"And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments"... Luke 16:23
There are many people today who do not believe in what I am about to share or even if they believe they have a watered down understanding..
So let me say this real quick, the doctrine of Hell remain the same just as Jesus preached it. See.
"And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out,
and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for
thee that one of thy members should perish, and
not that thy whole body should be cast into hell". Matthew 5:29
Some have come to believe in the modern day doctrine of Annihilation which is similar to the Jehovah Witnesses views while others have discredited the doctrine of hell by saying, "The 4 Gospels are outdated for the new covenant people"
But when this same people read the book of Revelation then the reality dawns on them more, since its new covenant words, See.
"Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake
of fire. This is the second death".
Revelations 20:14
Stop deceiving yourself with all this excuses of men, my dear, if you go to hell you will cry, you will be tormented, Satan will roast your soul, he will use you to boil hot water, you and satan will burn together forever and ever and ever non stop, he continue that sin that brought you there, and you will wish you were not born because you reject the blood and life of Christ righteousness.
The torment of hell is in such away that you won't wish your enemy to go their, your beauty, money, power and fame on earth is useless there because Satan won't look at your face, after all the beautiful message and sermons of Holiness you have listened to, if you go to hell you will cry and be tormented all your life, Fear God!
Hell is simply the full payment of your denial of The Cross of Christ. God hasn't predestined anyone there but the choices you make today is what would bring you there.
This was the same place the rich man went to, he didn't go to hell because he was rich, instead he went there because he denied God in his practice and life of wickedness, no wonder it says of him,
"And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes" Luke 16:23
I beg you today, repent (turn) from your sins and come to Jesus, he's waiting to wash, cleanse and forgive you...
“How are we to imagine enjoying heaven when we know that fellow human beings — and perhaps former loved ones — are locked in an endless nightmare from which they shall never awake?”
...By surrendering to, then achieving understanding of, the infinite justice of God in the beatific vision. God’s justice is perfect, but what you speak of is human - not perfect.
The Bible tells us that hell is eternal. It doesn't mean the punishment is eternal, what would be the use of that from a merciful and just God? It means the decision is eternal. My grandfather, a wonderful guy, believed that everyone will go to heaven . . . eventually. Even Satan! This is called the "reconciliation doctrine". Of course, it's nonsense and anti-Biblical.
Hell won't be a physical burning - (we won't have bodies after all). It will be mental and just as terrifying. People will remember all of the terrible things they have done to others and there will be no forgiveness for it. It all belongs to the sinner.
Revelation 20:9 indicates there will be a finality to the sinners and their punishment. And over time they will be forgotten.
I’ll keep you in my prayers that your eyes will be are open, because if you never get it, you are really going to get it.
“...then punish us for a wrong guess”
That’s not how it works.
A false premise leads to false conclusions.
“Everything that may be known about God is plain to you, because God had made it plain, so therefore every man is without excuse.”
Accept Him, or reject Him.
Your choice.
Prayers for your eyes to open
I hear all the time the Jesus never mentioned hell. They should read the Bible.
What are the red-letter Jesus Hell references?
“Accept Him, or reject Him.
Your choice.”
Heaven is of God’s design, not ours. You can chose to live with God for eternity, or without. Many people would not be happy living with God. Hell is a place without God.
And we can choose to live with Him even now while wrapped in flesh. The temporal heaven, in relationship with Him even now.
In light of your comment...
“THE GREAT DIVORCE”, by CS Lewis
Given the chance to go to heaven, would those in hell, choose heaven?
A good story and insight to the heart set against God. Some souls simply won’t humble themselves. Pride, the one unforgivable sin. Because it is unable to humble itself.
Spoiler...no, they would choose to go back to hell.
“My purpose is NOT to make you believe anything... “
That wouldn’t be a problem even if you were. I always like a good debate - and that involves people trying to convince each other..
If I have a bone to pick with devout religious believers, it’s that they refuse to admit that their belief is just that - a belief - an opinion.
There is a common social practice in the secular world that leads to friendly discourse: People preface their beliefs with the phrase “In my opinion” or even “In my HUMBLE opinion”. Why is that so hard for Christians to say that - isn’t humility a Christian virtue?
I just got three comments in a row like that - nobody can just state their opinion as an opinion. They have to talk arrogantly as though they have the market cornered on truth, and anyone who doesn’t agree is a lost soul.
When I get up in the morning I hear Satan say “Oh crap, she’s up”
Why?
That is not what the Bible teaches.
...............................................
How do you know what the Bible teaches?
Interesting idea about opinions, but you still seem to be missing the whole concept of inspiration. If you can do it, (I suspect that you can actually) then putting yourself in our shoes you might see why that would be incongruous. Your position assumes the absolute inerrancy of your presuppositions, which is in my humble opinion the very same sort of thing that we are doing. (Not saying this very well I think. Am I making sense?)
Yeah I think I know which one you are talking about - I’ve linked to it many times here on FR.
Have you read the one about the gang-member kid dying of cancer and telling his mom what he really thought about Jesus and about a second later he gargles his last breath freaking out in a panic as he dies?
‘That’s because Catholics have that “safety net “ called purgatory.’
They never teach about that either. Ever. Most Catholics couldn’t argue for or against it.
Here is the main point: By priests’ silence on hell, they all appear to be Universalists now.
How are we to imagine enjoying heaven when we know that fellow human beings — and perhaps former loved ones — are locked in an endless nightmare from which they shall never awake? How are we to imagine God, who is perfect love, enjoying heaven while he yet keeps the damned in existence for the sole purpose of having them experience hopeless pain?

Your first question is what should drive every Christian to never cease praying for Salvation to be accepted by the Lost. Until the LORD God puts in a person’s heart to ‘stop,’ Christians should CONSTANTLY be praying for the ability to lead the Lost to Christ, to pray that the Lost are in a place where they are willing to admit that they cannot simply ‘opt’ to be good and go to Heaven.
We, Christians, are reminded that one day we will see the Lost through the eyes of our LORD and will fully understand and accept their damnation: We are not taught it will be an easy ride, being a Christian.
Once it’s all over, those of the LORD’s Children will have no memory of those who are in Hell. It’s such a hard concept for us in this day and age to wrap our heads around, isn’t it? That’s why, it’s so, so, important to always carry the message of Christ to folks.
Your second question is actually not that hard, though it does sound harsh; there being a difference.
Such as a parent who grieves when a child or grown offspring suffers during a disciplinary action, the LORD God is there to see it happen, as well, with the Lost.
HOWEVER, once the final act is done, the Lost are where they are because they made the eternal decision to reject the gift of Salvation, or as the earlier Jews, they did not follow the LORD’s commandments prior to the first earthly presence of Christ. Those I speak of are the Jews who would not follow the LORD’s commandments.
As a Christian, I often wonder about those that we ‘feel’ have never heard the word of the Salvation Gift. Yet, I also know in my inner heart that my LORD God’s Son came down to earth so than ‘no man,’ would fail to have the Salvation Gift made clear. So somehow, someway, my LORD God would know a man’s true heart and soul.
My responsibility as a Christian is to be a witness, a Christ-like witness. Unfortunately, I do fail, and fail way too often. Mercifully, my LORD does let me know when that happens.... He’s also the one who allows me to get back off the ground and start the walk, again.
Sorry for the long answer.... I am even truly more sorry if I failed to make any sense....
Secularism is a 'religion'... ever try and convert a secularist?
If I have a bone to pick with devout religious believers, it’s that they refuse to admit that their belief is just that - a belief - an opinion.
This 'religious' word is far too broad ... whatever a human places as the most important object of their time and effort / love is their 'god'. I just witness the most fervent acts of worship to secularism this past year..
There is a common social practice in the secular world that leads to friendly discourse: People preface their beliefs with the phrase “In my opinion” or even “In my HUMBLE opinion”. Why is that so hard for Christians to say that - isn’t humility a Christian virtue?
Obviously, you must live in a gated community... The 'social' practices this past year of the secular world were barbarism ... on a mass scale. Give the devil his due. One must by necessity be a student in Christ to even have a low level conversation.
I just got three comments in a row like that - nobody can just state their opinion as an opinion. They have to talk arrogantly as though they have the market cornered on truth, and anyone who doesn’t agree is a lost soul.
IF I quote Scripture, it is impossible to claim it as my own opinion. I would not call you a 'lost soul', I would call you a disinterested soul..
As a southerner Baptist denying God or Christ is the one sin not to visit
Hell sounds unpleasant
