Less than a year after having gender surgery, Nathaniel now says, This whole thing was a bad idea. I am 19 years old, and I feel as though I have ruined my life.
Its heartbreaking each time I get a letter from someone who underwent gender-change surgery and regrets it, especially someone as young as Nathaniel.
With his permission, Im telling a bit of his story to raise awareness of the young lives being ruined by the rush to surgery, and hoping that hearing the testimony of this young man will influence others on this path to slow down and consider the consequences before consenting to surgery.
In Nathaniels case, he says he was bullied by the boys in elementary school because he was sensitive and preferred playing girl games. When he was a bit older, he discovered internet pornography, heard about transgenderism, and as he says, convinced myself thats what I was.
When he finally worked up the nerve to tell his mother in the summer after eighth grade, she made an appointment with, in his words, a doctor at an informed-consent clinic.
He started seeing the doctor a week after his 15th birthday, and from how he describes the next years of his teens, Id say going to the clinic didnt improve his life.
From then on, he says, I slowly detached from everything until I was just staying home, playing video games, and going on the internet all day. I stopped reading, drawing, riding my bicycle. I surrounded myself in an echo chamber that supported and validated my poor decisions, because the others were also, unfortunately, stuck in that pit, too.

Life imitates South Park....
Mrs. Garrison: Hello doctor, looks like I need an abortion. [sits on the chair and puts his feet on the stirrups]
Doctor: ...an abortion?
Mrs. Garrison: Yeah, Ive got one growing inside me. Now, are you gonna scramble its brains or just vacuum it out? [a nurse arrives and her jaw drops] ...If you want you can just scramble it and Ill queef it out myself.
Doctor: Mmister Garrison-
Mrs. Garrison: [correcting him] Mrs. Garrison.
Doctor: Mmrs. Garrison, you cant have an abortion.
Mrs. Garrison: Dont you tell me what I can and cant do with my body! [gets up, goes to the nurse, and hugs her] A woman has a right to choose!
Doctor: No, I mean youre physically unable to have an abortion, because you cant get pregnant.
Mrs. Garrison: But I missed my period.
Doctor: You cant have periods either. [Mrs. Garrison looks surprised] You had a sex change, Mr. Garrison, but you dont have ovaries or a womb. You dont produce eggs.
Mrs. Garrison: [sits down] You mean, Ill never know what it feels like to have a baby growing inside me and then scramble its brains and vacuum it out?
Doctor: N-thats right.
Mrs. Garrison: But I paid five thousand dollars to be a woman. This would mean I Im not really a woman. I... Im just a... a Im just a guy with a mutilated penis!
Doctor: Basically, yes.
Mrs. Garrison: ...Oh boy, do I feel like a jackass.
Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes.
Tragic. He should be able to sue the clinic that counseled him in this direction.
Sadly, suicide will be his final act on this Earth.
Great guy. Telling the truth and saving lives.
Snip in haste, repent at leisure.
Yes...odd are. Sucks to be him...her...it!
Odds
Should be required to be 21 before you can hack off your genitals.
In general, mutilating your body is not a good idea.
The good news... these and other morons like him, cant breed.
Or biology.
I work in a hospital in southern NJ. A year a guy came into the ER. He was about 25. Cut his own testicles off.
“I am 19 years old, and I feel as though I have ruined my life.
I'm already calling BS on this. Its such an easy and cheap victimhood excuse. Yes, there may be 1-2 kids in every school who will make snide comments, but unless its an out-of-control inner city school, present kids and teachers bend over backwards to befriend and accommodate kids who are different. Its been the public school mantra for 30 years now.
The heart of the problem is the child's own depression, mental illness, and above all, the adults around him abdicating all responsibility for his well-being.
Well that was an informed decision.
Measure twice, cut once.
If you had sold this kid a pack of cigarettes at fifteen you are pure evil. Assist him in mutilating himself you’re so cool.
