Italy (Ammoland.com) Pope Francis spoke with a group of young people at a rally of thousands at the end of the first day of his trip to the Italian city of Turin.
Francis started by attacking the Right to Keep and Bear Arms as well as accusing the allies during World War Two of being complicit in the killing of Jews, Christians and homosexuals.
Francis issued his toughest condemnation to date of the weapons industry, saying.
If you trust only men you have lost, he told the young people in a long, rambling talk about war, trust and politics after putting aside his prepared address.
It makes me think of people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit a distrust, doesnt it? he said to applause.
He also criticized those who invest in weapons industries (gun owners), saying duplicity is the currency of today they say one thing and do another.
Francis also built on comments he has made in the past about events during the first and second world wars.
He spoke of the tragedy of the Shoah, using the Hebrew term for the Holocaust.
The great powers had the pictures of the railway lines that brought the trains to the concentration camps like Auschwitz to kill Jews, Christians, homosexuals, everybody. Why didnt they bomb (the railway lines)?
It is surely an upside down world when the representative of G* on earth disparages the right to self defense and accuses the Greatest Generation of being complicit in Hitlers genocide and the destruction of Europe and Russia.
The Vatican is the largest shareholder in Pietro Berretta (Manufacturer of Berretta Arms), and has contracts with multiple arms manufacturers to equip the Swiss Guard and their private police force. So is the pope saying that he and the Catholic Church are not Christian?
bears repeating ...
Wondering why the church didn’t condemn slavery. Why the church didn’t condemn what hitler was doing. Was it so hitler wouldn’t storm the vatican and take all its precious treasures?
This man should not be taken seriously any longer.
Yes it does!
Who is this man???
A Catholic my whole life, and I am just left shaking my head at this guy??????
Starting to question if I am even welcome in my own faith now?? This charlatan is pushing me away..and fast... so sad to admit!
most likely not
Bring back John Paul, this guy is a phoney!
FUPF!!
A gun dealer who is selling weapons to ISIS or al Qaeda has his own issues with the Thereafter. Such a transaction would NOT be for purposes of personal self defense.
I hate this evil demonic fake Pope.
Only the ones who don't understand that papal infallibility applies ONLY to matters of faith (i.e. doctrine), and not political opinions, of which this is one.
The Pope. What a dope.
Francis wouldn’t know a Christian if one kicked him in the butt.
OK, no problem, send the Swiss Guard home. You won’t need their guns.
The Political Pope....it never ends.
I just got the email today. I didn’t expect them to be sending out a year old article. Thanks for pointing it out.
It got so much response I don’t think I am going to ask the mods to remove it. You can if you want.
You left out the really big one, do you pray to Mary?
I didn't leave the US when Clinton and Obama were elected. So, I'm not leaving the Catholic Church just because there's an idiot temporarily in charge.
“The Swiss Guards that you see carry halberds.
The Swiss Guards that you dont see prefer H&K ...”
________________
I think some of the confusion originates from the pike vs the glave. When the guards are posted the senior NCO (front left hand side of the column) carries a glave; which somewhat resembles a pike; but, was, in fact the “badge” of someone in command; an NCO or commissioned officer in today’s terms. Pikes, were, as I am sure you know, the weapon of the lowest level foot soldier.
Agreed on the H&K’s ...although it appears the Swiss Guard also carries Glock 19’s and a variety of SIG weaponry; both, pistols and long arms.
Below is a link to an interesting article on the weaponry of the Swiss Guard. Note the 6th image down shows the NCO with the glave at the front of the column ...and the author misidentifies it as a “pike.”
