#copssavecivilianlives A clear and timely message to Baltimore, Maryland from Garland, Texas last night: police officers, risking their lives to do their jobs, keep civilian society safe. Proven countless times and now once again: Civilian lives are safer, thanks to thousands of police forces across America, whose intent is ‘To Serve and Protect’. “Two gunmen were killed by police Sunday night after they opened fire wounding a security officer at a Texas art competition featuring works depicting the Muslim prophet Muhammad, a practice that is strictly forbidden in Islam.” (Matthew Vadum, May 4, 2015)

Capitalism is a wonderful thing - except when it isn't. Several US businessmen - oil execs for instance - are eagerly waiting for the day when "normalizing" relations with Iran would lead to exploiting the business opportunities offered by the mullahs. The Hill: Leaders from the United States’ oil industry are traveling to Iran this week to discuss potential investment opportunities, Iran’s government said. The delegation of oil company leaders and investors are visiting Iran in anticipation of sanctions being loosened against Tehran, Iran’s state-owned Mehr News Agency reported Monday. “It is forecast that by the visit of [the] American delegation...

Last Tuesday, President Obama blamed the GOP-controlled Congress for its failure to fund the “massive investment in urban communities†that could “make a difference.†Well, how does $1.8 billion for the 622,000 people of Baltimore sound? Pretty massive, actually just about $290 for every man, woman, child, and baby of the entire City of Baltimore. But that’s the total amount of Obama Stimulus money sent to Charm City, according to an analysis by The Free Beacon:  The city of Baltimore received over $1.8 billion from President Barack Obama’s stimulus law, including $467.1 million to invest in education and $26.5...

The US Supreme Court on Monday left intact New Jersey's ban on counseling intended to change the sexual orientation of gay children. The court declined to hear a challenge to the law, meaning that a September ruling by the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upholding the ban is the final word on the matter. The appeals court said the ban, which Republican Governor Chris Christie signed into law in August 2013, did not violate the free speech or religious rights of counselors offering "gay conversion therapy" to convert homosexual minors into heterosexuals.

Midwife Mercada Dasa lived in the Old City of Jerusalem until 1948. In her attic she raised an unusual pet -- a white female snake about a meter and a half long -- and fed it sugar cubes. Just before the entry of the Jordanian Legion she left the besieged city with her family and her pet remained behind. That a midwife, whose family lived in Jerusalem since the time of the Second Temple, carried on a tradition of feeding white female snakes was part of the family's lore, but not something anyone considered significant. Now Mercada's grandson, Benny Avigdory,...

Stand with the Prophet in Honor and Respect, an event that asks “Ready to defeat Islamophobia?” is coming to the Dallas area Curtis Culwell Center on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 6pm. Until recently, few knew anything about this conference and now that many more do, residents are not just upset about the event and its speakers, they are upset that it is being held on the publicly-owned property of the Garland Independent School District (ISD) in a facility that was built and paid for with property taxpayer funded school bonds. People who are trying to do good for their families and the planet by living a simple life based on traditional skills are facing yet another assault. Artisanal soap makers say new regulations, proposed by Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California) and Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine), will put them out of business. The view of Sen. Feinstein and her corporate backers (listed below) is that the Personal Care Products Safety Act (Senate Bill S.1014) will make the world a safer place by scrutinizing “everything from shampoo and hair dye to deodorant and lotion.” She says the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act...

Amongst all the chaos in Seattle during Friday’s May Day riot, a man was seen walking through the crowd wearing a tactical vest with an SKS rifle slung over his shoulder. Identified as Shayne Butts, he tells reporters “I’m here to ensure peoples’ civil rights get respected, just the basics, First Amendment right to peacefully assemble, to free speech… I don’t like communism, but these people have a right to free speech.” He says the chamber was empty, but there were rounds in the magazines.

Several times I’ve written for The American Spectator on the person of David Axelrod, the figure most responsible for giving America two terms of Barack Obama. My first piece was a cover feature for the March 2012 print edition, titled, “David Axelrod, Lefty Lumberjack.” This lengthy profile was followed by an August 2012 piece titled, “All in the (Political) Family.” Then followed still more writings on Axelrod and friends, particularly the new material I reported in my book on Obama’s communist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis. David Axelrod These writings got a lot of attention. I discussed the topic a number...

When academic studies back up Obama Administration policies, you will never hear the end of them. When they don’t, you will never hear the beginning of them. Take, for example, the recent study by Johns Hopkins University examining the science behind new EPA regulations. “A new study authored by a research team led by Dr. Corrine Keet of John’s Hopkins Children’s Center has found no link between outdoor air pollution and childhood asthma,” Alyssa Carducci writes in Environment & Climate News. “Dr. Keet’s team followed 23,000 U.S. children and found no statistically significant difference in asthma rates between those who...

What happens when a non-profit that was started to help veterans becomes the neighborhood bully? For a charity supposedly devoted to helping veterans, the Wounded Warrior Project spends an enormous amount of time suing or threatening to sue small non-profits—spending resources on litigation that could otherwise be spent on the vets they profess to serve. At issue is the Wounded Warrior Project’s brand: the charity has become particularly litigious over the use of the phrase ‘wounded warrior’ or logos that involve silhouetted soldiers. At least seven such charities have discussed their legal problems with The Daily Beast. The Wounded Warrior...
