SUPPORT OUR TROOPS - Patriots Rally for America IV - Saturday, March 1, 2003, Washington, D.C.
DC Chapter of Free Republic ^ | February 18, 2003 | Angelwood and Kristinn

Posted on 02/18/2003 8:35:34 PM PST by Angelwood

This is important. Drop what you’re doing. Pack the car, get on a plane, a train, a bus or start walking. Our troops need your support right now! They’re laying it on the line for us overseas and all they are seeing in the media is hundreds of thousands of anti-war/anti-American demonstrators marching in our streets.

As evidenced by this article Anti-war Protests Anger U.S. Troops Inside Kuwait those demonstrations are starting to affect morale. You can do something about that, but it will take time, effort and sacrifice -- a modest sacrifice compared to our men and women in uniform waiting for the the word to take out Saddam and his tyrannical terrorist regime.

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic urges all FReepers and lurkers in good standing, as well as their friends and families, veterans and their friends and families and all others who want to stand up for America and support our troops to join us in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, March 1, 2003 for the Patriots Rally for America IV from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m at the outdoor Sylvan Theater on the grounds of the Washington Monument.

As the United States prepares to take the next step in the war on terrorism with probable action in Iraq, it is imperative that we get out and show support for our troops, our Commander-in-Chief and all that’s good about America.

Our troops are there to give their lives if necessary in order to prevent another 9-11 from happening to us. Now more than ever, they need to see your support back home. Please don’t let them down.

We are asking you to bring large American and Gadsden flags. Also, signs bearing messages supporting America, our troops, our Commander-in-Chief and the war on terrorism.

That same day, anti-American leftists will be holding an "anti-war" rally and march in D.C. The "anti-war" rally, organized by IAC-A.N.S.W.E.R. , a front group for the communist World Workers Party, will be held on the Mall near the Capitol Building between 3rd Street and 7th Street, N.W. The organizers have permitted other sites as staging areas for many in their group to assemble and then march to the main event. Some of these staging areas include: Constitution Gardens by the Vietnam War Memorial, the Northeast quadrant of the Washington Monument, and Freedom Plaza at 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.

Another group has plans to assemble in the DuPont Circle area and march to Constitution Avenue, N.W. between 17th and 23rd Streets.

We do not expect any trouble from those groups. Law enforcement officers will be everywhere to keep the peace and ensure that everyone’s rights are respected.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for demonstrating will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no racism, no profanity, no threats, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

When: Saturday, March 1, 2003 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., rain or shine.

Where: The Sylvan Theater, located on the south side of the Washington Monument grounds at Independence Avenue and 15th Street, S.W.

I am a member of the US armed forces and I detest this war. It is an oil war and we should not be there!!!

Rule Number One for Democrat Disruptors:

Identify yourself as "one of them". When calling in to Rush or posting at a conservative site say "I am a Republican" or something similar at the outset. Use the conservative phone line at C-SPAN.

Remember lying is okay if it is for a good cause. Also remember that conservatives tend to be trusting; they don't lie and don't suspect those of us who do.

(Tipoff that this person is lying: "member of US armed forces". Anyone actually serving in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force would never use such stilted language. Go back to the seminar and improve your lying skills, moron.)

No, more likely he had to go out and perform some close-order drill.

It's not about oil, it's about ending terrorism. Even if it were about oil, you could blame that on the lefties, too since they won't allow us to be independent and expand drilling in our own country.

Well, you are correct. From their site:

"The Emergency Convergence had originally been set for March 1 because we wanted to continue to mobilize pro-actively to prevent war before it started. It appeared that the Bush administration would seize upon negative or ambiguous language presented in the UN weapons inspectors February 14 report and use it as a pretext for a quick launching of the war.

We propose now that March 1 be a day for local organizing and that the Emergency Convergence at the White House be on March 15. Now the Bush war timetable has been pushed back because of the political developments that took the administration by surprise in the last week.

1) The report by the inspectors to the Security Council on February 14 and the subsequent discussion inside the UN was a significant set back for the Bush administration's plans. Included in his report, Hans Blix debunked some of the dramatic presentation points made by Secretary of State Powell in his February 5 speech at the UN indicting Iraq. The presentation by International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Mohammed ElBaradei revealed that the inspectors had seen no indication that Iraq was working on a nuclear weapons program. It was clear from the response of various UN delegates that the Bush administration had been momentarily pushed into a defensive posture, its arguments and rationale for a rush to war exposed.

2) While the events of Friday at the UN were significant, the real factor is the massive street protests of the past few months that have forced some governments to at least temporarily pull back from a rush to war. This weekend brought tens of millions of people around the globe into simultaneous action against the war. The social and political relevance of the reemergence of a global mass movement is altering the political equation. It has been the basic premise of the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition that the only thing that could prevent this aggression against Iraq was for the people themselves to become a major force though mass action. Every government in the world and all the mass media are recognizing this central fact.

The New York Times agrees with the Bush agenda for the overthrow of the Iraqi government and it supports a war to accomplish that end. Thus, it is worth including a few words from a front page article from the Times which summarizes the importance of the mass movement:

"The fracturing of the Western alliance over Iraq and the huge antiwar demonstrations around the world this weekend are reminders that there may still be two superpowers on the planet: the United States and world public opinion.

"In his campaign to disarm Iraq, by war if necessary, President Bush appears to be eyeball to eyeball with a tenacious new adversary: millions of people who flooded the streets of New York and dozens of other world cities to say they are against war based on the evidence at hand." (New York Times, Monday, February 17, A1, "A New Power in the Streets")

Because of the intervention of the people, the Bush administration has again been at least momentarily frustrated in its rush to war. Since this is a dynamic struggle between the "two superpowers" (as the NY Times puts it), we all need to be prepared to respond as necessary to effectively counter Bush's war drive.

A.N.S.W.E.R. organizers around the country feel that there is a significant advantage to moving the Emrggency Convergence on the White House to March 15. With two additional weeks of organizing time, the mobilization can be significantly stronger."

First - Gee, don't you think there are many Pro-Americans who don't want a war? Many families will lose their loved ones. Silly!

Second, if you think this is about oil, then you haven't done your homework. Alaska is US territory and all President Bush has to do is push the environmentalist out of the way and we can drill for our own oil!!! AND, we get oil from other countries ( someone can correct me if I'm wrong) of which Irag is not one of them.

Third, you need to start researching the facts and stop listening to propaganda being spread from liberals and terrorist organizations.

And, finally, if you detest war, then why did you join the "US armed forces"?

"If you are willing to support the pointless deaths of our soldiers then I hope you run into a BLIZZARD and -60F weather. "

Well aren't you the sweet one! Just like a liberal puke, to claim your anti-war because your sooooo concerned about the life of innocent civilians and our soldiers, then in the next breath wish ill on a fellow human being because they have a different point of view. You'll go far in life moron.
