Kathy Barnette SURGES in PA primary polling as Dr. Oz stumbles

With two weeks to go before the hotly contested Pennsylvania Republican Primary, a new poll shows that race is now a statistical 3-way tie between Dr. Mehmet Oz, Kathy Barnette, and Dave McCormick.

According to the new Trafalgar Group poll, Trump endorsed Oz was at 24.5 percent, Barnette was at 23.2 percent and McCormick was at 21.6 percent in the race to be the nominee for the seat of retiring GOP Senator Pat Toomey.

The survey was conducted between May 6 and May 8. The poll consisted of 1080 likely 2022 GOP primary voters, had a response rate of 1.44 percent and a margin of error of 2.99 percent.

Pundits theorized that Barnette is surging due to her recent debate performance and Oz was falling due to his heavy negatives with Republican voters. During the debate last Wednesday, Barnette spoke about her mother, who was only 11-years-old when she was raped by a man 10 years her senior. Barnette was the result of that rape, and her gratitude to her mother for carrying her and giving her life was clear.

"Whether this was a leak or whether this was a tactical operation we will soon figure out," she said in response to a question about the recent, unprecedented leak of a draft majority opinion from the Supreme Court that could overturn Roe v. Wade.

"One thing is clear, I am so very grateful that our nation is now having a very important conversation, and that is the most important conversation, that is about life. I am the byproduct of a rape," she said.

"My mother was 11-years-old when I was conceived. My father was 21. I was not just a lump of cells. As you can see, I'm still not just a lump of cells. My life has value. And that is one of the reasons why it was so very disturbing when I saw Mehmet Oz running for this particular race." Barnette said she had seen Oz, on "numerous occasions," including on podcast The Breakfast Club, where in 2019 he said that six weeks into a woman's pregnancy, a baby's heart is just "a cell" with "little electrical changes." Oz is a surgeon who has performed operations on infants.

"And the other thing is this whole thing about heart beating," Oz said at the time. "I mean, they're electrical changes at six weeks, but the heart's not beating … If you were to say, starting when we can hear the heart, like when the heart's really doing something, that'd be different. That's not six weeks, though."

Barnette asked Oz if he had changed his position on that. Oz did not say whether he had or had not changed his view but said, "One of the toughest endorsements you could ever get is from your mother-in-law. My mother-in-law is an ordained minister. She wrote a lot of the pro-life literature in Montgomery County where we live, and she certainly understands that I'm pro-life."

"As a heart surgeon I've operated on small children few days old and witnessed the majesty of their hearts pounding blood even though it's ill because I'm operating not to those bodies. I would never think of harming that child or even nine months earlier because life starts at conception," Oz said.

In her closing statements, Barnette said "I am you Pennsylvania and like you I believe this is the greatest country that has ever existed, but like you, I believe our country is in trouble. I believe that America that allowed me to claw my way out of dire poverty is about to come to a close."

"This time you do not have to hold your nose to vote for the lesser of two evils. I am in a statistical tie for first place, so voting for me is not throwing your vote away."

"Listen, go to my Facebook page by Kathy Barnett for Senate and you will see exactly what I'm doing today that I will amp up tomorrow after this race. You will see me in rooms full of black people changing their voter registration from Democrat to Republican, you will see me downtown and Chinatown. They are mine. You will see people ushering me in front of a roomful of Amish people with them introducing me as someone with their values."

"Not only do I have a grasp on our own base, but I can go into every nook and cranny and take the votes that we need in order to really be better than in the general election. So, let's go do this." Barnette received a massive round of applause after the remarks.

I saw her too. It’s great that we have someone who is that smart and has a backbone too on our side.

I really don't know anything about Oz beyond Trump's endorsement and campaigning for him.

I believe that he is more of a snake oil salesman than actual doctor. Here is a picture of him not wearing his fake Indian garb...

If she’s the nominee I’ll send her my standard amount-$100. She will have to be competitive in October. I’m an Oz guy but he’s not worthy of money. Mine will be spent to win and he can use his own.

Can we gather behind her? It didn’t work with James in Mich. either time.

She is the poster child of the pro-life movement. A walking example of what choosing life means. She will destroy the Dem.

One of the major reasons Trump picked Oz was because he knows Oz and knows he won’t be one of the backstabbers. He is sick of the backstabbers and knows you can’t govern by picking people with experience or conservative pedigree from a spreadsheet.

Relevant clip starts at 49 minutes. Should come right up:

Yes - I would be shocked if Trump were to say anything but kind words about her.

Remember, in 2016, when he earned the reputation of being vicious toward his opponents, there were certain ones that he always spoke well of….Ben Carson, Rand Paul, to name a few.

And it wasn’t because they were no threat - there was a time when Ben Carson was even leading in the polls or close to it - Iowa caucuses I believe - then the Cruz people started a rumor that Carson had dropped out of the race - what a dirty trick.

But Trump never attacked Carson - in fact he outright praised him and defended him a couple times.

I am positive he would do the same for Kathy Barnette - she is a stand up person and Trump likes that.

As far as actually changing his endorsement - I really don’t think that would be wise at this point - it would make Trump look like a loose cannon and people wouldn’t know if they could trust his endorsements - but no doubt he’ll be happy to campaign for her in the general election if she wins.

Dr. Oz makes Romney look good.

Okay, I gather you do not like Dr. Oz. Neither do quite a few other people on this group

Now I'm not saying Dr. Oz is a good or bad guy but...well maybe I am.

First, I love his daughter, who is really pretty (I am female to clarify) and has now four children I think. Daphne Oz, co-host of The Dish, time slot taken over from her father, who had a daily show around noonish every day.

I always liked the Dr. Oz show but just in passing. He had various guests and health spots on his show that were interesting. Dr. Oz too is very handsome and seems quite personable.

Now without calling me stupid or names....what exactly is wrong with Dr. Oz? Did I miss something.

For while I am not from Pennsylvania, I would vote for him if I was.

Enlighten me if y'all don't mind. Enlighten whether you like him or not and tell me why.

TYIA

Watch, if Barnette gets the nomination, Karl Rove and the Bush League Republicans will assist in electing the Democrat. They’ve done it repeatedly.

Newt Gingrich will be right on board with them.

Mainly because he can finance his own campaign and is most likely to beat the globalist stooge McCormick. If McCormick would just fade away, then Kathy would have a decent chance.

As they did with John James in Michigan ... TWICE!!!

John James didn't help himself by going mum. I bet he 'clammed up' to get support for his Congress run this year.

You can't leave the plantation on the Dem side as a black person ... but you can't be too 'uppity' as a black person in the GOP either.

Trust me on this, Fetterman is a strong commanding candidate. The man has more street credibility than you are likely to find in PA...

This is a man who moved into Braddock PA and stayed, and was mayor there for 14 years... (For those who aren’t from the Pittsburgh region, lets just say Braddock is a place you avoid and if you can’t you get through it as quickly as possible) I don’t agree with him politically, but he’s a 6’9” and an imposing person. When he’s in the room, you know it. This guy has a record for fighting for and where folks like Oz and McCormick wouldn’t be caught dead in.

The GOP candidates Oz (complete slimeball and carpet bagger empty suit) and McCormick, just a generic GOPe politician, will be absolutely demolished by Fetterman. Neither have a base to build from in PA, and neither have a particularly compelling story to tell or offer... So they are no better than a generic R candidate at best.. Oz in particular is NOT going to play in person, he won’t connect with the blue collar voters in this state at all.

The generic pro forma GOP attacks on D’s aren’t going to land well against Fetterman.

Kathy’s got a story to tell and a fire in her belly, she’ll make people notice her, Oz and McCormick? Not a chance, Fetterman will eat them for lunch. The only way they have a prayer is if the D brand itself is so damaged that any R would win, because Fetterman is a far stronger candidate and will connect better with PA voters than either one of those two.

I am personally hopefully Kathy pulls off the upset Tuesday, we will see.

Mccormick is more dangerous than OZ. As long as that deep state China-licker loses, I’m cool.
