He'll miss one week, no big deal.

What day would he start?

Nielsen v. Preap (Oct. 10 2018 "Whether a criminal alien becomes exempt from mandatory detention under 8 U.S.C. § 1226(c) if, after the alien is released from criminal custody, the Department of Homeland Security does not take him into immigration custody immediately.")

I'm not sure if SCOTUS can re-open an issue (see above) after a 4-4 vote.

Would anyone who believes that in one week the Senate Republicans, led by Jeff Flake, will NOT grant another delay please raise your hands?

Yes, she either (1) remembers more than she claims to remember and does not want to reveal that because it even more severely unravels her already weak accusation; (2) has nothing to remember because it is all fiction and just gave her story just enough facts to try to sell.

Still don’t make any difference. He’s already been vetted by the FBI! He’s been investigated, why does he need to be investigated again!?!?!?!?!??!!??!?

“He can’t vote on things for this session though.”

Why do you keep lying? Seriously, where do you get your information? You’re just making shiite up. Stop it, fer chrissakes.

He will be seated right after swearing in, peiod. Happens all the time. He must recuse from any cases where oral arguements have already occurred.

He will only miss 1 week, and the Supreme Court is already shifting case schedules to prevent any possible 4-4 ties originating in his missing week.

That’s all, and those are facts. So stop lying. You don’t know what you are talking about. What are you, a chinese disinformation bot???

Geeze.

By treating Dr Ford as ‘credible’, Grassley was able to palm off allegations by Ramirez (found by Ronan Farrow) and Avenatti’s woman.

Just can't agree; by elevating Ford's unsupported, baseless assertions they open the door and lend credibility to the hairbrained allegations of others.

But still, the GOP bent over backwards to be ‘fair to women’

When testimony isn't credible it is possible to blow holes in its entirety. The GOP could have done that yesterday without being offensive or abusive, but it is a matter of degrees and I will not second guess them on that point.

The prosecutor could have ripped Ford to shreds, but she had her marching orders. Unfortunately, IMO, the GOP set a precedent that will not serve them well in the long run.

The silver lining is that normal order requires time between a hearing committees recommendation and the full bodies deliberation.

We should appalled normal timing.

No, read up on it, that’s not how it works. Their whole goal all along has been to delay this enough so that he can’t get into things until after the elections, at best.

Trump fell for it.

Any senator who has had sex assault funds paid out on his behalf should recuse themselves from voting.

I agree I thought the prosecutor was too soft on Dr Ford but I saw commentary from prosecutors that the strategy is best on alleged sex assault victims i.e don’t attack them directly.

I think the morning didn’t go well but Judge Kavanaugh’s impassioned defense saved the day (as did Clarence Thomas). Anecdotal evidence from twitter accounts I follow said average people were sobbing during his opening statement.

#488 the Supreme Court is already shifting case schedules to prevent any possible 4-4 ties originating in his missing week.

Hope so.

When they are career pols they believe they are entitled to something more than their salary, enter corruption. They are not royalty and we could do very well without them.

This FBI is corrupt. They will strike Trump by taking Kavenaugh down. Flake is part of the deep state scheme. Trump knows this and that no matter what Flake will vote against Kavenaugh with Murkowski, killing the nomination.

Trump will probably use the open seat to motivate midterm Senate increase with both McCain & Flake gone. My guess is he might delay Kavenaugh vote or appoint the female pro-lifer.

It’s not going to happen. Ford’s attorneys will not allow her to be interviewed by the deadline. The FBI leadership may be corrupt but the guys who would be doing the investigation would be the normal foot soldiers. I still trust them to be on the level. They will ask for another week when the report is due and a Ford hasn’t been able to be interviewed. They don’t want an FBI investigation. They just want to delay.

Trump is giving them what they asked for, but it’s not what they wanted.

So FBI starts its week investigation, but then another claim comes and the FBI needs more time to investigate another claim.

FFS I am done with this crap. They talk about a blue wave, well it makes me more determined now to get people out to vote to stop them taking over.
