chime in on the fact that 2,246 fetal remains were discovered at the home of the late Dr. Ulrich Klopfer, a former abortionist, who died earlier this month. Family members were going through belongings on his property when they made the discovery. "Like everyone, I find the news out of Illinois, extremely disturbing," Buttigieg told reporters. "I think it's important that that be fully investigated. I also hope that it doesn't get caught up in politics at a time when women need access to health care. There's no question that what...
