On New Year's Eve, in the shadow of Cologne's cathedral, crowds of North African and Middle Eastern men accosted women out for the night's festivities. They surrounded them, groped them, robbed them. Two women were reportedly raped. Though there were similar incidents from Hamburg to Helsinki, the authorities at first played down the assaults, lest they prove inconvenient for Angela Merkel's policy of mass asylum for refugees. That delay has now cost Cologne's police chief his job. But the German government still seems more concerned about policing restless natives -- most recently through a deal with Facebook and Google to...

Donald Trump is starting the New Year on top, writes Chris Kahn, U.S. political polling editor for Thomson Reuters. Trump continues to dominate the Republican field for the presidential nomination and is now pulling even with Hillary Clinton in support among all voters. In a hypothetical head-to-head race, the real-estate tycoon and TV personality would be supported by 39 percent of likely general election voters, compared with 40 percent for Clinton, according to the latest 5-day average from Friday’s Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll. The poll asked respondents who they’d pick if the 2016 presidential election was held between Donald Trump and...

There was a visit by state legislators (state representatives) from several states to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge Saturday night where they met with the group occupying the buildings there (Citizens for Constitutional Freedom) . Oregon Republican State Representative Dallas Heard of Roseburg was joined by Washington state legislators Graham Hunt and Matt Shea, Idaho state legislators Judy Boyle, Heather Scott and Sage Dixon. Joining in by phone for the meeting was Nevada state legislator Michelle Fiore. Mr. Heard said the group was on a fact finding mission and concerned about an armed assault on the protestors, but their visit...

There is a real chance that our next president will be Donald Trump.           I am not happy about that I've found a media niche as a hardcore conservative who outlets call to get the right wing view of why he's terrible (Well, at least media outlets without Don Lemon).  Yet it's foolish not to face the potential reality we are sort of just hoping he goes away thanks to flaws that never seem to actually hurt him.  We are not taking seriously the Donald Trump we actually face, as opposed to the one we wish we were facing.  Exactly 25...

Air Products and Chemicals Inc. formally signed on Technip to engineer and build its $400 million hydrogen plant in Baytown, the companies announced Friday. Pennsylvania-based Air Products is planning for the world-scale steam methane reformer plant in Texas to produce 125 million cubic feet a day of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, much of which will ship through its Gulf Coast pipeline that runs from the Houston Ship Channel to New Orleans. Paris-based Technip touted its work with Air Products as the longest and best hydrogen alliance in the world supporting the oil and gas industry. Hydrogen is used in the...

Ted Cruz is a Naturalized Citizen, not "Natural Born" by Farmer John The question of who qualifies as a "natural born citizen" may be close in some cases, but the case of Ted Cruz is easy. Constitutionally speaking, Cruz is a naturalized citizen, not "natural born." Regarding citizenship, the Constitution grants Congress power over a uniform rule of naturalization, not over citizenship generally. Any citizen whose citizenship is derived from an act of Congress is thus a naturalized citizen, constitutionally speaking, and thus not "natural born." The basic principle is stated in United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169...

Sioux Center, Iowa -- Ted Cruz was running a few minutes late for his appearance at Dordt College, having to reply to the latest provocation from Donald Trump without angering the erratic businessman. Earlier in the day, Trump had wondered aloud whether Cruz might be ineligible for the presidency because he was born in Canada. Cruz has sedulously avoided criticizing Trump, even as he eagerly attacks other candidates. So Cruz once again offered a kind of jocular nonresponse response. He tweeted "My response to @realdonaldtrump calling into question my natural born citizenship?" with a link to the Happy Days episode...

Even Iran's ayatollahs must be amazed at what they have gotten away with since last July's Vienna deal, which purportedly eliminated their nuclear weapons program. The mullahs now act like they call the shots on the deal and throughout the Middle East. Trashing the Saudi embassy in Tehran, “spontaneous†in appearance only, is just the latest evidence, recalling a 1979 “spontaneous†demonstration that resulted in U.S. diplomats held hostage for 444 days. Barack Obama repeatedly acquiesces in Iran's egregious behavior; President-in-waiting Hillary Clinton shows no sign of breaking with him or the Iran policies she initiated as Obama's secretary of...

If you're going to engage in a foreign policy capitulation, might as well do it when everyone is getting tanked and otherwise occupied. Say, New Year's Eve. Here's the story. In October, Iran test-fires a nuclear-capable ballistic missile in brazen violation of unanimous United Nations Security Council resolutions. President Barack Obama does nothing. One month later, Iran does it again. The administration makes a few gestures at the U.N. Then nothing. Then finally, on Dec. 30, the White House announces a few sanctions. They are weak, aimed mostly at individuals and designed essentially for show. Amazingly, even that proves too...

How does Iran spell relief? K E R R Y. Secretary of State John Kerry told reporters at the State Department that the lifting of sanctions on Iran is just "days away." The $150 billion windfall for the terrorist state will happen "sooner rather than later," Kerry said. Meanwhile, there will be a vote in the House next week that would prevent the administration from lifting sanctions on Iranian banks and financial institutions unless the administration can certify that the companies are not financing terrorism or ballistic missiles. The Hill: According to reports, the White House has backed away from...

With just 21 days until the presidential primaries officially begin in Iowa, Hillary Clinton's support among Democrats nationally has taken a serious tumble, falling eight points to 43%, according to the latest IBD/TIPP Poll. Support for her chief rival, Bernie Sanders, climbed six points to 39%.

"Let love of the brethren continue" (Hebrews 13:1). Christianity's primary moral standard is love, especially for fellow believers. Love of other believers is a natural outflow of the Christian life and should be a normal part of fellowship within the church. You can no doubt remember how after you were first saved it became very natural and exciting to love other Christians and to want to be around them. However, such an attitude is extremely difficult to maintain. This love, which is a gift from God's Spirit, must be nurtured or it will not grow-it may actually shrivel. That's why...

On Friday, the President vetoed H.R.3762, which would have repealed the worst provisions of Obamacare. This was not a surprise. Nor was it, as the its apologists claim, an indication that the fight is over. As House Speaker Paul Ryan put it, The idea that Obamacare is the law of the land for good is a myth. This law will collapse under its own weight, or it will be repealed. Its just a matter of time. Only one vote, the Obama veto, saved it this time. If he is replaced by a Republican next January, the Affordable Care Act will...

"In [Christ] we have redemption" (Eph. 1:7). Slavery to sin is bondage; slavery to God is freedom. Freedom is a precious thing. People throughout history have prayed, fought, and even died for it. Our Declaration of Independence upholds it as one of our inalienable rights. But the truth is, no matter what one's political situation might be, everyone is a slave-either to sin or to God. Jesus said that "everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin" (John 8:34). Paul added that all of creation is in slavery to corruption (Rom. 8:21). However, believers have "been freed from sin...

Jeb Bush are most likely the six GOP presidential candidates that will appear on the main debate stage at the Fox Business GOP primary debate in South Carolina this Thursday, according to Politico. The U.S. added 292,000 jobs in December, the Labor Department said Friday, well ahead of expectations. With October and November payrolls revised up by 50,000, the average monthly gain in the fourth quarter was 284,000. Warm weather and a rebound from weak hiring in August and September helped boost Q4 job gains, but the underlying trend also is solid, economists said. For all of 2015, the U.S. added 2.65 million jobs, down from 2014's 3.12 million but still the second-best since 1999. Robust hiring will keep the focus on when the Federal Reserve will hike interest rates next. That may...

Exclusive: Phyllis Schlafly Makes the Case for President Trump: 'Only Hope to Defeat the Kingmakers' In an exclusive hour-long sit down interview with Breitbart News, 91-year-old conservative icon and living legend Phyllis Schlafly declared that Donald Trump "is the only hope to defeat the Kingmakers," and detailed why she believes Trump alone will return the government to the people. She warned that if immigration is not stopped: "we're not going to be America anymore." Schlafly, born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1924, has been active in politics for more than one-quarter of all American history. She helped launch the conservative...
