Why would anyone be a Democrat?
Joe Andrew

Posted on 05/28/2003 10:59:50 AM PDT by DDay today

How do you know if you're a Democrat? If you've ever met someone down on his or her luck, and you wanted to help, then you're a Democrat. If you have ever seen the look in a child's eyes of fear, of hunger, or of aspiration, and wanted to help, then you're a Democrat. If you have ever wanted leadership that had common sense, that cared about the future, and that wanted progress over partisanship, then you're a Democrat. If you believe that we are better off working together than apart, then you're a Democrat. If you believe in community, opportunity, and responsibility, then you are a Democrat.

I am a Democrat because Democrats fight for, and not just talk about, the American dream. We work to ensure that children do not have to experience fear, neglect, nor hunger, but instead grow up with the hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow. We understand that in working together we are greater than the sum of our parts. Democrats strive to be courageous leaders devoted to progress, rather than be roadblocks in the name of partisan battles. We are the party of diversity and inclusion, of innovation and inspiration, and of energy and optimism.

I am a Democrat because we welcome those who are downtrodden, neglected, and cast aside just the same as we welcome those who have the promise of a brighter future set in their dreams. I am a Democrat because we welcome you whether you're black or white or brown or red or a nice shade of purple. We welcome you whether you pray at a church or a mosque or a temple or a synagogue or at your kitchen table. We welcome you whether you're young or old or just don't want to tell your age. We welcome you regardless of what gender you are or what gender you want to hold hands with. I am a Democrat because we don't care where you are today, but where you dream you want to be tomorrow. This is the spirit of our Party and it's why I am proud to be a Democrat.

How do you know if you're a Democrat? If you've ever met someone down on his or her luck, and you wanted to help, so you put a gun to some other person's head and took their money in order to give it to the first person, then you're a Democrat.

A democrat and a Republican were walking down the street together. They came across a homeless person. The Republican, taking pity, pulled out his wallet, gave him $20.00 and a business card. He told him to come to his office the next day for a job.

The democrat was impressed.

As they continued walking they came upon another homeless person. The democrat wanting to be equally impressive, took $20.00 from the Republican's wallet, kept $15.00 for administrative fees, gave the homeless man $5.00, and gave him detailed instructions on how to get to the welfare office.

Now you know the difference between Republicans and democrats.

How do you know if you're a Dimocrat? If you sit around writing garbage instead of going to work, then you're a Dimocrat.

I am a Democrat because we welcome you whether you're black or white or brown or red or a nice shade of purple.

Except in your neighborhoods, workplaces, political office....Sheesh.

I would've just told the urban outdoorsman to get a job and kept walking, what party does that make me?

Oh man, the smoking Zots and that kitty photo brings back to me the conversation I had with a friend at lunch today. Long story short, a missing kitty was found under the hood of my friend's car.

I am a Democrat because we don't care where you are today, but where you dream you want to be tomorrow.

And, thus forewarned, I can ensure you never get there by taking your dreams for myself.

Shalom.

Where they can be the object of every pervert's sexual fantasy, and possibly even experience that fantasy as part of the pervert's civil rights.

Shalom.

It happens. Don't sweat it.

With posts like that one, generally we take the thread down totally, or maybe zot it. If you see such a case but felt the article was worth discussing, feel free to post it. I think then you will find that it isn't the article that was the issue.

Regards, AM

Democrap: Give them a fish

Republican: Give them a fish but make it tax-deductible

Libertarian: It's their problem if they don't know how to fish or not
