Haven’t watched a minute and have no intention to watch a minute for the entire 2 weeks or whatever.

I don’t know anyone who is watching, or who cares.I know one guy in the office who is watching. He is conservative but still watches all sports and new movies. But he's single and lives in a condo and wouldn't have anything else to do otherwise.

blame the quitting of biles Which is about all I know of this year's Olympics. And that's only because I read it on a news site.
I'll refrain from commenting on the incident, but I'd be REALLY pissed if I was the possible alternate who got dropped from the team!

Commercials are no longer about the product but instead they are pushing the left’s ideology. You are absolutely right.

In the age of the internet, I never understood why anyone would pay top dollar to advertise on sporting events that are being staged 10+ time zones away from your prime audience. Most people aren’t watching TV when the events are being held, and the audience is bound to be smaller for tape-delayed programming when they already know the results. I quite agree. The only Olympics event I was remotely interested in (the Rugby Gold Medal match between New Zealand and Fiji) was posted on YouTube--no commercials or leftist propaganda.

e 5 minutes of actual competition followed by what seems 5-8 minutes of commercials
Exactly. Totally unwatchable.

Sports are now political advocacy.
The political space is saturated and there is no need for the Olympics any longer.

I agree broadcast TV isn’t watchable due to the commercials...
Interestingly though, I have started to do TUBI streaming... and while its commercial based, its watchable... the breaks are 2-5 commercials usually 15 seconds each, so its tolerable... don’t even mind it. (can’t skip them)
Broadcast TV has 8 minutes of commercials or so anymore for every 30 minutes of airtime... I can’t watch it... Will record and skip the commercials, on the rare occassion they actually broadcast something I want to watch. The Olympics are EVER WORSE or at least seem to be in terms of Commercial time vs program time.

“nbc and others will blame the quitting of biles on the poor ratings”
I’d be very surprised if that were true beyond the Corporate boardroom. They dare not go after the African American girl with “mental” issues. They will be destroyed by the Wokesters, BLM you name it.

I think the time zone difference is also killing ratings, too.

“The commercials are nauseating”
You said it, and so is most of the regular programming.
YES! On top of the athlete's spoiled brat mentality, the ads are horrible and often are pushing a far left agenda. I remember the VRBO commercial that was celebrating the "opening up" and folks getting ready for a wedding at a very nice home and I thought to myself, this is a nice little ad. Then BOOM... it shows the "bride" and groom kissing...two men. Unnecessary.
