CNN Headline News is reporting that a woman has been shot near a Home Depot in Falls Church, VA, and that authorities are investigating whether this is another sniper attack.

Actually, this thread is keeping some of us up-to-date and informed about what is going on. A woman has been shot in the head by a friggin' psycopath, and frankly, I don't give a damn what kind of ammo or rifle was used. All I know is that there are children without parents, brothers without sisters, and people who have lost loved ones.

Good point about the media. I'm thinking we report helpful information to the police and investigators. The Astrovan has a right tailight out. Call 911 if this vehicle is seen, all others call the tip line. Stop, put your hands on the wheel when approached by the police.

If there are two, there's certainly an ulterior motive in addition to, or to the excusion of a cereal murderer. Would that have to be terrorism? Well maybe so. At the present that's a hard sell since there's no attempt to tie these killings to a "bad" behavior that the perp seeks to change. It may be to shut down commerce. It may be some nut job seeking to impress Jody Foster. Who knows at this point?

Problem is that the small, high-velocity .223 round tends to over-penetrate, going right through the body rather than releasing its energy into the body. That's why the similar 5.56mm NATO round in our M16s required several shots in Somalia to down a target. Bowden talks about this extensively in Black Hawk Down.

The Nosler ballistic-tip .223 won't do this. The plastic tip plunges into a hollow cavity behind it, causing pretty extensive expansion. Nosler
