NEWSFLASH: Another shooting, approx. 9 AM, this time near Fredericksburg

I work in a newsroom in Fredericksburg, and they heard on the police scanner that a person has been shot at a gas station at "Four Mile Fork" which is a neighborhood just south of the City of Fredericksburg.

No details yet, but I wanted to let y'all know -- and keep up the tradition of FReepers getting news first.

Pray for the victim, and pray that this is a random shooting, and that this monster's terror has not widened yet again.

Yes, flourescent light ballasts (the thing that steps the voltage up to make the gas in the light glow) can interfere with radio reception by basically being a source of broad band noise. 1980 would be old enough to have the older style transformer ballasts insteda of electronic ballsts.

Me too. One of the favorite tactics of terrorists (in Europe, at least) is to lure the police to a scene and then detonate a bomb.

I just saw a Fairfax County police cruiser set up shop on the shoulder right near the Edsall Road exit on I395 (which is what I95 becomes after it crosses I495) on my way to work.

I495 North looked like it was closed, but I495 South (the way I was going) was still open.
