NPR host Maria Hinojosa said on this week’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Sunday Show” that Latinos who support former President Donald Trump “want to be white.”
Host Jonathan Capehart said, “This is from this Telemundo poll, that shows a shrinking majority of Latino voters in favor of the Democratic candidate.”
He asked, “Vice President Harris at 54%, she has a 14 point lead but it has been shrinking after each consecutive presidential election from 2016. Why is that? Why is the Democratic share of the Latino vote shrinking?”
Hinojosa said, “What I said to you when we asked the question was, Latinos want to be white. They want to be with the cool kids.”

LOL- some guy in the gym this morning was on the treadmill and had PMSNBC on....i was looking over his shoulder- according to their polling, or at least the polling they were using, President Trump has a 6pt advantage over the whore with latino voters.

Under the law, Hispanic is strictly an ethnicity, and race is separate. Many Hispanics are classified as White as a matter of definition, both popular and legal.

Hispanic refers to a person with ancestry from a country whose primary language is Spanish. Latino and its variations refer to a person with origins from anywhere in Latin America (Mexico, South and Central America) and the Caribbean.

Latino is not a race, and Latino represents a variety of ethnicities, including caucasian.

Yes and I’ve known plenty of people from Brazil and Argentina and Mexico. Mostly white as I am.

Uh, last I checked a lot of Spaniards were white. Same for Greeks and I-talians. My heritage is Dutch but I don’t ID as a POC. So what’s with latinos? Aztec/Mayan blood? Which likely traces back back to mongolia....... You know the drill.
I remember being on a bus tour in Costa Rica. At one point the guide pointed out the window at people in the town square.
“What do you notice about all these people?, he asked. “We are white.”
Even then, and this was at least 15 years ago, it sounded so strange to my ears; pride in being white said aloud.
