Gas, Up and Away: Average Gallon Costs $4.87, an All-Time US Record

The pain at the pump continues for the vast majority of American drivers.

According to AAA, the average price of regular unleaded gas surged 59 cents over the last month, and Monday's average of $4.87 per gallon represents the most expensive average rate in United States history.

The one-week pricing spikes in Michigan (45 cents per gallon), Indiana (41 cents), and Wisconsin (39 cents) have been staggering.

The price hikes in Colorado, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, and Texas have also been steep, with each of the six states incurring a minimum increase of 30 cents per gallon over the last week.

Amid this unprecedented surge, all 50 states are now reporting average fuel prices exceeding $4 per gallon, with Oklahoma being the last state to eclipse the $4 mark, on average (end of May).

The state posting the lowest unleaded gas right now? According to GasBuddy.com ... it's Georgia at $4.28 per gallon.

According to Gas Buddy, which monitors fuel trends in various markets and countries, 10 different states — Indiana ($5.12 per gallon), Arizona ($5.14), Michigan ($5.15), Washington ($5.39), Oregon ($5.40), Hawaii ($5.42), Illinois ($5.43), Alaska ($5.44), Nevada ($5.48), and California ($6.33) — are currently reporting gas averages at $5 or higher.

In fact, a Chevron gas station in Los Angeles reportedly has unleaded fuel at $8.05 per gallon.

For that particular situation, however, corporate Chevron said: "This station, along with the majority of our branded stations in California, are owned by independent businesspeople who make their own decisions about the price to charge at their stations."

In a Monday blog post, AAA attributed the record-high fuel costs to a volatile market and high demand.

According to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, AAA revealed that gasoline stocks decreased 5.1 million barrels to 414.7 million barrels...

"And nobody really talked about natural gas almost quadrupling since Biden was inflicted upon the Nation.:

YES, AC and heating costs are going to skyrocket.

Might be a good time to buy the new coat or extra blankets. There may be a shortage this winter even as expensive as they'll probably be.

Hi.

In the fwiw department, I paid $5.56 per gal in Florida yesterday.

Premium.

Notice my tagline. Might be a harbinger.

Let’s go Brandon.

5.56mm

‘’YES, AC and heating costs are going to skyrocket.’’

———-

Just read an article on the Texas grid. Even if it holds up just fine, they use natural gas for 45% of electricity production….we are all screwed at these astronomical natural gas prices no matter the circumstances

Gas at 4.99 in my part of Maryland….up 50 cents since Friday

It’s not just in the US. Gas prices in most of the world are at record highs.

Biden’s incompetence (I hope it’s only incompetence) is destroying not just the US, but all of the world.

I used to go out several times a week. Now I rarely leave the property. Gas prices are too high. Have to watch my bank account real carefully since I retired.

That’s how they think and how out of touch with real Americans they are.

I’m a little nervous that they’re going to pull off a major event this fall that will prevent us from having the mid-term elections.

Yes. I think this will be the last straw once the AC and heating bills start coming in.
I'm presently concerned about my AC costs.

“we are driving to a wedding back in PA from the west coast....at this rate, it’ll cost us $2000 if gas nears $10...”

As of today the price of regular gas in northeast PA is $5.19, up $0.25 from a few days ago.

I would find it helpful if articles like this would state the price at the pump with and without taxes. Gas is the only product where we the consumers are presented only with the after tax prices and we are left to ignore the taxes or just assume they are divinely ordained.

This is 100% Barak Biden's fault.

Democrats and the democrat controlled legacy news networks will be sure to put the blame somewhere else.

Gas is anywhere from $4.23 - $5.59 per gallon here in Anchorage, AK today. Just looked at gas prices at home, 5.69 per gallon 87 octane. Ouch. FJB

Back then diesal was cheaper than regular gas. So $1.45 gas could have meant diesal was $1.15.
