Just hours after the deadly school shooting in Colorado Tuesday, the coach of the NBA's Denver Nuggets called for gun control. Then Denver Post sports columnist Mark Kiszla joined in the call, declaring, "We love our guns more than we love our children" and demanding "the change" that translates to gun control. Tuesday's shooting at the STEM School Highland Ranch south of Denver that left one victim dead and eight wounded prompted these knee-jerk demands that always follow gun violence. Prior to the Nuggets' home playoff game against Portland Tuesday night, Coach Michael Malone (see photo of Malone's pre-game press...

HARRISBURG, PA—Pennsylvania's favorite pro-abortion legislator, Brian Sims, wanted to show he was tough. While most guys would join a local MMA club or luchador circuit, Sims isn't most guys. He had a much better idea. Sims wandered into a local Catholic church and challenged a group of singing nuns to a fistfight over the issue of abortion. "Hey nuns, come on down here and fight me if you want to show abortion is bad!" he called out, adding several slurs and expletives to his courageous speech. "Yeah, that's what I thought! Chicken, eh? Probably hateful Chick-fil-A chicken too, and not...

“I’m assuming that they believe they can — if you can believe this, they are going to take Cohen’s word. Cohen, who’s in jail, they are going to take his word,” Nunes told Fox News host Tucker Carlson. “I think they want to bring Don Jr. in, from what I can tell, to see if he will keep the same story or admit to whether or not he talked to his father, blah, blah, blah, about the Trump Tower meeting.” Nunes expressed his frustration that “nobody seems to be getting to the bottom of Fusion GPS’s involvement in the Trump...

It’s right there for all to see—and with pride: Henry—Made In America, or Not At All. That’s the mantra of Henry Repeating Arms, a gun manufacturer based out of Bayonne, New Jersey. Yes, I know. What’s the gun maker doing sticking around in one of the most anti-gun states in the country? It’s a question that the company’s president, Anthony Imperato, answered and it made total sense. We’ll get to that in a bit, but what kind of firearms does this company make? They’re lever action rifles and shotguns commonly seen in any Western film. Think Battle of the Little...

George Norcross III, the South Jersey Democratic power broker long at odds with the governor, has declared all-out war on Phil Murphy, calling him a “liar” and “politically incompetent.” After enduring a steady drumbeat of criticism over how his company and other entities tied to him allegedly benefitted from lucrative tax incentives meant to help revive the city of Camden, Norcross went on the attack. He lambasted a special governor’s task force deployed to investigate the New Jersey Economic Development Authority in connection with those tax incentives, as well as the governor.

Every time I think American sports teams can’t get any dumber, they get dumber. Last month the Philadelphia Flyers took down the statue of a woman who raised hundreds of millions of dollars to fight the Nazis because of a satirical song she sang in the 1930’s and now the Chicago Cubs are banning a fan for flashing the okay hand gesture during a live broadcast. Really, I swear to God, this happened. It all started on May 7th when Chicago Cubs sideline reporter Doug Glanville gave a report and a fan behind him, whose face we can’t see, flashed...

A Michigan city worker was fired over an anti-Muslim Facebook post about a Sports Illustrated model that he tried to cover up, insisting he was hacked. Bill Larion, 58, was axed Wednesday by Dearborn officials, four days after he denigrated Somali-American model and activist Halima Aden by comparing her to a camel. The part-time surveyor for the city’s engineering division made the degrading remark while off-duty, the Detroit Free Press reports.

The other leader of the state Legislature has now rejected Gov. Phil Murphy’s proposal to pour another $250 million into property tax relief for New Jersey residents next year if lawmakers agree to his plan to raise taxes on millionaires. That means Murphy and his fellow Democrats who lead the Legislature could be headed for another tense state budget battle in the coming weeks — and raises the possibility once again of a state government shutdown. State Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin, D-Middlesex, said in a statement obtained by NJ Advance Media on Wednesday night that “I do not share the...

These Senate offices include Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX), who is up for re-election in Texas in 2020; Tom Cotton (R-AR), Susan Collins (R-ME), Ben Sasse (R-NE), Roy Blunt (R-MO), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Jim Risch (R-ID). Not one of those senators would publicly stand by Burr on Wednesday evening, when asked where they stand both on the subpoena and on whether Burr should remain chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Not only has the entire Senate Intelligence Committee GOP membership basically abandoned defending Burr publicly, it appears no Republicans anywhere have his back on this. What’s more, while Burr himself...

A U.S. law first enacted in the 1990s allowing Americans to sue corporations doing business in Cuba is finally being allowed to take effect. Signed by President Bill Clinton, the Libertad Act, also known as the Helms-Burton Act, was intended to strengthen the U.S. embargo on Cuba. But a waiver was granted for a section known as Title III, which allowed U.S. courts to hold companies doing business in or with Cuba liable for damages to U.S. citizens harmed by the Castro regime. Every President since Clinton continued to waive that section of the act, but just this year, President...

In the autumn of 1915, while living in a bohemian boardinghouse on Chicago’s Near North Side, Sherwood Anderson began work on a collection of tales describing the tortured lives of the inhabitants of Winesburg, a fictional Ohio town, in the 1890s. Drawing on his own experience growing up in the agricultural hamlet of Clyde, Ohio, he breathed life into a band of neurotic castaways adrift on the flatlands of the Midwest, each of them in their own way struggling — and failing — to locate meaning, personal connection and love amid the town’s elm-shaded streets. These “grotesques,” as Anderson called...

Republicans and allies of President Donald Trump criticized lawmakers involved in issuing a subpoena to Donald Trump Jr.., the president’s son. Reports surfaced on May 8 that the Senate Intelligence Committee issued a subpoena to the younger Trump. The Republican-led committee is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election. In February, the committee concluded that there is no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. “[Donald Trump Jr.] has already spent dozens of hours testifying in front of Congressional committees. Endless investigations—by either party—won’t change the fact that there was NO collusion. It’s time to move on. It’s...

China appealed to the United States to meet it halfway to salvage a deal that could end their trade war, with its chief negotiator in Washington for two days of talks hoping to stave off U.S. tariff hikes set to be triggered on Friday. The two sides had appeared to be converging on a deal until last weekend, when U.S. President Donald Trump announced his intention to raise tariffs with his negotiators saying that China was backtracking on earlier commitments. “The U.S. side has given many labels recently, ‘backtracking’, ‘betraying’ etc...China sets great store on trustworthiness and keeps its promises,...

MSNBC host Rev. Al Sharpton raised eyebrows Wednesday when he met with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, with critics pointing out that conservatives are scolded for similar relationships. Sharpton’s “Politics Nation” is a weekend news program on the leftist network. Mediaite’s Caleb Howe spotted a photo of the meeting on Sharpton’s Twitter feed and pondered why MSNBC isn’t criticized in the same way conservative outlets are when pundits meet with GOP lawmakers. “The question raised today was whether MSNBC, through Sharpton, should be subject to the same criticism,” Howe wrote.
