you wrote: Yeah. It's just hard to imagine Rush leaving without a fight

True. So, if Rush wouldn't go down without a fight, I can see a couple possiblities:

1) he has something up his sleeve to come back with. In other words, quitting ESPN only looks like a defeat at this moment.

2) there is some truth to the story about the drugs and he has to focus on that. So get rid of all the outlying BS, and concentrate on the central issue.

But won't the story about the drugs come out tomorrow anyway?I don't see his resigning stopping that. Liberals may have gotten him off ESPN but they'd rather get him off the radio.

Most likely, Rush was told to resign or be fired....

"...story about drugs and he has to focus on that. So get rid of the outlying BS, and concentrate on the central issue."

I completely agree with this statement. Sometimes in life we have to pick our battles, and Rush's resignation from the ESPN gig was the right thing to do for he and Marta.

The ESPN job and controversy PALE IN COMPARISON with the allegations made by this maid and being published in the National Enquirer this week. I don't know if there is any truth to the story, ( I pray there isn't), but the focus needs to be first and foremost in dealing with this drug allegation situation.

There is too much on the line for Rush...reputation, career, livelihood. Rush must also know that this also effects his millions of loyal viewers who listen to him every day.

Even if none of what she says is true, Rush will have the battle of his life to overcome the stigma of what already has been published and discussed. These allegations are very serious business. This side ESPN gig regardless of the controversy is not worth taking his eye off the ball.

The truth most always comes out at the end, we have to just wait and see what it is. I pray that he and Marta have the strength and wisdom to handle what's up ahead. They most certainly have my support.
