Due to the 2018 midterm elections, America no longer has a functional Congress. About the only things getting done in Congress, such as judicial confirmations, are happening in the Senate and don’t require the House. The House, now controlled by Democrats led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, might as well go home. To appreciate just how worthless the new House is, consider the budget. Federal budgets are legislation and originate in the House. For 2019, the Congressional Budget Office forecasts a deficit of $896B. That’s an increase of 15 percent from last year’s $779B deficit, despite a rise of 2.3 percent...

When it comes to improving fact-checking, most of the focus tends to be on how fact checkers select the claims they examine, the sources they turn to in determining “truth” and the strength of their arguments. While it receives less attention, the editorializing language fact checkers use can be just as harmful to the public’s trust in their work. Browse through the first five pages of FactCheck.org’s Barack Obama archive and fact checks of the former president’s statements are headlined with relatively clinical terms such as “misrepresents,” “misleading” and “cherry-picks.” In contrast, the first five pages of the site’s Donald...

“‘Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened’” (Matthew 7:7–8). The promises in these verses are limited only to believers who meet certain qualifications. First, “everyone” refers to those who belong to the Father. Those who are not God’s children can’t come to Him as their Father. Second, the one who claims this promise must be living in obedience to his Father. “Whatever we ask we receive from...

For years, this reviewer has been hearing complaints that “Hollywood never produces anti-Communist movies,†only liberal or anti-Nazi or anti-American ones. And people, it just isn’t true. Hollywood has produced dozens of anti-Communist movies and continues to do so to this day. While it could have been more, Hollywood does produce them. The purpose of this article is to provide as comprehensive a listing of all the movies that Hollywood has ever produced that can fairly be called anti-Communist, as this reviewer can come up with. And what are the criteria for a movie to make this list? In at...

Most Nazi analogies are profoundly stupid, intellectually lazy, and diminish the suffering of millions. David Harsanyi By David Harsanyi JUNE 18, 2019 “The United States is running concentration camps on our southern border. That is what they are.” — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. In April 1944, two Slovakian Jews named Alfred Weczler and Rudolf Vrba escaped from Auschwitz, and provided one of the first eyewitness accounts of the horrors of the European concentration camps. Both men had been rounded up with a group of their countrymen and sent to the Birkenau section of the camp in the spring of 1941, where they...

One of the most damaging yet least-known Supreme Court cases is J. W. Hampton, Jr., & Co. v. United States (1928). This case is much, much worse than the more well known case of Wickard v. Filburn. Wickard enables the bureaucracy to distort the commerce clause to do damage to our lives. Hampton enables the bureaucracy to exist. Without Hampton, Wickard is effectively repealed. A Twofer! Hampton also has another effect that is usually missed. There is a question as to when the Supreme Court decided it was fit to become involved in the process of creating law. This is...

Full title: Sean Hannity was laughed at when he said he was spied on. The proof just came out. He was. For years Fox News host Sean Hannity claimed that the Obama administration was spying on him. The public release Friday of a text-message exchange between him and President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort suggests he was perhaps at least partially correct. Unsealed by U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, the far-left Obama appointee with a suspiciously Democrat-friendly history, the text messages date from July 14, 2017 to June 5, 2018, and show Hannity speaking sympathetically to Manafort...

Support for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is surging in recent weeks following a major legislative victory that banned sanctuary cities across the state. The latest Quinnipiac Poll reveals that across the board, more voters in every demographic group in Florida — except with Democrat voters and black Americans — approve of the job DeSantis is doing as governor than those who disapprove.

A congressional hearing was held on a bill to study reparations for blacks as payback for slavery. Reparations is simply another worm Democrat presidential candidates will put on the hook of their fishing rods to catch black votes. I am a black man who is proud, grateful, and understands how blessed I am to be born an American. My response to the Democrats' reparations scam is, “Please stop!”. Please stop telling black Americans that we are crippled, inferior and are helpless children who can only succeed via government handouts, lowered standards and special concessions. Just stop it! The Civil War...

Editor's note: This column was co-authored by Fernando Jiménez. In 2010, during the administration of then-Puerto Rico Republican Governor Luis Fortuño and under the leadership of Republican Puerto Rico Senate President Thomas Rivera Schatz and Republican Speaker of the House (currently Puerto Rico’s sole representative in Congress) Jenniffer González Colón, the Walkway of the Presidents was inaugurated on the grounds of the Puerto Rico Capitol building in San Juan. At that time, the Walkway featured the statues of seven American presidents who had visited the U.S. Caribbean territory during their terms in office. The following year, Barack Obama also visited, and...

Police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann during a family holiday in Portugal are said to be getting closer to solving the mystery. Officers have now narrowed in on a ‘foreign man’ who was in the Algarve when she went missing aged three in 2007. British and Portuguese police are set to probe a ‘new clue and suspect’ according to local media reports. The Correio de Manha newspaper said detectives are now ‘nearer to knowing what happened to Madeleine.’ It comes after a mystery tip-off to detectives examining the 12-year-long case. RANDOLPH, N.H. In the latest and most egregious example of attempted government overreach, California legislators have proposed a bill that would dictate what pastors preach from the pulpit. Specifically, “Assembly Concurrent Resolution 99 calls on ‘counselors, pastors, religious workers, educators’ and institutions with ‘great moral influence’ to stop perpetuating the idea that something is wrong with LGBT identities or sexual behavior. ACR 99 also condemns attempts to change unwanted same-sex attraction or gender confusion as ‘unethical,’ ‘harmful,’ and leading to high rates of suicide.”Put another way, these legislators are telling pastors and spiritual leaders to throw out the Bible, disregard the Lord’s...

Everybody does.Let’s start here: Julia Roberts reveals original ending for ‘Pretty Woman’ — and you’d be shocked. In an interview in Variety magazine this week Julia Roberts revealed that the original ending of Pretty Woman as written was anything but the fairy tale ending of “prostitute-falls-in-love-with-a-rich-john-and-they-both-live-happily-ever-after.” She explained that the original script was “really dark and the ending was really heavy.” In fact the original script ended with Robert’s character, the prostitute Vivian Ward, left sprawled out in a dirty alley where Richard Gere’s character, Edward Lewis, had chucked her out of the car. For good measure, and to get the...

Were it not for my Mohammad cartoons, some Muslims believe that they would be peaceful, and they act as if my “terrorism”, (yes, they call my Mohammad cartoons “terrorism”) must be responded to in kind, with terrorism, even though they’re “peaceful”. If you want to maintain your illusions that “Islam means peace” and that “99.9% of Muslims are peace-loving”, then my book, Peaceful Death Threats, is not for you, as you’re either a Muslim or you might as well make it official and become one. If you can’t imagine threatening to murder cartoonists over cartoons, then my book is for...
