Former National Security Adviser John Bolton said on Monday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Situation Room” that President Donald Trump has been a “useful idiot” in his dealing with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and North Korean Kim Jong-un.
Anchor Wolf Blitzer asked, “Lieutenant Colonel Vindman also told The Atlantic magazine President Trump is in his words, Vladimir Putin is a useful idiot. Do you agree with that characterization?

John Bolton has truly disgraced himself from what he once was. It’s a real shame to watch a person devolve like Bolton has ... and so quickly it has happened.

All Trump would need to do to win over Bolton would be to invade Iran and/or Syria, and maybe touch off a low-level shooting conflict with Russia. That would make Trump a useful idiot to the agenda Bolton serves. Trump could win over Bolton, Kristol, Podhoretz, Frum, Brooks, Wolfowitz. Perle, Bremer and all sorts of other wonderful people if he would just start some wars.
Russia gives the deepstate a war boner.
Lesson for Republicans — never hire a staffer with an agenda of his own, who won’t quietly leave even if it’s not under the best circumstsnces. People like Bolton with big egos and followings won’t cut it.
Trump spent a lifetime in the real estate business, frequently dealing with unsavory characters. This has been perfect training for the presidency as he can’t just overthrow all the world’s dictators, he has to deal with them.
Exactly, this whole thing makes no sense -- how did Bolton grow so nuts?
Except, if we remember that Trump brought Bolton on in the first place to be his Mr. Hard-#ss Hawk, to scare foreign countries that Trump might just do anything.
Now that he's left, Bolton sends them the opposite message -- Trump is too nice, too eager to make a deal with them.
In reality Trump is the same as be always was, but context, context means a lot, and Bolton provides cover against Democrat claims that Trump is a "war monger".
It's the only logical explanation I can think of.
Bolton’s only response to all situations is war. He is nothing but an angry fool.
Trump is making deals for peace.
Bolton is a useful idiot of the military/industrial complex.....
Never a conflict he didn’t want to get involved in.....yet, he never served.....

Trump is screwing up Bolton’s wars. . . .
It's no joke that they are war mongers. They believe it's good for the world for the USA to be at war all the time. So of course Trump not wanting that makes them angry and that dictators love it because if we aren't at war somewhere they will think we are weak (in the view of the likes of Bolton).
But I don't think anyone out there thinks Trump is a pushover who won't fight. Ask the Iranians if they think that after he blew up their head of intelligence, something Bush and Obama would have been too terrified to even consider.
It's a damn shame, really.
“Useful idiot” must be the agreed upon phrase of the week. Vindman just used it yesterday.
Democrats aren't very creative, or smart. Even the union teachers couldn't figure out how to reopen schools safely as hundreds of people do just fine in Supermarkets and grocery stress and the like.
