Dems worry as fundraising fails to surge after SCOTUS leak about overturning Roe

Is it too apples-and-oranges to compare their online haul yesterday to their haul the day after Ginsburg died in September 2020? That was six weeks before a presidential election, at a moment of high civic engagement when liberals were already shelling out money hand over fist to try to push Trump and the GOP out of power.

Whereas yesterday was just a spring day, six months out from a midterm election, when the news was dominated by a leak that may or may not portend the imminent demise of Roe v. Wade.

Look at it this way, I guess. Had there been a gigantic spike yesterday in donations, that would be a signal that Dem voters really have awakened suddenly from their midterm stupor and that the outcome this fall might newly be in doubt. As it is, there’s no such evidence.

The day after Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died, Democratic donors poured more than $30 million into Democratic campaigns and groups through ActBlue, shattering its own one-day fundraising records.

In the 23 hours after POLITICO reported a draft Supreme Court opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade, ActBlue took in just $9 million — just a small uptick from the days prior…

“Midterm voters care about affordability first and foremost, and they are not people who are worried every single day about losing access to abortion,” said Julie Roginsky, a Democratic strategist who began her career as a researcher at the abortion rights group EMILY’s List. “My fear continues to be that sometimes we as Democrats run on things that we wish the voters cared about, rather than what the voters do care about.”

Wow. One of them does get it. Let’s hope this doesn’t catch on.

They were fundraising minutes after the leak. Seems coordinated.

Hmm, so that didn’t work. Time to trot out something else like cranking up covid hysteria, or something ray-ciss.

Time for another mass shooting, or a white cop killing a black guy.

RBG croaked 9/18/20 and they haul in $30 million.
SCOTUS R v W ruling leaked 5/2/22 and they get $9 million.

Maybe people are trimming their Biden-ruined, inflated-destroyed family budget? Maybe putting food on the table, buying gas to get to work and generally making ends meet is more important than murdering babies?

In September 2020, Trump had only been out of office eight months and we were still riding high on his success. Then Biden turned everything to sh!t and the public mood soured. Maybe people today are so concerned about out of control inflation, out of control crime, and the threat of Russkie nukes that baby-killing is taking a back seat.

Maybe the typical pro-abortion voter has figured out that overturning Roe v Wade just puts the matter back to the states, which is close to how it is now as Texas and some other states have abortion restrictions now.

There’s another thing. They just rammed their trans agenda down the throats of parents and attacked female athletes. Suburban women remember that stuff. So waving the literal bloody shirt of abortion isn’t nearly as effective.

I recently sent the Democrats a sizable donation. I hope they spend it wisely (after taking out 10% for the Big Guy, of course).

A ruined economy and soaring inflation can’t be fixed or covered over by pussyhat abortion ghouls and whining homos skeered their marriage dreams will end.

Severely messing with people’s livelihoods and finances by making them poor will get you thrown out. Even cheating may not be acceptable.

I think a lot of women who were reflexively pro-abortion are also Mothers who are rethinking their loyalties after Democrats have gone after their living children.

“Maybe putting food on the table, buying gas to get to work and generally making ends meet is more important than murdering babies?”

Wow...you bring up a difficult question for your average woke Democrat:

“Do I vote so I won’t be starving and homeless or do I vote so I can do all manner of interesting things with my private parts?”

This supports my theory that the leak was not from a justice, a clerk, or a court insider, but the result of surveillance by the deep state. The intent was not to change a justice’s opinion before the final opinion was released, but to energize the Democratic base, enhance fundraising, and secure a larger Democratic turnout by making codifying the right to abortion under federal law an issue in the November election.
