MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A number of police cars responded to Minneapolis South High School Thursday after an alleged food fight escalated into a melee involving 200 to 300 students. The school posted a note on its website stating the high school was placed on a precautionary code yellow lockdown due to “a food fight that escalated into a physical fight.”Sgt. William Palmer, of the Minneapolis Police Department, said no weapons were involved in the incidents. However, four people were taken to the hospital following the melee. Senate Republicans blocked a vote on Chuck Hagel’s nomination as secretary of defense on Thursday, launching an unprecedented filibuster and a severe rebuke to the White House. Falling one vote shy of the 60 needed to move forward on the nomination, the Hagel filibuster brought stark condemnations from President Obama and Senate Democrats for its precedent-setting nature -- the first time a defense secretary nominee had been filibustered. The setback came during what many believe is a critical period for the Pentagon as it winds down troops from Afghanistan and implements costly budget cuts. It was also a hard slap...

Today is Valentine’s Day. For the happily married among us, it’s probably not that big a deal. Because when you have someone you love, who you’re doing life with, every day is Valentine’s Day. Things are different for singles looking for love: Those who’ve never experienced holy matrimony. Those who once were married but – for one reason or another – sadly parted ways with their spouse. Those who have lost a beloved husband or wife to illness or other tragedy. As I reflect upon Valentine’s Day, I am reminded of a sermon I heard a couple years ago while...

    1. The Post Office Get ready to imagine a world without the Post Office. They are so deeply in financial trouble that there is probably no way to sustain it long term. Email, Fed Ex, and UPS have just about wiped out the minimum revenue needed to keep the Post Office alive. Most of your mail every day is junk mail and bills. 2. The Check Britain is already laying the groundwork to do away with check by 2018. It costs the financial system billions of dollars a year to process checks. Missouri Democrat state Rep. Rory Ellinger has put forth H.B. 545, which would ban "assault weapons" and many semi-automatic pistols. It would give owners of said weapons 90 days to either turn them in or get them out of the state. After 90 days, those in possession of such weapons would face class "C" felony charges. The legislation defines an "assault weapon" as a rifle with a detachable magazine and any "one or more of the following: a pistol grip or thumbhole stock... protruding grip that can be held by nontrigger hand, a folding or telescoping stock, [or] a shroud...

p>BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: I'll give you another example of how Obama is never governing -- never governing, always campaigning, always fighting those powerful forces. His policies don't have any relationship whatsoever to the problem is. He's just trying to fix everything. Nothing that he's doing has any relationship to what's happening. That's how the low-information voters see it. I'm telling you, folks, after the State of the Union, Sean Hannity put together a Frank Luntz focus group in Santa Monica, California. He found a bunch of Romney voters who are essentially saying exactly to you what I'm saying today. They...

A staple complaint of the climate sceptic, that it’s impossible to determine the impact of historical volcanic eruptions on the climate, is a step closer to being spiked, courtesy of work at the University of Copenhagen. The university’s Matthew Johnson, an associate professor in the Department of Chemistry, has published work conducted with the Tokyo Institute of Technology in which he uses the isotopes captured in old sulphur to determine the scale of eruptions. As explained in the university’s announcement, the work is designed to resolve the often-conflicting dates attached to recorded eruptions. Dating is difficult from ancient records, since...

For at least the next month, we will be bombarded with a myriad of theories, speculations, and predictions about who will be elected the next pope. One name you will hear a LOT about in the coming weeks is Cardinal Tarcisio Pietro Evasio Bertone, S.D.B., who currently holds two important and powerful positions in the Vatican, Secretary of State and Camerlengo.Already, the speculators and conspiracy-theorists are theorizing that Cardinal Bertone will be the next pope because, at least according to the dubious “prophecy of Saint Malachi,” the next pope after Pope Benedict XVI will be known as “Peter the Roman,”...
  • Political Cartoon Mocks Murdered Navy SEAL To Make Point On Gun Control

Political cartoonist Lee Judge took an abhorrent cheap shot at Second Amendment supporters recently, by using the murder of Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle as a means to belittle their argument. Kyle is the decorated American sniper that was tragically murdered earlier in the month by an Iraq war veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Kyle’s friend, Chad Littlefield was also murdered that day. As is typical of gun control fanatics, Judge completely ignores the mental health issue involved in the killing, and instead mocks Kyle’s inability to stop the shooting. OTTAWA -- Defence Minister Peter MacKay says a heavy-lift Canadian air force transport plane will continue to assist French forces in Mali for another month. The commitment involving the C-17 Globemaster, which has been shuttling war material, vehicles and troops between France and the Malian capital of Bamako, was set to expire Friday. MacKay confirmed the extension outside of the House of Commons on Thursday following question period. The request for the additional flights came through military channels a few days ago, but MacKay says the Conservative government wanted to consider how it would impact Canadian operations before giving it...

Basically, the original CD for this printer was lost. Webpages say to use some software that you have to load SCOM/SCE to use. We can get to this printer on the network (IP Address) and we have successfully set this up to one computer on the network. The story on the CDROM was that someone else used this printer at this University and probably discarded the CDROM. I have had no success with Dell Support sites. And the printer is old enough to be out of warranty. There is the following: Dell Printer Management Pack for (versions 4.1 and 5.0)...
