When you pay premium prices, you expect a premium product — but that’s not necessarily the case with bottled water. California nonprofit Center for Environmental Health has revealed that water bottle brands Peñafiel, owned by Keurig Dr. Pepper, and Starkey, owned by Whole Foods, contain levels of highly toxic arsenic that are above the legal limit. The United States Environmental Protection Agency says that long-term exposure to arsenic can lead to reproductive harm, circulatory, nervous system and disorders and cancer. The Centers for Disease Control also note an increased risk of diabetes and hypertension. Other symptoms of arsenic poisoning include...

Prosecutors were forced to drop criminal charges against a South Florida woman accused of stealing five Rolex watches — four of which were found inside her vagina during a jail strip search. Delajurea Brookens, 29, beat the grand-theft charge earlier this month when the victim, an Orlando businessman named Ramon Diaz, stopped cooperating with prosecutors. So what happens to the watches? Diaz only had proof of ownership of one Rolex, according to the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. The rest will remain in the property room at the Miami Springs police department until someone files a motion with the court to...

The Supreme Court on Friday ruled 5-4 to overturn a decades-old precedent on property rights, a decision that marks a victory for conservatives. The previous 1985 ruling that found that an individual whose property is taken by a local government cannot file a federal suit under the Fifth Amendment until that challenge fails in state court. But on Friday the justices ruled along ideological lines to reverse that precedent, finding that the requirement “imposes an unjustifiable burden,” conflicts with other similar rulings and “must be overruled.” “A property owner has an actionable Fifth Amendment takings claim when the government takes...

Reparations. Like every other issue for the Socialist—whoops—Democrat Party, it’s one steeped in massive pandering, misinformation, class warfare, racism, and lunacy.I’m black. And white. So would the white side of me have to pay the black side of me? Oh, and you don’t even have to be a citizen to be paid this magical money that will heal all historical wrongs and make everyone more “equal.†The #BlackLivesMatter movement wants “undocumented personsâ€, who never experienced the bondage of slavery in this country, to receive reparations, too. The struggle is real!Everyone is a victim, including rich and powerful black politicians, thought leaders...

Hunter Biden’s got some explaining to do to his new bride. President wannabe Joe Biden’s son — who recently married a South African beauty just 10 days after they first met — has been hit with a paternity suit by a woman in Arkansas. Lunden Alexis Roberts, 28, filed a petition for child support against Hunter Biden, claiming that she gave birth to “Baby Doe” last August, according to court papers filed last month. The two-page suit was filed in Independence County, Ark., on May 28, nearly two weeks after Hunter’s surprise marriage to South African native Melissa Cohen. “The...

A student accused of opening fire at a Colorado school reportedly told investigators that he targeted peers who made fun of him for his gender identity, court documents show. Alec McKinney, 16, and Devon Erickson, 18, allegedly decided to carry out the shooting after exchanging messages on social media the day before the May 7 attack at STEM School Highlands Ranch near Denver, the documents show. The shooting resulted in the death of 18-year-old Kendrick Ray Castillo; eight others were injured. The police records, which were unsealed Thursday, show McKinney telling officers in an interview that he intended to “shoot...

The House Intelligence Committee is issuing a subpoena for Felix Sater, President Trump’s onetime business associate, after he failed to show up Friday for closed-door testimony. “The Committee had scheduled a voluntary staff-level interview with Mr. Sater, but he did not show up this morning as agreed. As a result, the Committee is issuing a subpoena to compel his testimony,” committee spokesman Patrick Boland said in a statement Friday morning. The panel, led by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), had requested Sater’s testimony as part of its investigation into Russian interference and Trump’s business dealings with Russia and other foreign entities....

The House Judiciary Committee released a 273-page transcript of former White House communications director Hope Hicks’s testimony. Hicks largely defended President Donald Trump and the activities during the 2016 presidential campaign. Her lawyers refused to let her answer more than 150 questions about her work in the White House, citing immunity on the topic. The House Judiciary Committee released a transcript Thursday of former White House communications director Hope Hicks’s closed-door testimony. Hicks mostly defended President Donald Trump and members of the Trump campaign during an eight-hour interview Wednesday. She disputed the idea that the Trump campaign colluded with the...

The state of Hawaii on Thursday issued a notice to proceed for construction to start on the $1.4 billion Thirty Meter Telescope project on the Big Island after four “unauthorized structures” were removed from the areas near the telescope’s site on the summit of Mauna Kea. Construction on the long-delayed project could start as early as next month, which would be exactly 10 years after the telescope's international board selected the Hawaii site. The state’s agencies involved will work with TMT officials to determine the start date. The notice gives gives the contractors and workers involved in the construction authorization...

My country Iran is at a critical point. The regime is struggling to survive economically, politically and strategically. The circumstances are ripe for its downfall. A 40-year nightmare that has unleashed egregious rights abuses, regional chaos, religious fundamentalism and international terrorism is coming to a close. In recent days, the Tehran has been targeting oil tankers in the Persian Gulf, facilitating attacks on Saudi oil installations, and orchestrating missile assaults on American interests in Baghdad. These acts reveal that the regime’s impasse is real and it is becoming increasingly more desperate. Three key factors have contributed to the regime’s rapid...

Earlier this month an anarchist group that consists of UT Austin students called the Autonomous Student Network shared a tweet threatening to dox students who considered joining the Young Conservatives of Texas and Turning Point USA during freshman orientation. “Hey #UT23! Do you wanna be famous? If you join YCT or Turning Point USA, you just might be. Your name and more could end up on an article like one of these,” the tweet said, linking to previous doxxing posts of conservative students at the school. “So be sure to make smart choices at #UTOrientation.”

For some, you could hear the sound of war drums. It was coming. Iran had shot down a surveillance drone in international waters. President Trump did not mince words, saying Iran made a huge mistake, though was cagey about military action. He told the press “you’ll find out†when asked. President Trump has taken action before, firing cruise missiles at an airfield in Syria in 2017 after a horrible chemical weapons attack struck the town of Khan Shaykhun. The airfield was the staging ground. Reports trickled in last night that air strikes were ordered against Iran but were halted by...

On Thursday, the Supreme Court in American Legion et. al. v. American Humanist Association, decided that the Bladensburg Peace Cross, which was erected nearly 100 years ago and has stood on public land in Maryland for roughly 50 years, does not violate the Establishment Clause. This decision should be celebrated, but the reasoning that the Court used does not entirely protect religious monuments or other displays in the future. Seven of the justices decided that the Cross does not violate the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. However, this was a plurality decision, which means there was not a majority...

In a piece for the Daily Mail on Thursday, British journalist Piers Morgan explained, quite thoroughly, why he thinks Trump is going to win the 2020 election. And not just win it, but win it easily. “When Trump launched his 2020 campaign on Tuesday night in Orlando, Florida, I didn't sense I was watching a guy who's going to lose. In fact, I got the complete opposite feeling,” Morgan wrote. “Trump exuded the confident all-conquering swagger of someone who defied all polls and logic last time, and fully intends to do so again.” He's spent two-and-a-half years bombarding Americans...

It's time for Congress to step up, reclaim its constitutional authority and exercise its duty to place country over party or president or political gain, former Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel said Monday. "I think the Congress has forfeited its powers in many ways, allowing the president to be the dominant branch of government," Nebraska's former two-term Republican senator said in a telephone interview from suburban Washington. And that's even more dangerous when "this president, probably more than any we've ever had, is less informed, more arrogant, bullying people, really ignorant about our government and the consequences of his actions,"...

This is probably one of my least favorite subjects to cover, but it’s the sort of thing we need to remain aware of. Questions of self-defense, the castle doctrine and home security come up often enough, and they can impact nearly anyone in the country if your luck runs low. But a story from upstate New York is now making the rounds for an unusual reason. The Daily Signal has the story of Ronald Stolarczyk, who lives in the Utica, New York region. He found himself forced into a position where he had to use lethal force to save...

Identity politics is having an identity crisis. Parading as a noble cause to elevate only one side of the hyphenated American, identity politics has always cultivated a mean streak, a vulnerable underbelly of hatred for the "other" it indiscriminately blames for prejudice against African Americans, Native Americans and any other culture perceived to be at the mercy of the white man. No one disputes that prejudice based on race and religion is a terrible thing, but it's a simple truth that truth should not be sacrificed in looking for it. While identity politics seeks to liberate the victim of prejudice...

President Donald Trump is due to meet Chinese president Xi Jinping at the G20 summit in Osaka of 19 countries and the E.U. on June 28–29, 2019, focusing on international co-operation for economic growth. No doubt, the main conversation will be on economic issues. But a new issue must not be neglected: the remarkable large demonstrations in Hong Kong, an area of 426 square miles with a highly literate population of 7.4 million, in June 2019 against attempts at erosion of the rights of citizens and for protection against mainland China. The issue is significant for two reasons: it indicates...

President Trump said the U.S. military was "cocked and loaded" to retaliate against Iran on three different sites Thursday night, but called off the operation after learning 150 people would likely die from the strike. Mr. Trump, explaining his decision on Twitter, said the response would have been "not proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone." As CBS News has reported, the president ordered the drone strike Thursday night, but backed down, avoiding — for now — a significant escalation of tensions between Iran and the U.S. "On Monday they shot down an unmanned drone flying in International Waters," Mr....
