Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said Wednesday that he was open to raising the federal minimum wage, breaking with the prevailing view of his party.
Im actually looking at that because I am very different from most Republicans, Mr. Trump said in an interview on CNNs. You have to have something that you can live on.

Gee. Maybe he’s....oh, I don’t know......
...lying??
Nah. That would make him a ....
liar!
The Minimum wage in 1960 was $1.25, with Inflation, the minimum wage should be close to $15.00 an hour.
Glad to see the tone has changed with the nomination wrapped up.
Who cares. Paul Ryan will bock this.
The bigger problem is Paul Ryan will put every process in place to stop anything on immigration that has Trump & public support.
If Trump delivers on the jobs, then the wages were going to go up anyway.
What have we wrought?
I’m waiting to see how this plays out. Remember, Henry Ford started paying his folks enough to buy his cars. Get rid of illegals and implement real fair trade and wages will naturally go up.
“The bigger problem is Paul Ryan will put every process in place to stop anything on immigration that has Trump & public support.”
If Trump gets in, Paul Ryan better not be Speaker anymore n
IMO, part of the reason Cruz abruptly dropped out yesterday was to flush this sort of liberal idiocy out of Trump as soon as possible, and before the convention. Trump’s initial instincts on virtually every issue seem to be almost completely in line with the north east liberal democrat orthodoxy.
You have to have something that you can live on. Since when does how much a job pays depend on what some politician thinks people need to “live on”? Raising the minimum wage will only accelerate the pace of automation and deny jobs to the very people liberals think they are helping. We are so screwed.
$1.25 in 1960 would be worth $10.06 today, not $15.00.

It also drives inflation. If they can't seize your retirement savings outright, they'll just suck the value out of them with a printing press.
There’s truth in what you’re saying. There are many battles to fight in order to right our economic ship; this isn’t the place to start.
The argument for no minimum wage is logical, compelling, clear, and well developed.
It is also political suicide.
This battle was lost 75 years ago, and it is not going to be won in a general election campaign by libertarian nerds quoting logical arguments.
The minimum wage is a price any candidate has to pay to be allowed to govern. It’s that simple.
Oh no, it’s going to be yuge. Trump told us he would make America great again. And this is just him talking trying to get votes from “the other side”. See, before he was telling the truth and is absolutely conservative, because you know, a federal minimum wage is one of those core conservative values...depending what you mean by conservative today.
Hilarious reading all the excuses from the supporters as to why Trump is now willing to look at raising the federal minimum wage and why it’s such a fabulous idea now.
That didn’t last long. Can’t wait to see what happens once he’s president.
No, it wouldn't.
The Federal government shouldn't set a minimum wage at all. That's the issue.
Especially not the case for no minimum wage as opposed to one that doesn't rise based on the whims if Congress rather than being readjusted based on the past three years average inflation or some such.
Periodic, not annual, increases based on the inflation rate removes it from the political scam arsenal which is the first thing that has to happen. After that, like I say, the purists who think there's no reason to have a minimum wage should do what it takes to dismantle other obstructions first.
Moving left. Just as predicted. Still watching.
