Less than a year after having gender surgery, Nathaniel now says, This whole thing was a bad idea. I am 19 years old, and I feel as though I have ruined my life.
Its heartbreaking each time I get a letter from someone who underwent gender-change surgery and regrets it, especially someone as young as Nathaniel.
With his permission, Im telling a bit of his story to raise awareness of the young lives being ruined by the rush to surgery, and hoping that hearing the testimony of this young man will influence others on this path to slow down and consider the consequences before consenting to surgery.
In Nathaniels case, he says he was bullied by the boys in elementary school because he was sensitive and preferred playing girl games. When he was a bit older, he discovered internet pornography, heard about transgenderism, and as he says, convinced myself thats what I was.
When he finally worked up the nerve to tell his mother in the summer after eighth grade, she made an appointment with, in his words, a doctor at an informed-consent clinic.
He started seeing the doctor a week after his 15th birthday, and from how he describes the next years of his teens, Id say going to the clinic didnt improve his life.
From then on, he says, I slowly detached from everything until I was just staying home, playing video games, and going on the internet all day. I stopped reading, drawing, riding my bicycle. I surrounded myself in an echo chamber that supported and validated my poor decisions, because the others were also, unfortunately, stuck in that pit, too.

I disagree. Yes he was young and dumb, but his own mother took him there, consented and appears to be ok with it.
IT made it’s decision, let IT live with it. Too much of folks blaming someone else for the predicament.
I’m thinking this mother isn’t any different than the one that thought it was ok to let her 11yr old, cross dressing boy dance in a strip club.
Hate to even say this, but there should be an age limit on when this whole process can begin. Young kids and teenagers should not legally be allowed to do any of this.
Interesting. Go through the surgery twice. I know there’s a doctor at John’s Hopkins who has studied the topic, extensively, and comes up with the same conclusions.
The heart of the problem is the child’s own depression, mental illness, and above all, the adults around him abdicating all responsibility for his well-being.
Pretty much nailed it, right there. The adults around him being the most culpable, IMHO. As for the school, all it would have taken is a meeting with the administration, especially these days and the problem would have been handled, if it even existed.
And the modern castrati can’t even sing.
So, this is fine, but female genital mutilation is a bad thing? Liberals need to get consistent.
Or taking him to the range to shoot a gun or go deer hunting. I’d like to meet the mother to see just how deranged she is.
I’ve heard of that. Remember John Bobbit? A penis can be reattached. It’s been done. However that I know of I’ve never heard of testes being reattached.
Crazy world, ain’t it?
Chronological age never equated to having brains or common sense. Work for 15 minutes in a hospital ER and you’ll see that. There is no shortage of people in this world of any age who aren’t too stupid to be idiots. In fact the older some people get the dumber they get.
Like hell it isnt! What part of society did not prevent the social construct of this being acceptable treatment? What part of socialized radical feminism attacked masculinity to the point of feminizing young boys to the point that one end of the male spectrum actually wanted to become women, and society said its OK and well even pay for it? It damn well is societys fault! Damn progressive, leftist societys fault.
This sick surgery should be outlawed, let idiots go to Iran if they really want one that badly.
Pretty simple... "LIVE and LEARN!"
Yes.. it's TRUE! You can PROFIT even from STUPID decisions.

Until about age 25, emotion tends to rule. The ability to think and plan long term as opposed to “for the moment” is what seems to take until age 25 to develop. I actually saw it in myself as well as in my kids. Age 25 is when, if left on their own, people say, “What the heck am I doing with my life and, with no prodding, may start trade school on their own, etc.
I’ve seen it a lot.
No... a soldier losing a leg in combat is totally different from some stupid asshole who made a self-conscious decision to castrate himself.
I joined the Marine Corps at seventeen.
Delayed development of the ability to plan does not at all come from the brain not being developed.
It comes from not being made to shoulder responsibilities.
I have seen this proven over and over thousands of times, contrasting young officers and non commissioned officers with private first classes and lance corporals who are the same age.
Agree!
Actually, it is not fully developed. Of course, it varies from person to person, regarding age, but tha skill I’m talking about is the ability to think about the long term consequences of decisions. Before age 25, humans tend to live more in the moment and make decisions based more on emotion.
It’s not that one is “stupid” until they are 25. It’s more like “a baby is not fully developed in the womb until a full 9 months is done. We have plenty of people running around that are fully developed and just like every body else, even though they were born at 8 months or even less. They’re completely normal. Their birth happened early is all.
Same with people that make major decisions before 25. Sometimes it is because others force them (parents make you go to college). Sometimes it is because they are taught, from a very early age, to prepare for the future. But the point at which that ability is fully developed is around age 25.
Do you mean this doctor at Johns Hopkins can rebuilt penises? If that is the case, he is going to have a lot of business from relatively normal guys (if you know what I mean).
ha ha ha ha ha .... someone’s got to do it
....and bring the machine that goes BING!
Yep. Saw that one.
