OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma has offered $10 billion to $12 billion to settle thousands of lawsuits related to its alleged role in the U.S. opioid crisis. The proposal emerged from mediation hearings between lawyers for the Sackler family-owned pharmaceutical firm and at least 10 state attorneys general and plaintiffs’ attorneys, NBC News reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. Purdue Pharma board member David Sackler appeared at the Aug. 20 meeting in Cleveland on behalf of the Sackler family. “While Purdue Pharma is prepared to defend itself vigorously in the opioid litigation, the company has made clear that it sees...

Netflix has released comedian Dave Chappelle's latest stand-up special. Throughout his nearly hour-long set, Chappelle demonstrates that he may be the most fearless celebrity in America. At one point or another, every viewer will be offended. At most points, though, viewers will not only laugh but marvel at the comedian's ability to skewer what he calls the "cancel culture" while making a mockery of political correctness. With his latest special, Chappelle proves that he is the PC culture's worst nightmare.

America prevails again President Donald J. Trump asserted an imposing physical dominance over his fellow world leaders at the G7 Summit in France, a Free Beacon analysis has found. Using a number of advanced techniques deployed by elite negotiators, President Trump successfully demonstrated physical supremacy over his so-called peers. According to the analysis, Trump's unapologetic display of American dominance stands in marked contrast to the supine deference of his predecessor, Barack Obama. Here's a sampling of what our analysts found: Narendra Modi (India) Boris Johnson (Great Britain) Justin Trudeau (Canada) Emmanuel Macron (France)

'There's a sense that conservatism is normal, and that white conservative men are the norm' MSNBC's AM Joy host Joy Reid on Sunday likened the coverage of President Donald Trump to the media's treatment of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler in the 1930s. Reid and her panel spent several minutes going after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) and claimed he was helping Trump allegedly empower white nationalism, according to Newsbusters. After other panelists spoke, Reid jumped into the conversation to suggest McConnell was intentionally trying to destroy the United States for minorities before they gain power in the future....

Surveillance video shows the woman driving up in her Mercedes SUV and walking up to the front of the building with a power saw in hand. It appears she tried to break in through different windows until she was able to cut through one area of glass. “Looks like the average soccer mom in a Mercedes trying to break into your business,” Police are still looking for the woman and are asking for the public’s help in identifying her. Perez said he’s also personally offering a $5,000 reward for an arrest in the burglary.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Racism in America is an institutional “white man’s problem visited on people of color,” Vice President Joe Biden said Tuesday, arguing that the way to attack the issue is to defeat President Donald Trump and hold him responsible for deepening the nation’s racial divide. Taking aim at incendiary racial appeals by Trump, Biden said in an interview with a small group of reporters that a president’s words can “appeal to the worst damn instincts of human nature,” just as they can move markets or take a nation into war.

Elmore County, Idaho is a beautiful place where the Snake River flows and host of the Mountain Home Air Force Base. It’s a peaceful place where one can live and, hopefully, die in peace. In the early summer of 2019, Elmore County’s coroner Jerry Rost decided he wanted to retire. He had trained his assistant and deputy coroner of 13 years, Nickie Campbell to replace him. Elmore, like many Idaho counties, elects its coroner during regular election cycles. Rost’s retirement outside an election cycle meant that the Elmore County Republican Central Committee (ECRCC) needed to submit 3 names for consideration...

Back in 2015, we covered the Obama administration’s far-reaching Waters of the United States (WOTUS) Rule and the pushback it received at the time. States’ suits are making their way through the courts, and there is good news to report! U.S. District Judge Lisa Godbey Wood has handed a victory to the state of Georgia and nine other states that sued the federal government (and to the rest of the nation) by declaring that the WOTUS Rule is unlawful. Wood stated that the rule, which was intended to provide better protection of the nation’s water, violated the Clean Water Act...

A Massachusetts woman passed away this weekend after contracting eastern equine encephalitis, a rare mosquito-borne disease that can target the central nervous system. After her death, the woman’s daughter shared a touching tribute to the woman who taught her how to live life to the fullest. Laurie Sylvia started noticing symptoms just six days before her death at the age of 59. According to WCVB-TV, the cause of Sylvia’s death was, in fact, EEE, though the illness is incredibly rare in the United States. The virus, transmitted through mosquitos, causes brain infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control. The...

Since the British political and media establishment sees the global jihad and Sharia oppression solely in racial terms, the official line is that Mark Edmunds was fired for being “white” while investigating crimes committed by “Asians,” but if the “Asians” in question had been Hindus, he never would have been fired. He was fired because in Britain today, Muslims, not “Asians,” are a protected class who have special privileges above the law. As a once-great nation continues in its death throes.

Ty Schmitt is a landscape photographer by profession, but his true passion is for the angry sky above. For the past eight years, Schmitt has been chasing storms, a lifestyle many were first exposed to in the 1996 blockbuster Twister. The photographer spent the past five of those years closely tracking storms in the Midwest, and the three years before that shooting monsoon thunderstorms in Arizona. “People come from around the world to chase storms in the Midwest as it produces the most photogenic storms in the world,” Schmitt tells me over email. “The Great Plains is the Mecca for...

The DOJ’s brief filed Friday in the R.G. and G.R. Harris Funeral Homes v. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission case contended it is the role of Congress, not the courts, to amend the law to include gender identity, if it chooses to do so. Aimee Stephens, a biological man who identifies as a woman, filed a complaint with the EEOC in 2014 for wrongful termination against R.G. and G.R. Harris Funeral Homes, claiming unlawful discrimination based on sexual identity. The funeral home dress code has certain requirements in accordance with industry standards for men and women. Nevertheless, the EEOC determined the...

Lee said, “The commission would study reparation proposals. We would not dictate to the commission its design but, clearly, it would be designed for those descendants of slavery. Tragically, 250 years of slavery in the United States for those enslaved Africans did not receive workman’s comp, salary, 401(k), or anything, and literally built the wealth of the United States and Europe. That’s why it was called the trans-Atlantic slave trade, taking enslaved Africans from Africa, frankly, from many parts of Africa. This commission would have the authority appointed by the President, the Majority Leader, the Speaker, and scholars, to really...

A Washington, DC, mom says her political-consultant husband left her for Rep. Ilhan Omar, according to a bombshell divorce filing obtained by The Post. Dr. Beth Mynett says her cheating spouse, Tim Mynett, told her in April that he was having an affair with the Somali-born US representative — and that he even made a “shocking declaration of love” for the Minnesota congresswoman before he ditched his wife, alleges the filing, submitted in DC Superior Court on Tuesday. The physician, 55, and her 38-year-old husband — who has worked for left-wing Democrats such as Omar and her Minnesota predecessor, Keith...

“Didn’t the Council of Nicaea just arbitrarily pick the books for the Bible that they agreed with and suppress all the rest with political power?” This idea is a very popular one. Most people who believe it have no idea that it has its origins in a conspiracy theory worthy of the History Channel that was popularized in a work of fiction: Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code. WHAT REALLY HAPPENED AT NICAEA? Donald Williams August 26, 2019 “Didn’t the Council of Nicaea just arbitrarily pick the books for the Bible that they agreed with and suppress all the rest...

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said Tuesday that President Trump's advisers could have a good case if they try to use what he called "full-blown insanity" as a reason to oust him from the Oval Office. Radio host Bill Press had asked Scaramucci about whether he agreed with Trump critic George Conway's assessment that Cabinet officials should consider the 25th Amendment -- the constitutional provision outlining, in part, how to transfer power to the vice president. “A thousand percent,” Scaramucci said, as The Hill reported. "I don’t understand how elected public servants of the longest-standing Republican democracy in...
