The House Intelligence Committee is issuing a subpoena for Felix Sater, President Trump’s onetime business associate, after he failed to show up Friday for closed-door testimony.
“The Committee had scheduled a voluntary staff-level interview with Mr. Sater, but he did not show up this morning as agreed. As a result, the Committee is issuing a subpoena to compel his testimony,” committee spokesman Patrick Boland said in a statement Friday morning.
The panel, led by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), had requested Sater’s testimony as part of its investigation into Russian interference and Trump’s business dealings with Russia and other foreign entities.
The committee is particularly interested in Sater because he worked with former Trump attorney Michael Cohen to try to broker plans to build a Trump real estate property in Moscow during the 2016 presidential campaign. The plans never came to fruition but they attracted scrutiny from special counsel Robert Mueller and congressional investigators because of their timing.
If he's willing to testify I don't know why he's being subpoenaed.
I went to his twitter account yesterday and this guys seems star stuck. It looks like he's trying to be 'a player' and building his reputation (whatever it is) based on celebrity encounters.
He appears to spend a lot of his time taking pictures with semi-famous people.
I don't know what he knows or what Democrats believe they think he knows or what he knows is relevant to anything.
That Democrats waited this long to subpoena him looks to me like this is a last ditch effort.

God forbid we should elect a businessman instead of a left-wing community organizer.
That this panel is investigating a closed case is wrong. It needs to stop.

Many business deals take YEARS to complete. trump could have been working on such a building for a very long time. Some deals come to fruition quickly-—some not.
EVERY POLL stated that Trump didn’t stand a chance-—even before the GOP Convention named him their candidate.
IS ANY PERSON expected to SUSPEND their business dealings while ‘running’ for an elected office???
I thought Trump suspended the Russia Trump Tower talks after he was named the GOP candidate. In any event——the business dealings of every member of Congress for the past 100 years haven’t been scrutinized as much as Donald Trump’s.
The envy of his success & their hared that a BUSINESSMAN was elected fair & square——DESPITE massive voter fraud-—is at the center of this constant barrage of inquiries.
When will Congress get to the business of infrastructure & other problems the country has? At this rate, they will be biggest failure of a Congress in history.
