As the U.S. Navy gets closer to issuing the final request for proposals for its future frigate competition, or FFG(X), one particularly notable design, BAE System's Type 26, has largely been absent from the discussion. It seems particularly curious given that the British-designed ship is well on its way to becoming one of the most popular warships in its class among some of America's closest allies, with 32 examples in various configurations on order for the U.K. Royal Navy, the Royal Australian Navy, and the Royal Canadian Navy. BAE did propose a variant of the Type 26 to the Navy...

Now that Creepy Joe Biden thinks he has put to rest all the cringy questions about his grabby hands, he has reverted to one of his old-time shticks: middle-class Joe. Champion of the masses. Hero of the hoi polloi. A six-term U.S. senator and two-term vice president, which equates to 44 back-slapping, log-rolling, favor-trading years in Washington, this decrepit Beltway swamp-dweller wants flyover Americans to believe that he’s really just like you and me. To which I can only reply with one hearty syllable: HA! Reality-based reporting and informed commentary since the rollout of Biden 2020 has rightly focused on...

A fungus - genetically enhanced to produce spider toxin - can rapidly kill huge numbers of the mosquitoes that spread malaria, a study suggests. Trials, which took place in Burkina Faso, showed mosquito populations collapsed by 99% within 45 days. Conducting the study, researchers at the University of Maryland in the US - and the IRSS research institute in Burkina Faso - first identified a fungus called Metarhizium pingshaense, which naturally infects the Anopheles mosquitoes that spread malaria. The next stage was to enhance the fungus. They turned to a toxin found in the venom of a species of funnel-web...

A Swedish aerospace firm that hopes to supply Canada’s new fleet of fighter jets says it could build the aircraft in this country, making maximum use of the expertise of domestic firms and creating high-tech jobs. Saab’s pitch to build its Gripen E fighter jet in Canada further ups the ante on the $19-billion competition that will see the federal government purchase 88 new aircraft. The Liberal government has been emphasizing the transfer of new technology and expertise to Canadian aerospace firms as well as the creation of high-tech jobs as among its key goals for the fighter jet program....

Robert Mueller knew there was no collusion the first time he read the Steele dossier, which reads as if it was written by a high school sophomore who spent most of his time huffing inhalants behind the gym. “Hey Dude, let’s get some more gas at the Lukoil…” At the latest, the indictment of 12 Russians on 02/16/2018 should have been the end of his “collusion” investigation. Why did Mueller keep going? To entrap the president into obstructing justice, of course. Mueller had a plan. He would use his witchhunt to anger the president enough that he would try to...

Leaders of the veterans group Rolling Thunder are poised to roar back to Washington to defend President Trump if Democrats move to impeach him. They say Trump hasn't changed their mind about ending their annual massive Memorial Day biker gathering. But some bikers will be back to demand House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., halt impeaching proceedings if she cranks them up. “I think he's doing a great job, and I wish Nancy Pelosi and her cronies would get off his back,” executive director Artie Muller said Thursday after returning to New Jersey from the group’s final planned national gathering in...

In an exclusive interview with "CBS This Morning," Attorney General William Barr said he believes special counsel Robert Mueller could have reached a decision on whether President Trump committed obstruction of justice, regardless of long-standing Justice Department policy that prohibits the indictment of a sitting president. During a nearly hour-long interview in Anchorage, Alaska, CBS News chief legal correspondent Jan Crawford pressed the attorney general on a number of issues from obstruction to his new review of the Russia investigation.Below is the full transcript of the interview: JAN CRAWFORD: Mr. Attorney General, thank you very much for sitting down...

Chalk this up as a big fat surprise, but the controversial Revoice Conference host, Greg Johnson, came out as a homosexual yesterday in Christianity Today. The LGBT conference that was endorsed by ERLC research fellow, Karen Swallow Prior, and lauded by many evangelicals, refused to let in former homosexuals who had been converted to Christ. Revoice also refused me entrance to the event as a member of the press. They wanted the conference to be a ‘safe space’ for gays to do gay stuff and celebrate the positive aspects of ‘queer culture’ inside the church. And now its host is...

Full title: Lawyers defending accused SEAL Chief Eddie Gallagher alleged prosecutors spied on them, and at least one reporter, via software attached to emails.A San Diego-based Navy SEAL charged with war crimes — including premeditated murder — was ordered released from pretrial restriction at Navy Base San Diego Thursday because the judge said prosecutors interfered with his defense counsel and caused delays in his trial. The delays are due to a Navy Criminal Investigative Service investigation into media leaks in the case. The judge said the release was a partial remedy. According to court testimony, Cmdr. Chris Czaplak, the Navy’s...

When 14 Democrats running for president descend on San Francisco this weekend to woo activists in the state that brands itself as the nation’s most liberal, they’ll be walking straight into a party in crisis as it attempts to move past a #MeToo firestorm involving its former chairman. Home state Sen. Kamala Harris, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren are among the candidates coming to court thousands of party faithful at the California Democratic Party’s annual convention, a major draw for activists who get far fewer chances to interact with presidential hopefuls than their counterparts in traditional...

I keep reading where the Chinese are flaying us in trade. Balance of trade deficits keep going up, and the Chicken Littles scream that the sky is falling. Seems to me balance-of-trade worries are misplaced. Supposedly, we got equal value for what we spent; it's just easier to quantify the dollars we put up than the goods they put up. Example: Who got more out of the deal when you bought your car? All you got was a car, but the dealer got, say, $40K. Is your balance of trade with the dealer out of whack? Not at all. He...

A Delaware woman who says she was severely beaten at a resort is telling her story in public for the first time. Tammy Lawrence-Daley says in January, she was attacked by a stranger inside the resort where she was staying in the Dominican Republic. "It's very difficult, very difficult reliving," Lawrence-Daley said. "I could hear footfalls behind me. And before I could turn around, he plowed into the back of me." Tammy Lawrence-Daley was on vacation with her husband at the Majestic Elegance Resort in the Dominican Republic when she says she went downstairs alone one night in search of...
