By treating Dr Ford as ‘credible’, Grassley was able to palm off allegations by Ramirez (found by Ronan Farrow) and Avenatti’s woman.

Just can't agree; by elevating Ford's unsupported, baseless assertions they open the door and lend credibility to the hairbrained allegations of others.

But still, the GOP bent over backwards to be ‘fair to women’

When testimony isn't credible it is possible to blow holes in its entirety. The GOP could have done that yesterday without being offensive or abusive, but it is a matter of degrees and I will not second guess them on that point.

The prosecutor could have ripped Ford to shreds, but she had her marching orders. Unfortunately, IMO, the GOP set a precedent that will not serve them well in the long run.

I agree I thought the prosecutor was too soft on Dr Ford but I saw commentary from prosecutors that the strategy is best on alleged sex assault victims i.e don’t attack them directly.

I think the morning didn’t go well but Judge Kavanaugh’s impassioned defense saved the day (as did Clarence Thomas). Anecdotal evidence from twitter accounts I follow said average people were sobbing during his opening statement.
