Limbaugh: Establishment has to be 'all-in' for Cruz to win
Politico ^ | 3/10/2016 | Nick Gass

If Ted Cruz is to come from behind and win the Republican nomination, it's "gonna take an entire unity effort" to win support from the establishment, Rush Limbaugh said on his radio show Thursday.

The comment from Limbaugh, who has not formally backed any candidate, is the latest indication that the iconoclastic Texas senator will have his work cut out for him as he seeks to cut off Donald Trump.

Limbaugh presented two theories, the first of which assumed that Cruz accepts the premise that he still has time to get to 1,237 delegates before the Republican National Convention, adding that "to essentially beat Trump by unifying everybody, there's a big part of this that also has to get behind Cruz."

no, I’m just saying I got tired of listening to Rush. Every day cigars, golf, the good life blah blah. Just got a bit disconnected I think. Trump has the ability to build a wall and so he has my support.

He’s been doing it since 1992...He’s a big boy now...He’s used to carrying it. I highly doubt a majority of FReepers were listening to him prior....He had the best show ever...Extremely funny and entertaining...It is not a patch nowadays compared to what it was...man his shows were an event...Great parody songs and funny updates...Those were his golden few years...nothing like him...Then he sold out in such a big way....sad actually...Doubt he could have kept it up to that level over all these years..to be expected.

Yes, calling Trump “orange face” as he did today is so objective. Plus interjecting every few seconds that Cruz is the “real” conservative. Rush is a fraud.

Thanks for being open minded.

All of this election cycle is starting to make the entire process look a lot like professional wrestling. Scripted, outcomes predetermined, set villains and good guys, lots of things to draw emotional responses, and plenty of other people’s money on the line.

In no rational world would Obama have been elected twice, or Hillary not in prison. Now the GOP is openly doing the Rats work for them in the race and congress.

Strange times.

I hope the process works properly. If not, we will see truly interesting times.

When their definition of integrity meant voting for Mitt Romney, I drew the line

Integrity - I do not think that word means what THEY think it means

after watching what is being done to Trump by the entire establishment, I cant vote for anyone else, truly, or they have owned me by what they managed to do

and having seen that they can ignore and manipulate and own the people, they will never ever let another upstart candidate get this far ever again, and we will continue to live in a simulation called “America”

At least Ted Cruz never donated money to any Hillary Clinton campaigns.

Cruz is 31% behind where he should be to win the nomination. Trump is 7% above where he should be. The proof is in the pudding... Cruz = Establishment. Cruz’s bio speaks for itself, he is not an outsider, he has worked on the inside of the Establishment his entire career!!!

I stopped listening to Rush about a month ago, never again, just like Fox News, never watch it. I made an exception last night during Hannity’s 1 hour special with Trump, but that’s a very rare case indeed.

I understood Rush as you. I haven’t listened to Rush in quite some time but today turned it on and heard the Vets. call. I think Rush was actually complimentary toward the Trump supporters. He was saying we WON’T be changing our minds because Trump has us locked in. Whereas other voters change their minds and a lot switch right before their vote. Its showing up at every election night. Late votes usually don’t go to Trump because Trump people are TRUMP voters.

Enemies backing Cruz?

Cruz would have to sell his soul to have their backing.

I don’t see Cruz taking a lead.

Wait, you must be confused!

On even-numbered days, we're against Cruz because the establishment can't get along with him, and Trump will make deals with them.

On odd-numbered days, we're against Cruz because he's an establishment insider, and Trump will "stand tough" against them.

Please try to keep your propaganda straight.

The GOPe is already “all in” Tedderino. To loosely quote Jr. Soprano - They’re so far up his rump they’re tasting Brylcreem.

Rush also said Cruz is mistaken if he thinks belittling Trump supporters will convert any. Gee Ya Think?

Cruz isn’t trying to pull support from Trump, he’s just petting his fans on the head telling them their “smart”. (for ignoring the fact he’s GOPe)

I think you’re right. If Rubio and Kasich go down on March 15, it’s over. Cruz by himself can’t keep Trump from the nomination. Rubio, Kasich, and Cruz still in the race could, but for that to happen, Rubio and Kasich would need to win their home states, and right now that’s not looking likely to happen.

Maybe Rush can explain it in a way that I can understand, but who in the political arena isn’t backing Ted RIGHT NOW?

Yes, I know Rubio and Kasich are still in, but the establishment Republicans are in Ted’s camp. The Bush outreach screams that from the mountaintops.

Rush, just what else can the establishment do? Rubio will be out any day now. Kasich is at a dead end. When they drop out, everyone that is anyone will be against Trump.

What then? When he continues to win, what then?

Is there any point you can foresee where you will grudgingly support Trump?

It certainly doesn’t look like it.

Ted Cruz was anti-establishment/anti-GOPe before Donald Trump was even a Republican.

Even if no one hits 1237, a clear leader in delegates has to get the nomination- the leader in personal delegates, not delegates inherited from other candidates.

Cruz still has some chance of doing that. Though after the 15th he probably won’t, we’ll have to see.

A tough nut for Cruz is that he needs Kasich out, which will happen if Kasich loses Ohio. But if Trump wins Ohio Trump is pretty much uncatchable.
Will be an interesting night.
