Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to unite the country on Thursday after a big election win, with his party on course to increase its majority on a mandate of business-friendly policies and a tough stand on national security.
Official data from the Election Commission showed Modis Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead in 300 of the 542 seats being contested, up from the 282 it won in 2014 and more than the 272 seats needed for a majority in the lower house of parliament.
That would give it the first back-to-back majority for a single party since 1984.
Together we will build a strong and inclusive India, Modi said on Twitter.
India wins yet again!

I have no idea who the hell “the jackal” is and spare me the conspiracy theories. You have no idea if any of it is true. Nefarious intent or pure, gold-plated incompetence? Who cares? Either way, they had their turn, they screwed it up, now it’s time for other people to run the show.
for the fun of it, go look up Ilich Ramirez Sanchez.
You might learn something.

Well keep the guns nearby anyway because the dems have thrown out the constitution, it seems few republicans have any b.lls, and Trump cant take on everyone by himself.
He shouldn’t have to.
A great post. A brilliant post.
It’s also the dirtiest, filthiest, country I’ve ever seen.
Modi is there to be used as a wedge against China; and also as the weakest link in the BRIC...as long as he knows when to heel I'm satisfied.
India has a great (historic) chance to grab business and speed development, as the global supply chain gets blasted out of China.
Modi is the right man to lead that change - a business-friendly reformer. His anticipated free market reforms were less than expected in his first term due to his narrow majority, but in the right direction.
His election is bad news for islamic radicals in India (or Pakistan). Not only is his BJP party considered a a staunchly religiously conservative Hindu Nationalist Party, but he himself has been a member of the even more hard-core Hindu political movement, the RSS, since his youth.
The RSS are the guys who will take to the streets to counter-riot against any muslim riot. They famously made an issue of tearing down a several hundred year old mosque in Ayodhya, built by the Mughal (muslim) Empereor Babur. They mobbed that mosque and tore it down, with 2,000 killed in the rioting afterward.
He is a strongly pro-defense politician as well, likely to build up India’s Navy against China, and continue India’s march of over-matching Pakistan’s military capabilities.
And again, the polls and MSM called it wrong.
They just don’t get that people do NOT want what they are selling.
“Its also the dirtiest, filthiest, country Ive ever seen.”
The only country that even close to being as dirty as India is perhaps Egypt. At least that I’ve seen.
p
yup, India’s poor people are the poorest in the world
Australia
BJP (the Hindu National Party of P.M. Modi) does not say that one has to be a Hindu to be a good citizen of India. It says one has to embrace the values and laws of India. To be sure, these values reflect the unique experience of India, and are informed by the country’s predominant religion. To be sure, this is official party doctrine, and probably there are members of BJP that think, yes, you have to Hindu.
I would say the same thing about the U.S. You dont’t have to be a Christian. You can be, for example, a Buddhist, an be 100 percent American. It would help to demonstrate this by saluting the flag, by having family members in our armed forces, and so forth. Also, by not being a criminal, but obeying our laws.
On the other hand, if you run down the country, don’t expect me to “honor” your religious heritage. You come across as anti-American and hateful of our people and our heritage, including the religious heritage of the majority of us. Obviously, those two hate-filled Muslim females in Congress are prime examples of what I’m talking about. If they hate this country, why don’t they go back to the country the prefer?
Oh, I forgot, we have better welfare benefits here.
I would say that they DO get it. Otherwise, they wouldn't work so hard to censor everything that does not advance the socialist agenda, and be so united in promoting a certain narrative. If they thought that people *wanted* the socialist dictatorship that they are promoting, they wouldn't bother with the censorship.
Well, that’s likely true too.
Or they think we’re too stupid to see through their tactics so they keep trying anyways, thinking that they can convince us that’s where everyone is heading anyways, and it’s great etc.
Maybe they don’t realize we’re not the sheepish followers they are. They do seem to be big on projection.
Australia (last week) — possibly the UK with Boris Johnson?
Everyone wants their own Trump!
Soon to include the Brits if Boris or the other guy wins prime minister’s job.
