Freepers,
I'd like to ask you for prayers for the comforting of a very fine man and his family. Friday evening I received an unexpected phone call from the secretary of the school where I work. She told me that the daughter of our school's counselor, Ed, had unexpectedly died that afternoon. The death of a child is the worst thing that can happen to a parent, but Ed and his wife have lived in fear of this for 25 years or more-- both of their children suffer from sickle-cell anemia.
The children, both in their 20s, have had multiple episodes of sickle-cell crisis. As a matter of fact, this past summer, Ed nearly lost his son during an episode. And now, at Christmas, Ed and his wife, the most loving and dedicated of parents, must bury their daughter-- and then continue living in fear for the life of their son. Thankfully, Ed and his family are very strong Christians, so they have their faith in God and a church-family to support them.
Please, please pray for this family. A very bad thing has happened to very good people.

Please relay my prayers for this family.
Praying that Jesus will wrap his arms of compassion about them during this difficult time in their life, and that the Holy Spirit may bless them with the wisdom that surpasses all understanding. Amen.

How terrible for them, of course we will pray for their comfort Clara Lou. I can't even imagine how horrible it must be to lose your child. May God surround them with his love during this time of pain and bring them safely through this, and please let them know that we weep with them.

Psalm 23
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
