There is no word play in what I am doing here. This was the understanding most reasonable people had on Sunday, including his co-horts on the show which is why no one batted an eye at the time it was said.

Two days later someone realized if they could convince people what he said was "McNabb is overated because he is black" they would get traction and force him into resignation. And suddenly the transformation took place and the chorus erupted.

By perpetuating amongst ourselves that same misquote you participating in the borking here.

However I did not put words in your mouth. Funny that you are offended by that notion since you have post after post done the same thing to Rush.

I clearly ASKED you to ADMIT what I thought YOUR many posts point to as being true. Why don't you give Rush the same courtesy.

I can come up with equal mountains of evidence that his observations were stupid as well. Equal amounts that they were astute. Opinions easily generate such discussion.

But I find no reason to even imply they were racist.

Just because you did not hear about it, doesn't mean it did not exist. I brought this place up before, and got reemed, but I will do it again since you brought it up. The Eagles team message board errupted with dozens of posts about Rush within minutes of his statements. Of course the subject is near and dear to the hearts of Philly fans because of the McNabb connection. But it is also near and dear to Philly fans because they know the crap Randall Cunningham had to put up with simply because he was a black QB.

I think this is the most we have agreed on in the last two days. I would like to simply part agreeing to disagree. I appreciate the points that you have made, and it has forced me to rethink my poistion from may angles. I wish Rush had simply left it with his opinion of McNabb, and the Eagles defense. And had not injected his agenda(like it or not, that is what he did) into the topic.

Re: "Hope he buys a team" Now there's a magnificant idea!! Could you imagine an NFL team owned by Rush Limbaugh? Every conservative in the country would be rooting for him. Just think of all the possible ramifications; think how many jerseys they would sell. Every right wing conservative in the country would be wearing something to show their support for his team. It would be a fan base that would cross all state lines and be National. Just think of a Superbowl game with Rush's team against anyone else's. Oh!!!! What GLORY!!!

His studio mates didn't bat an eye? Tom Jackson looked like he'd stepped on a wet cow pie. If I had been in that studio I probably wouldn't have said anything either, because almost anything said would elicit a response from Rush that would just make it worse.

You honestly don't think it would be insulting to be told, say, at work that you are overrated in your reviews because your reviewer likes people of your race and you're not as good as they say?

Affirmative action is a live wire in American politics right now, as Rush well knows. His comment brought that issue through the back door into the ESPN show. What possessed him to throw a race issue into a hard core sports show in the first place?

I just listened to both clips. The one about the NFL's rule to interview black coaches or get fined and the one about McNabb. My question is: ARE THESE PEOPLE ON CRACK. His point that he was discussing with 2 black men and 1 white man was that McNabb was over-rated and the rest of the team deserved credit. Did I miss something?

You're right. Jesse Jackson is asking for Clear Channel to fire Rush. I guess it's time to quit being sad and start getting mad. I was surprised to see the results of an AOL poll tonight. Very pro-Rush. I think people are starting to get angry at the double standard and hypocrisy going on.
