California GOP ponders way forward after stunning losses

With Walters’ loss to newcomer Katie Porter, Democrats will hold a 44-9 edge in U.S. House seats, with another Orange County GOP seat in peril. The county was once home to President Richard Nixon and was considered a foundation of the modern conservative movement, gaining the moniker “Reagan country.”

Democrats are on track to hold every statewide office — again. And there wasn’t even a Republican on the ballot for U.S. Senate.

“The California Republican Party isn’t salvageable at this time,” concluded Kristin Olsen, a former Republican leader in the state Assembly.

“The Grand Old Party is dead — partly because it has failed to separate itself from today’s toxic, national brand of Republican politics,” she wrote in a column on the website CALmatters.

Shawn Steel, one of California’s two Republican National Committee members, said the state party has “reached the point of desperation.”

“The party’s problems have been around longer and run much deeper than any one person. From money to grassroots organization, California Republicans are completely outmatched,” Steel wrote on the Washington Examiner website.

A generation ago, the state was once a reliable win for the GOP in presidential elections. And in Orange County, largely white, conservative homeowners delivered winning margins for Republicans year after year.

But a surge in immigrants transformed the state and its voting patterns. The number of Hispanics, blacks and Asians has outnumbered whites since 1998. And many of those new voters lean Democratic. The number of registered Republicans has been in a freefall for years — even independents outnumber them.

Very true .

This highlights the fact that there is no electoral way that the trap we find ourselves in. It’s just a matter of time before demographics become destiny

All they have to do is pass their beloved amnesty for illiterate third world peasants and everything for the GOP will be rainbows and unicorns!

They should have been more careful about what they wished for. I have no sympathy for them. The GOP is only nominally or marginally better than the communists. At this rate it won’t be long before the national GOP follows in their footsteps.

Agreed; not only an IDIOT, but a PC IDIOT.
The California Republican Party is going extinct because the State and National organizations allowed it to.
When you run RUBBERHEADS like AHHNOLD THE IDIOT they get what they pushed on all of us CONSERVATIVE republicans.
A DEMOCRAT in a Republican jersey, any body who didn’t see that coming was as stupid as a democrat.
When we do find a viable conservative Republican candidate, they get no help at all from either the State or National parties.
NO MONEY, NO PRESS, NO BOOTS ON THE GROUND.
Their excuse is always the same old crap, “HE, SHE IS NOT ELECTABLE”.
Well of course not, not with out some recognition and a little help from the State and National Republican organizations.
It’s got to the point that on any state offices here, I just write in “LoJack James”, my old Black Lab puppy dog.
And Jack has been dead for almost four years, I figure that gives him a better chance than any GODDAMN REPULICRAT.

There is a number of things CAGOP could have done ie reach out to bring Asians, established Hispanics under the conservative banner that would have been more successful than becoming a clone of the Democratic party. It was more a matter of incompetence than ideology.

I have long had family in San Diego who all voted for Prop 8 and Pete Wilson regularly, there is NOTHING that happened to the California GOP that wasn’t assisted by the donor class helping democrats to replace the hardworking homeowners in their own party with illegal then legalized immigrants so the monied donors had gardeners, nannies and people to work in their almond orchards. The blame goes directly to the California GOP elite for being complicit in helping the dems replaces makers with takers just like it will be the Romney/Flake GOP elite’s fault on the national level if we ever lose Trump. This is the fight. These are the stakes. California is an example of the garbage state that the dems and the GOPe want to turn the rest of us into.

That (and the fact that my farm is here) is why I stay.
I just ignore the “laws” and rules I don’t like.
What are they going to do to me at my age?
Put me in jail?
BFD!!!!

1) End the unconstitutional birthright citizenship.

2) Do not count non-citizens in the census for representation, California, (plus a few others,) is over represented in the house. thus stealing power from other states.

Having a record of exactly who is responsible does help. California is lost, until things become third world and people start asking how it got that way. When they can start reading who is responsible and why they are responsible, there comes an recompense.

California Democrats will be eating zoo animals like the Venezuelans, while proudly telling each other that they favor diversity.

These things were given to me by the LORD ALMIGHTY GOD.
Any one who wishes to take these things from me is more than welcome to try.

(bring plenty of body bags, they will need them).
AND ONE FOR ME TO!

Four years ago the California GOP establishment foisted Neel Kashkari on us as the candidate for Governor after savaging Tea Party favorite Tim Donnelly.

Neel Kashkari supports abortion and same sex marriage. He believes in man-made global warming and supports laws limiting greenhouse gas emissions. Jeb Bush is one of his Republican heroes. He says he voted for Obama twice.

THAT is the establishment GOP’s idea of what California Republicans ought to support.

This election, the colorless, bland, low-energy John Cox was the candidate for Governor. He was non-controversial, invisible, and inspired no one.

One big problem in California is that the establishment GOP power brokers are gutless, half-baked Democrat wannabes who the remaining Republican voters in this state despise. They inspire no one. Even Democrats who want an alternative hold them in contempt.

“300,000 Indians in the Bay Area. Hard working, educated, socially conservative. Have one issue in their lives. Bring the rest of the damn family over from India. “

They also vote Left, despite the constant bilge from GOP establishment hacks about “the natural conservatism” of all these 3rd world immigrant groups. Neel Kashkari is a shining example.
