In the wake of the Supreme Court ruling on the Affordable Care Act, I have noticed a curious phenomenon in which some conservative commentators seem to be so desperate to find a silver lining to the ruling that they have abandoned all logic. Consider George Will, who wrote a column in the aftermath of the ruling that actually puts forward the argument that we conservatives should take the fact that Roberts didn’t rely upon the commerce clause as evidence that there might be some constitutional limitation on the federal government after all. That would be a wonderful aspect of this...

Sarah Palin slaps around Bob Beckel. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin appeared on Fox News Channel’s The Five on Friday where she gave a wide ranging interview about the Supreme Court decision on health care on Thursday as well as her objections to health care reform legislation. Towards the end of the interview, Palin challenged ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos to call out President Barack Obama for lying to him in an interview where he famously claimed that the individual mandate in health care reform was not a tax.

NEW YORK — It’s been four days since Charlie Rangel’s primary. And it’s still not entirely clear who won.The veteran Democratic congressman might be the winner in New York’s 13th District, but no one really knows. It’s a bizarre situation that just keeps getting weirder, a strange case of missing precincts, questionable ballots and utter confusion over who’s to blame for the mess and when the race might be settled.(PHOTOS: Charlie Rangel's career)What’s known is this: As of Friday evening, 32 precincts – six percent of all votes cast – had yet to be accounted for. And another 2,447 affidavit ballots and...

You need closure. Following individual meetings this week with school and district administrators, each family waived their right to a hearing and agreed to one-year suspensions from school and regular bus transportation. The Greece Central School District is legally required to provide all students ages 5 to 16 with an education, therefore, during the 2012-13 school year, the students who have been suspended will be transferred to the district Reengagement Center, located in a non-school facility. This alternative education program keeps middle school students on track academically while providing a structured opportunity for students to take responsibility for their actions...

BAMAKO, Mali (AP) -- Islamist fighters with ties to al-Qaida have destroyed tombs classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site in Mali's historic city of Timbuktu, a resident and U.N. officials said Saturday. Irina Bokova, who heads the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, cited in a statement Saturday reports the centuries-old Muslim mausoleums of Sidi Mahmoud, Sidi, Moctar and Alpha Moya have been destroyed.

SANFORD, Fla., June 29 (UPI) -- After a 3-hour hearing Friday, a Florida judge postponed a decision on renewing bail for George Zimmerman, accused of killing an unarmed black teenager. Zimmerman's attorneys argued for release on $150,000 bail, the Orlando Sentinel reported. That was the figure set before Judge Kenneth Lester revoked it after prosecutors argued Zimmerman and his wife had lied about money raised through an online appeal. During the hearing, the defense acknowledged Zimmerman's wife lied about the money but argued Zimmerman, 28, is a good candidate for release. They also presented testimony to show Zimmerman, who is...

Many conservatives and Christians see the encroachments of socialism and secularism. If they want to know what is driving this process forward, and the answer is surprising. It has been the work of the Communist International led by Moscow -- decade after decade.

(Reuters) - Egypt's new President Mohamed Mursi said on Saturday the military that took charge when Hosni Mubarak was overthrown last year had kept its promise to hand over power, speaking at a ceremony to mark the formal transfer of authority. Mursi's comments followed a speech by Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, who heads the military council. In his remarks, Tantawi also said the army had kept its pledge to oversee the nation until a president was elected. The army council, before Mursi was sworn following his victory in an election this month, curbed presidential powers and took other steps to...

There was nothing positive in this for our side, regardless of some of the articles trying to spin it that way. Thanks John Roberts. We wouldn't want you to tarnish your "legacy" with the liberal media. Thank GW Bush for nominating Roberts. Why do the liberal appointees never disappoint their side? Why aren't all of our nominees reliable, like the liberals?

I recall a time when Democrats regularly lionized whistleblowers … during the Bush administration, of course. The media hailed them as heroes; Time Magazine even made them the collective Person of the Year for 2002. Democrats loved them so much that they ran one of the whistleblowers on that cover in my Congressional district in 2006 against Rep. John Kline, a former Marine colonel that Colleen Rowley’s campaign photoshopped into a Nazi uniform for their campaign website. Needless to say, Rowley has disappeared back into well-deserved obscurity, while Kline still represents my district. These days, in the Obama era, Democrats...

Imagine you're sitting at home, comfortable on the couch, watching the Food Network, when all of a sudden a heavily armed SWAT team breaks down your door and storms into your living room.

That's what happened to 18-year-old Stephanie Milan, who was watching TV in her family's Evansville, Ind., home last Thursday (June 22), when a team of police officers broke down her storm door — the front door was already open — and tossed a flash-bang stun grenade into the room.

It is time, the Chief Justice said, for the will of the people to be expressed through the political departments. You should not try to make the Supreme Court the final arbitrator of such political matters. It has not the wisdom for that. This election will now be held largely on the issue of Obama Care. If the President wins this will be seen as a vindication of that act and of the philosophy behind it. If the President fails of election the Act will be repealed, and there is an opportunity for the United States to turn back and...

...And boy, do I feel the fool! After all these many years of refracting, reflecting and deflecting Lady M in every conceivable light, it just now occurred to me: the purpose of the boob belt! Like so many things, with hindsight it’s completely obvious – lift and separate! In order to showcase your assets, I guess. It’s sort of like a metaphor for Big Guy’s historical presidency too; lift the restraints imposed by the Constitution and separate – by “class,” race, sexual preference, and intellect. Score-O! Although I don’t know how that showcases our assets any more than Lady M’s...

When people say Thursday's Supreme Court ruling was a big win for President Obama, the Romney Campaign must shake their heads just a little bit. Since the ruling, Team Romney has raked in $5.5 million. That money isn't coming from big time donors at fundraisers, but is made up of 55,000 separate donations, with 65 percent of those people donating for the first time. These numbers come after Romney outraised President Obama in May, spent less and Obama seems to be draining his war chest quickly. Just one month after the start of the general election campaign, Mr. Obama has...

With convicted serial child sex abuser Jerry Sandusky behind bars, new questions are surfacing about what Penn State officials knew about a 2001 incident involving the former assistant football coach's encounter with a boy in the shower -- and whether they covered up the incident. After the 2001 incident, Sandusky sexually abused other boys over the course of years until his arrest. CNN does not have the purported e-mails. However, the alleged contents were made available to CNN. The messages indicate former Penn State President Graham Spanier and two other former university officials knew they had a problem with Sandusky...
