***Pathetic TV Show, Mediocre "Stars", Our Heros Deserve Better***
Stardate: 0109.21

And Liza with a z sounds drunk.....

What a night of disasters for TV

The first 30 minutes of the "heros" special was so bad, the acts so lame, no hits, no nothing......what a wasted opportunity.......

I couldn't take it any longer......

It seems that if the studio ain't in Nashville, the sound will be crap.......

The stars, on phones through the hour I could stand with no sound on, were never spoken to, and they were the only points of interest I could find.....all these stars and we're watching a bunch of absolutely mediocre performances by past icons who weren't even smart enought to play their hits......

I knew it was going to be a bust when Springstein DIDN'T play the only appropriate song he has, Born In the USA, and instead sang some nonesense about rise up, rise up, rise up, rise up, rise up and maybe another word or two.......

Hollywood, or whoever is going to take the fall for this absolute failure, should, IMHO get out of the business.

George Bush not a performer gets ripped all the time when he misspeaks. Here are these millionaire performers who can't read off a teleprompter without screwing up. Justice, isn't it ?

The production was lousy because the show was thrown together in the past few days. The left coast entertainment industry was taking so many hits from the "Why is Hollywood Silent?" type articles all over the country, that they thought they better make a show of doing something. They're worried stiff about their bookings, as people are reluctant to go to places like big outdoor concerts or mall movie complexes for a while. Always follow the money with the Hollywood leftists.

Judging things by this thread, sounds like it was better when they were "silent."

I thought it was pretty dam good. Didn't like it all but it was all on the spot.
Which bench was Clint pulled out from?
Willie's solo on America the Beautiful was GREAT(wrong guitar though)!
U2 was real good. If I had to mix belief's and entertainment what would be left? Lee Greenwood? I guess the left is left and I can live with it, don't like it .
I have always like the Boss...Always...Care less what the hell his politics are.

nice thread here is this a "Hate Thread?"

I cannot believe the sheer quantity of pathetic kvetching slime that sometimes drools through the threads of FreeRepublic. The telethon was good. It's always great to watch people perform live. I'd seriously like to see just one of the whiners get up and perform in front of millions. Oh, wait, they think they're doing it here. Problem is, there's nothing at all entertaining about what they do. And it doesn't actually get anything done beyond their own cynical jerk-off.

Yes, it was as pathetic and weak as stale dish water, unworthy of the heroes who sacrificed all for this country. I will wait for another tribute, this time by professionals who are serious about honoring our fallen with good music not dying cat whining.

I don't understand the people here who criticize US for criticizing the pathetic program Hollywood just put on. We're not taking any money away from the effort. We're not on the phone, urging people not to donate. Let us vent! Why shouldn't we be angry. The people they ardently support are the ones who got us into this mess. We're entitled.

Network T.V. entertainment 'specials' are designed for DemoRats behind bars or out on 'pass'.
Why bother to even begin to watch?

I just sat through 90% of it...

No spiritual heft...although I must admit it had it's moments, mainly when the topic was the actions of regular Americans...and Willie singing America the Beautiful...funny to watch all of them have to read the verses off the teleprompter...

But I'm sorry Neil Young and Tom Petty are musical terrorism,

Neil Young? Dude, Neil is cool even if the song was inappropriate. He was a Reagan supporter, and his leftist buddies in show biz gave him hell for it.

It was an uneven show. It was somber because it was all about the people who died and the heroes of Sept. 11, and not about what our country does next. It was probably best that they focused on what they did.

I wondered if any anti-war or anti-Bush stuff would get mixed in, or if they would even acknowledge the President at all. Again, it was probably best that they avoided it.

I liked some of the unplugged/changed versions of songs.

Disliked the fact that Celine Dion sang "God Bless America." Would've still disliked it even if she was American.

"Born in the USA" would definitely not have been a good choice for Bruce.

Clint looked very, very angry. My wife and I were waiting for him to ask Osama bin Laden if he feels lucky. He also looked crooked, like he had something around one side of his waist.

Tom Petty's choice was good. I hope he means it, as applied to the country and our military response. But I won't hold my breath.

We also wondered if we were supposed to just recognize everyone. Are they that stuck on themselves that they assumed we'd know who they were, or were they just oh so selfless that names didn't matter tonight?

James "I saw the run-thru" Woods was there. I wonder what he's been thinking lately.

And is it just me, or did President Bush DO A BETTER JOB OF DELIVERING HIS 34 MINUTE SPEECH THAN ALL THESE HIGHLY PAID SO-CALLED ACTORS DID WITH THEIR SHORT BLURBS?!?!?!
