Yeah, and get this - he said he was a "New England Democrat". Aaaackkk, that's practically the worst kind! He said that before he defended Rush and his comments on ESPN. Oh well...

To: technomage
Yes, but very predictable that it would. WHERE was your prediction?
YOU can sit here now with 20/20 hindsight, but, it doesn't count.
The 'LEFT' finally found an issue they could blow up and make hay with - with the stupid media's support of course ...

>>>Even though you may think this is for the best, it is still a big, fat shiner in the eye of the Right. That maybe true, but only in the eyes of the liberal establishment and the uninformed. It was better for Rush to move on, then hang out and be fired or take it into the public arena. That's what Howard Dean called for today. he said Rush should be fired. Screw the left!

Let the A**ho** quaterbacks sponsors know. That chunky soup company probably does not want to be draged into this. Hit them in the wallet. We did it to the Dixiechix, now we blitz the quarterback. What sponsors do we write/call/e-mail?
I was going to write an e-mail of support to ESPN, but their site was so confusing, I couldn't find a decent e-mail address.

Why do you give moral support to the Left for holding Rush to a double-standard. His big mouth did not cost him a dream -- his conservative beliefs did.No, actually his big mouth got him in serious trouble. And again, he is intelligent enough and smart enough to know that one of the biggest names in conservatism saying something like a black quarterback is not as good as the media makes him out to be because they want to see a black quarterback succeed.........come on. Wake up. You think the liberal press would let that go by?
To: cyborg
Rush did this to himself. sorry, but its true.

Nothing personal towards Rush, but I'm with the "he screwed up" crowd. There was NO reason to bring up the media issue and McNabb's color. It's a FOOTBALL show, he could have talked all day long about poor performance and left it at that. Rush miscalculated the response, he forgot he wasn't addressing his informed radio audience. He obviously pissed off some co-workers at ESPN. I really don't care to think about media bias when I'm watching sports - it's my one escape. Rush should have known better.
That said, he still has my full support for his groundbreaking radio show and I will forever be grateful for the trail he has blazed. He just screwed up and it cost him his hobby job.

It is obvious to me the Left, sensing that they are REALLY LOSING,Amen.
They found a small crevice then started Clinton-class SPINNING ...

you wrote: Yeah. It's just hard to imagine Rush leaving without a fight
True. So, if Rush wouldn't go down without a fight, I can see a couple possiblities:
1) he has something up his sleeve to come back with. In other words, quitting ESPN only looks like a defeat at this moment.
2) there is some truth to the story about the drugs and he has to focus on that. So get rid of all the outlying BS, and concentrate on the central issue.

Rush was overextended anyway.
Now he can get back to what he does best...encouraging Republicans to get out and campaign and vote for the good guys. Radio is his forte...that's what he should stick with.
He sure as hell doesn't need ESPN's or ABC's money.
I'm kinda glad he said "Take this job and shove it!"

Berman is quoted in an article today that he's a "New England Democrat".
I wouldn't be surprised if was behind this. I don't think he cared for Rush being hired in the first place.
The more I watch the clip from last Sunday's ESPN show, it's becoming more and more clear that the topic was how good McNabb really was and if he was declining.
Rush was stupid enough to think he was hired for his opinions and his talk show host persona took over and he threw in "the media is desireous to see a black QB do well" while saying McNabb was never really that good.
If he had made that a topic for his mini-monologue with backup like he did the black coaches topic in week one, then I don't think it would have been blown out of proportion.
But since the entire conversation about McNabb centered on his ability, his comments about the media do look out of context and don't add to his point.

It isn't the fact that you people critcize us that gets us so worked up, resonable people can debate and disagree on things and still be friendly with one another. What brings on this animus you see here is the way in which these "character assassinations" (an over used term to be sure) are continuously carried out. Anytime there is a popular personality who fights against a well-established liberal ideal, it seems the scandal-mongers immediately begin to harass the unfortunate soul until they acquiesce or go silent.
People as varied as Rush Limbaugh, Tiger Woods, Jim Robinson, Mel Gibson, and even a writer and friend of mine here at UT have experience this on a daily basis. For example, my columnist friend is a conservative writer who also happens to be a Sikh, and is having his reputation drug through the mud on account of some scathing but honest articles recently published in the Daily Beacon. His mail box is filled with hate mail full of insults to his culture and beliefs. A really good one is here on our College Republican website that was sent by one of his left-leaning liberal counterparts:
http://web.utk.edu/~crutk/archives/00000030.html This sheer hatered that much (but not all) of the left, the so-called "enlightend" of our civilization, espouse toward their opponents is a condemnation of that claim of truth.
I don't hate you. I don't hate those who agree with you. You might even be fun to have a beer with, despite the fact that I disagree with you. But this hatered is dangerous for anyone, no matter how "just" they believe it to be.
It will freeze your heart and eat your soul and make you everything you have come to hate. This is what will ultimately destroy the Republic.
Sincerely,
CXIII

If this had been Spike Lee squawking about some white player, nothing would have been said. <<
Hell, if it had been Robert Byrd (DEMOCRAT-KKK), Fritz Hollings (D-Jim Crow South), Cruz Bustamente (DEMOCRAT-Aztlan) making the SAME comments as Limbaugh about a black player, nothing would have been said.
Democrats are allowed to make racist statements about anyone, anywhere, anytime.
