Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) is pushing a ban on AR-15s by focusing on their gas operation system approximately 64 years after the gun’s design included such a system.
Breitbart News reported that Sen. Angus King (I-ME) and a group of Senate Democrats, including Kelly, introduced an AR-15 ban early Thursday. In so doing, they used new catchphrases such as “lethal capacity weapons” and “gas-operated semiautomatic.
Later Thursday, Kelly posted a video on X in which he continued to emphasize the new catchphrases by explaining that this latest attempt to ban AR-15s and similar rifles “focuses on the lethality of their internal mechanisms.”

Instead, focus on the fact that this man is allowed to vote on legislation, that affects the lives of every American. And the fact that he is an absolute moron and allowed to do that is really, really scary
I had a bolt carrier group leap out of the rifle and try to kill me the other day. Well, it couldn't. But it wanted to.
Well, gas IS wind, so they are wind driven, and acceptable form of energy usage.
Perhaps Armalite should offer a Carbon Neutral version of the 15. Just call it that. No need to explain, defend, etc.

An Arizona gun store says it has canceled a recent purchase of an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle by Mark Kelly thwarting the retired astronaut’s attempt to demonstrate how easy it is to buy high-powered weapons.
Kelly, the husband of former Rep. Gabby Giffords and an outspoken advocate for new gun control measures, had in recent interviews said he was buying the rifle to showcase what he said are unobtrusive background checks.
Doug MacKinlay, owner of Diamondback Police Supply, said it was Kelly’s statements (KELLY LIED on the 4473) that caused him to stop the sale.
“I determined that it was in my company’s best interest to terminate this transaction prior to his returning to my store to complete the Federal Form 4473 and NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) required of Mr. Kelly before he could take possession of this firearm,”
MacKinlay said he sent a full refund to Kelly and nixed the transaction because Kelly made statements in the media that the rifle purchase was “for reasons other than for his personal use.” (DID KELLY LIE ON THE FEDERAL FORM 4473??)
(After being outed as a LIAR) Kelly could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.
Kelly is supporting Anus King ONLY because he is still Cheesed-Off for being outed as a LIAR and denied an AR-15.

Yeah, that’s my guess too. They’re too stupid to realize that the ‘gas’ from a cartridge eventually has to get translated to mechanical energy to push something (a bullet or a BCG or a piston) and that ‘gas’ from the powder explosion will be released into the environment.
"...New legislation introduced today in the House will require all AR-15 and other "Assault Weapons" sold on or after 1/1/2025 to be electrically operated. Mandated included functionality will encompass remote shutoff/activation of the weapon..."
Of course, if this means we can now own Gatling guns that are electrically operated, that might be worth trying to figure out away around the auto-shutoff features...:)
