New UC Riverside research shows soybean oil not only leads to obesity and diabetes, but could also affect neurological conditions like autism, Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety, and depression.
Specifically, the scientists found pronounced effects of the oil on the hypothalamus, where a number of critical processes take place.
“The hypothalamus regulates body weight via your metabolism, maintains body temperature, is critical for reproduction and physical growth as well as your response to stress,”
“The dogma is that saturated fat is bad and unsaturated fat is good. Soybean oil is a polyunsaturated fat, but the idea that it’s good for you is just not proven,” Sladek said.
Indeed, coconut oil, which contains saturated fats, produced very few changes in the hypothalamic genes.
“If there’s one message I want people to take away, it’s this: reduce consumption of soybean oil,” Deol said about the most recent study.

That's me too. And I always keep clarified butter on hand for cooking. Easy to make, and it takes high temperatures without smoking or burning.
Popeye's been eating olive oil for years, and he's still going strong!
Hey, this is out of California, where EVERYTHING is cancer causing, a pollutant, or if genetically altered is bad! In CA even water and air,or just waking up in the morning, are unhealthy. You’re in danger from the moment of conception.
One aspect of liberals (who likely come from small families) overall seems to be an inordinate avoidance of interacting with strangers, if not to protesting the latest perceived major injustice.
You wouldn't believe how easy it is to make mayonnaise with your preferred oil.
Immersion blender.
This week's 8-ounce jar is sitting in the frig.
Once you get accustomed to eating peanut butter that has no added sugar, any other kind does not taste good. Look for peanut butter that has two ingredients: peanuts and salt.
“Butter and olive oil may not be perfect, but they are all I use.”
About 15 years ago my RN wife attended a common sense CME course re what to eat and what not eat.
Then, she asked their private practice patients, who were 80+ and still in good health what they cooked with. They replied butter, olive oil and wine for the food and the cook.
She, then, threw away anything that was not real like oleo and all of the various so called cooking oils.
Next, she got rid of any processed food in a box and most carbs.
It seems to have worked. She is now 81, and I will be 83 next month. I have outlived all of my male ancestors by 6+
years.
She has about 6 more years before she can make that claim. Many of her female ancestors made it to their late 80’s.
It’s what pays the bills so that corn can be harvested.
Is it just eggs and olive oil?
Industrialization was great for making widgets but a disaster for food and medicine.
Highly processed food is slow poison. Most of it is just simple carbs, something our body has never had in great abundance and doesn’t deal with very well.
Soy produces blood clots in my body. It is very difficult to find ANYTHING without soy. Soy lecithin is in such tiny amounts that it doesn’t bother me, but I read ALL labels and make my own salad oils, etc. Soybean oil had never been in my cabinet...and I’ve been stating for years and decades that we should NOT be giving newborns soy milk products. It is directly associated with early onset periods in young girls since it acts as estrogen, and for boys...why would we feed an estrogen replacement to newborn boys? And we wonder where the gender confusion comes from...?
Must be the cook. I make my own mayo (and sometimes ketchup). My mayo comes out good but if you use cider vinegar...its weird. The type of vinegar you use makes a big difference. I try to use an oil containing as little flavor as possible. I love olive oil but not in everything.

Me, but Avacado oil too.
Hubby eats Kraft mayo from olive oil. He thinks it’s healthier and maybe it is. I’m not a Mayo fan to begin with, but the olive oil mayo has something funky about it.
This is how we wound up with Soy Boys.
